  • Best version ever....

  • R.I.P. Cozy.

  • 1:22 Win..

  • I bet Jon Lord's Mustache got more pussy than the rest of the band!!!

  • You're all sayin RIP Mel Galley, but don't forget that Cozy Powell also left us, back in 1998 or 1999, if I remember correctly. RIP Mel Galley and Cozy Powell!

  • @simonsblackmore, Cozy Powell was a great drummer too, RIP!

  • Thanks for posting!! I have been searching the net for years trying to find videoclips from this concert! :) Please tell me you have Cozy Powell's amazing drumsolo as well :)

  • Coverdale at his best....

  • Recently I saw a tube from this show with IMPROVED SOUND.

I do own a copy with the relative poor sound.

Where does the recording with the better sound come from?

Why on earth cant David release DVD s officially?

The real WHITESNAKE period deserves far better recognition than the latter incarnations. And at least 1 DVD from 1987????!!!!! Why is that so hard to do?!

  • DAVID WAS BORN TO SING...WHAT A GIFT HE HAS AND HE USES IT VERY WELL....

  • Oh yeah !!

  • This is great !

  • It's heavier because of Cozy Powell R.I.P.

  • sykes credits are only for the whitesnake 87 album, and yes I agree that mr. Sykes put his touch to some of the old classics of ws but what he did in the 87 album is amazing

  • Undoubtedly much better than the 1987 version!

  • This is heavier than the 1982 recorded version. The guitars aren't as loud as they could be because they are staying out of Jon Lord's way. This song came alive when Sykes started playing it, he just tears it up.

  • This is when Whitesnake was REALLY good. They're still good, and was with the 1987 album and onwards, but this is the last of the classic Whitesnake. R.I.P. Mel... I wish Moody, Murray, Lord etc. would reunite with Coverdale for a tour with only old material.

  • I really agree with you!

  • @SilverTounge85, the US Slip of the Tongue was the start of their commercial turn and downfall.... although the louder guitar sound of the US Slip of the Tongue album was completely welcome and IMO is one of their best albums, after that it was all downhill for commercialism.

  • @shred5 Sailing ships and judgement day are some of their best material. You are generalizing. They had a stupid image but the music was there and sykes was a MUCH better guitarist than either of these two.

  • @bonfirejovi, the music was hardly there, Sykes was a pure wanker, and even Vai didn't work in Whitesnake.... and the last time I checked Sailing Ships and Judgement Day were incredibly lame... yup checked again, and they're still awful.

Skyes was at his best on the Slide It In album, in which he was just re-recording some of Micky Moody and Mel Galley's guitar tracks anyway.

  • @shred5 sailing ships requires MUCH more talent to play or write than a bog standard blues tune. i feel sorry for people like you that suffer from misplaced musical snobbergy. sorry sykes was a more creative guitarist, more versatile... listen to his solo stuff if you want proof. he made the unthinkable move of getting out the pentatonic box. vandenberg helped write the songs and vai played on them. whitesnake had HUGE amounts of talent at that point it and it shows.

    both versions are good.

  • @bonfirejovi, they had tons of misplaced talents in the latter versions of the band. Sykes, Vandenburg and Vai have much more technical skills than the earlier guys for sure, but they were nothing but pure wankery in Whitesnake and I could do without. Listen to some of Vai's solo material when he's playing on his own ground the guy is amazing, but he just didn't work in Whitesnake, more technically skilled or not. I feel sorry for people like you who just a song by note per second...pathetic

  • @bonfirejovi, I actually meant to say Slide it in was the start of their commercial downfall too... Slide It In, however was good. Self titled was meh? and I want the $2 I paid for Slip of the Tongue back...

  • RIP Mel Galley. MOst people give Sykes credit for the Slide It In album, but most of it has been written by Coverdale and Galley.

  • Sykes only played on the USA version of the album as well, the whole thing was done before he came in.

    I still love Sykes though:)

  • Sykes didn't play on the original version of this song, it was recorded in 1982 with Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody on guitars.

  • R.I.P Mel Galley

  • I like this version better than Sykes and I like Sykes.

  • I like this version better too, It's more bluesy

  • Wow..... Great.......loved it.

  • We can use this video perfectly to remember the memory of Mel Galley. He died on 01.07.2008 an he was still one of the best guitarists ever ! Hear his fantatic solo guitar in this video ! It is so great and moves me to tears ! Trapeze, early Whitesnake, Phenomena - all these Bands wrote Rock-History and Mel is still the best !

    R.I.P. Mel Galley !

  • olha vou te dizer uma coisa sobre seus videos

nao vá ficar chateado tá mais todos sao

    simplesmente maravilhosos vc tem

    bom gosto valeu.

  • This was the Real Thing! Thanks for posting it!!

  • yeahhh ¡¡¡¡

    B-R-U-T-A-L-E ¡¡¡¡¡

    awesome line up

  • this solo is really weak...

  • It was the real Whitesnake. After this became a mess

  • Is there a DVD with the whole concert??

  • yes. whitesnake live at donington

  • oops! live in germany, or at ludwigshafen, i think... sorry about the mistake

  • Thank you very much!I already have the Donnington concert and it's also great.I can't wait to get this one.Judging by this number it should be amazing!

P.S.: RIP Mel Galley! You were a really great musician!

  • Cozy Powell rocks. Do you know if he played on the CD where this song came from. Or did Tommy?

  • Ian Paice plays on the album version and the album is called "Saints and Sinners" ('82) ;)

  • and on the 1987 album it was Aynsley Dunbar...

  • NICE..VERY VERY NICE MAN !!

    5* FOR U..

  • RIP Mel Galley :'(

  • RIP Mel Galley

  • Mel Galley - Rest In Peace man... Join to blue angels squadron: Bon Scott, Bonzo, Randy Rhoads, Phil Lynnott... sadly story, But I'll still remember You.

  • Mr. Mel Galley! R.I.P.

  • Sadly Mel Galley died today :(

  • Fucking keyboard.

  • Nice to see Whitesnake play with real men who don't where perms.

  • Is there anymore to this show? The only show from the Saints N Sinners tour was the Donington Show from August 1983 that I was aware of.

  • 1987 version is better, better guitar solo by john sykes

  • I'm totally agree. John Sykes made the diference in Whitesnake

  • The original versions of these songs are so much better than the hair-band remakes of '87. Best album: Slide It In, the last with Jon Lord.

  • There is absolutely no reason to ever listen to the remake of this song.

The reason the remake sucks is because they let circus folk play the music as opposed to musicians

  • Keep this "reason" to yourself. For me remake version is really much much better. And Mel's solo sucks compared to John Sykes'.

  • Actually I can say whatever I want.

You're not the boss of me.

  • You behave like a stupid kid. And you CANNOT says whatever you want. If you like the old version ok, but don't say it's the only true version or something. There are people (like me) who likes the remake version more & you have to get over it.

  • Heh, stupid as I thought.

  • Yep, I'm a homo sapiens.

  • You've been played! goodnight

  • john sykes took the blues out of whitesnake and turned it american...

    i prefer this version =]

  • @canoekid, I think everybody who heard the original version said the same thing ;)

  • @canoekid sorry i like all versions of whitesnake but sykes was a MUCH better guitarist than these two, much more versatile and creative... listen to his solo work for example.

  • @canoekid Of course, John Sykes is English, in case you didn't know..........

  • Fucking Marvellous.

  • Loved it!
