Hi after you finished restoring from the custom ipsw i noticed that it was in DFU mode, [My question about this part: DO I NEED A AT&A SIM TO ACTIVATE? (in order to enter itunes) ] then u selected a restore from a previous back up. On video the time was 9.40 mins and u will see exactly what in speaking about. thanks Mario

@mattmcnerlin this is only a unlock for iphones with custom firmware, if you have 04.10.01 then you must have already updated via itunes in which case you can not unlock. sorry to break the news just wish you seen this video sooner.

Hi! I have an iPhone 3gS, 4.3.3, firmware 05.16.02. I have 2 questions:

1. How do i know if it is a factory unlocked iPhone or a non-factory unlocked iPhone?(do i use redsnOw or snOwbreeze?)

2. Do i still need to change my baseband?

im having this problem, the firmware its in a rar file, and when i unzip it, there is many different files, instead of just one like in the video... what am i doing wrong?

@dalailume it sounds lik you downloaded the file using safari, just change the .rar extension to .ipsw and it should be ok. hope this helps.

I want to buy a iphone 4, but i must be sure it can be both unlockable and jailbroken. So when i go to buy it, what baseband must i look for?

@dalailume forget the baseband just make sure that you get a factory unlocked iphone, to be sure ask the seller to update the iphone via itunes. if they agree then chances are the iphone is factory unlocked. if they will not update the firmware for you then walk away as this may indicate a software unlocked iphone which may cause you problems in the future. ask for the update before you hand any money over. hope this helps

I followed your instructions and my phone is only jail broke but not unlocked. I am using an iPhone 4 with the 4.3.3 and 04.10.01 and want to use T-mobile for my carrier.  Why won't ultrasn0w unlock my phone or what may I need to do to unlock my phone? Will you please help?

@blueeyesbently this will only work for the preservation of your old baseband so that you will be able to unlock the iphone, as you have baseband 04.10.01 you have already updated you iphone before watching this video in which case you can not unlock your iphone. the best bet for you is to purchase a givey sim which will unlock the iphone otherwise you can contact the carrier who the iphone is locked to and ask them to unlock the iphone. hope this helps

@123hk123 this video shows you howto jailbreak your iphone, it will not help you if your iphone is already locked, it is a way to prevent your iphone from being locked by preserving your baseband if you are on 4.10.01 then there is no software unlock for this at the moment.

my phone was locked to a carrier...and i had a sim for another carrier and when i did this jailbreak it wouldnt let me turn the phone on to unlock the phone because i needed a sim to activate it...WHAT DO I DO =/

@TheSkillz100 factory unlock means your phone is not locked to any network, software unlock requires software to unlock, if you are unsure if your iphone is factory unlocked then use snowbreeze to create the custom ipsw file this will preserve your baseband so your phone will not get locked when updating and jailbreaking. hope this helps

the snowbreeze sowftware asks for either 4.2.8 or 4.3.3 firmware. The download link for the 3gs firmware in the comments is for 4.3.2 firmware. Look up iphone firmware 4.3.3, download it and then try it. It shoudl work.

@AwesomeGuy240 be sure to download the file using google chrome or firefox do not use safari to download. once downloaded make sure the file extension is .ipsw hope this helps
