  • I'm from dublin i understood it perfectly.

  • Haha this is epic, I'm from Dublin and can only understand snippets, can't imagine what a foreigner might think of it

  • @3conormccabe the dublin accent can be hard too, im from a culchie part of tyrone and we say things like bey instead of boy and och well u know urself sir and u would find it hard to understand

  • Are you sure this isn't the Irish language?

  • is it like german/irish?

  • My mums side is from kerry and my dads is from Dublin :)

  • My mums side of my family is Irish, I can hardly understand my Grandmother ahaha :) Love it all the same though

  • Is this even in English?

  • It does at least to my ear sound like it definitely contains a Scandanavian intonation to it. I took Swedish in university and the thing that stuck in my mind was the intonation of her inflected speech which was oddly a bit like this.

  • I dunno if it is a good sign that I can understan everything they are sayin! Me nan and grandad talk like this and so does everyone around!

  • Fuck I'm from Clare and that's near incoherant.

    Love it.

  • In a way i like how people from other countries find Irish accents hard to understand, it means you can speak fast and low and they haven't a clue what you are on about.

  • To be honest north Kerry and South Kerry sound completely different. I'm from Tipp myself but live in London and work in an Irish bar. My ex was from Listowel and he spoke quite slowly and you can understand him....but a customer in the pub is from the other side of kerry and he sounds like this. I can understand it though 'they are talking about a woman being independant until the age of 101 and having her own house....And turning 103 new years eve ect ect'.....good video :)

  • Hi There,

Just to double check, this is an accent from County Kerry in Ireland?

I'm looking for any other examples of this beautiful accent, do you know of any?

    Thanks! Great video!

  • and people speak of Scottish being another language, this is much harder to understand!

  • @kakaze unless ur from here

  • Reminds me of my grandmother from Duagh Co Kerry.. Great memories

  • THIS IS LOVELY AND REMINDS ME OF kILLORGLIN WHERE MUMS FROM AND THE CONVERSATIONS when on holiday, WE WOULD BE TRYING TO CATCH WHAT WAS SAID. WE WERE BORN IN ESSEX BUT ON HOLLS MUMS ACCENT WAS MORE PRONOUNCED. HER BROTHERS, WHEN ANNOYED WOULD STATE .....not spelt correctly,.. but phonetically .Mahammen men dear, lishen again!!!!! I can actually understand some of your dad,,,,she was a good age.....driving... i love this accent!

  • My mother is from South Connemara in Galway. Such a different dialect!!! This sounds so different to me...

  • thanks so much for posting this video - i was just what i needed to show how the kerry/cork accent has a similar intonation to norwegian!

  • @garethella Thats why I put it up, there is NO good example of the accent, and people dont believe me when i say it's hard to understand X''DD
