  • I like to experiment and create my own music and sometimes I paint ( even I'm a terrible painter) I have to say in this video you said everything I had in my mind, I agree 100% with you.

  • I will "leave" the trees alone ;)) Great info.....be true to yourself........absolutely!

  • @WatercolorsbyKarsten LOL...that comment was a little SHADY or were you just OAKing (joking) with me by going out on a LIMB and BRANCHING out. LOL. If you were talking about a maple tree I would think you were a SAP. LOL....don't get me started.

  • @skyetaylorgalleries

Well...after hearing your PITCH....I sat down on my TRUNK and was STUMPED. But not for long...you being my ALDER...I knew all your advice STEMS from lots of experience. Now I can see the FOREST through the TREES. Now I will be PINEing away at my painting ^*^

  • @WatercolorsbyKarsten OMG! Just like a FOREST FIRE, I met my MATCH! LOL. :)

  • Great video... recommend any other abstract artist's to look at?

  • cool video, very inspiring. Thanks a lot ^_^

  • @AcidSnake52 Thanks for watching! :)

  • I jsut like to paint trees :p

  • @84Manowar I'm going to LEAF that one alone or i'd be BARKing up the wrong TREE. LOL Shhhh. I paint trees too. :)

  • @wlscsms Thank you so much. In art you must learn first what the rules are. Then you totally destroy them one by one slamming your creative genius to unheard of heights. Art School destroys your Childlike wonder and herds your mind like mindless cattle in the wrong direction. Some people need this to be able to create but the true discovery comes from self exploration.

  • I think I should listen to this every day when I get up! I've been painting on and off for about as long as you, but just a good copier... but have been terrified to try abstract art, as like you, I didn't "get" it, and 4 days ago, I decided that what it really was, is that I was afraid to try... it's easy to copy something, but to pull something out of myself, well, I feared that I really wasn't an artist. You're right, abstract art is HARD.. at least for me, to trust. Here goes! THANK YOU!

  • @terristeiner Check out my other videos one in particular The inner child. Thanks and good luck, I know you can do it...

  • thank you so much! your words brought tears to my eyes. My art is unique for my small town and looked at with an odd eye lol. Like you said tho, it is what makes me happy, someday maybe i will sell. I am just not a flower and cowboy boot kinda person :)

  • @DillaMax Make this you best painting day ever....I know you can do it...Go change the Art world one brush stroke at a time painting from the worlds best resource....your heart.

  • i wish everybodyy was a great person like you, society jus aint creative enough

  • @NLGBasedBoy Thank you so much. I really appreciate your kind words. Blessings, Skye

  • Omg..... thank you so much. Your words have encouraged me more. I'm so thankful I found you. Please keep posting. You are truly appreciated.

  • @chamogul Wow! Thank you for watching! Without you and the support of so many I'm nothing. I'm so glad to be able to connect and thanks for opening your mind and heart to welcome me. I'm forever humbled. Blessings, Skye

  • Thanks for such a inspirational video. Your energy pops from the screen!

And oh... I completely get The Doors moment while painting.

  • @acidzen Thanks for watching! I save the Doors music when I have to create a dramatic Abstract so I don't over play it. LOL

  • Excellent! Thanks for sharing!

  • @lisawomyn21 Thanks for watching! :)

  • you should check out Ozric Tentacles for some good painting music :)

  • Very well said.... Mr. Skye

  • @leecliett Thank you so much! :)

  • I've never heard an artist I more relate to. My Aunt is an artist and she doesn't understand how I can paint for ten hours without speaking a word or moving from my spot but it's like the whole world doesn't exist outside of the painting. My paintings never turn out what I envision but it usually comes out okay I think. I'd like to see you make a video sharing your personal art career history.

  • @4t0micw0nd3r Thank you. It's a funny thing when you are in the zone...Time does not exist. If you are lucky enough to find that zone and shut down your mind to outside awareness....great things begin to happen. Your mind is quiet while your heart creates...Beautiful.

  • Great video Skye not just for artists either. I like you a lot..we think alike,, Cheers Ann

  • @Paulol100 Hey Ann, Thank you for watching. :)

  • You have no idea how much your videos are soooo appreciated! I needed to hear what you say, I come back often and relisten...thank-you so much for sharing!! please make more?!

  • Awesome video!!! You give great advice, I have only been drawing since around 1972 (I was 5) or so but I have recently taken up the hobby of ATC's (Artist Trading cards) and find that I am a far better painter on a small scale and that if I let myself go and just let the art take where it wants to go then I can produce some really good abstract paintings. You can see some of my ATC's as well as some pencil sketches on my flickr page just search for artist fipp or fipp22@yahoo.com

  • Celticgiraffe, I would love to see your work. Think about doing Art Shows. I love showing my paintings and don't care if I sell or not. You will get a lot of valuable feedback and see what the type of art the consumer likes. Your paintings mean nothing unless you show them to the World. Show them to the World! Art inspires! Good luck to you and most of all, God bless you and your wonderful gift to create. How many people went to the grave never finding their talent to paint. Show your work!

  • Yes Marketing helps but the secret is to not think about success. Paint from your heart and paint without worry. If you sell, Fine, If not so what. Just because you have not sold a painting in 30 years means nothing. So many people judge success on Wealth and I just told you mine but the truth is yes you are a success because you are pleasing yourself by doing something you love. Money and material objects mean nothing if you live a life unfulfilled.

  • It's very difficult to make a living being an Artist. I have been blessed. I live in a turn of the century Mansion paid for. I drive a new Mercedes paid for. I sell a lot of Huge Commission paintings. I have just signed a huge 5 year contract with a major company that will reproduce my work for Huge Hotel and Casinos, Target, Amazon, and High end Interior decorators throughout the USA. Next Year I will go to Hong Kong to Paint for a huge Hotel/residential Project. Want to be an Artist? Yes u can

  • A 2500 sq. foot basement! Man...I'm painting in a 700 sq. foot basement with a 6.5 foot ceiling in a 110 year old house! Creepy..but its all I have! I don't see how many people can make a living at it (unless the spouse is bringing in good money too). Gotta be a good marketer as well as artist. I hate the thought of beng a salesman! Is that the key though? I haven't sold a painting yet in 30 years even though I'm told my stuff is very good!

  • This video hypnotized me. AMAZING!!! It's almost two o'clock at night and I watch a video like this hypnotized :-)).Thank you

  • Don't be afraid to create. Remember one thing. You can never make a mistake when painting. Unless it is water color which is the exception., Oil and Acrylic are most forgiving and can be always adjusted. Paint with confidence! You are the master of your painting universe. If you think you can....Then YES YOU CAN! Passion is everything! If you have passion and really want to do this research and practice are essential. Study and learn from other works of art you admire. Show me your masterpiece!

  • Every artist has to begin somewhere. Buy a starter set of the paint medium you think you would like and give it a go. Begin by surrounding yourself with works of other artists. Study how they use colors. Create your own composition. Here's a simple trick.. Tone the canvas with a wash of Burnt Sienna. Draw with a darker tone by using you brush. The object is to make it sort of resemble an old sepia photo. When dry ad your color in light washes. You can go back and darken the color later -enjoy

  • this video is amazing.............

i draw sketches but i never paint i really want to but i dont know how to use colours please help me............

  • Miavonni, Thank you so much and God bless you. I love doing the videos and responses have been very positive. I have been pretty busy lately. I just signed a 5 year contract with a major company that produces copies of art for Hotels, Casinos, Restaurants, online shopping. I'm really excited as the potential is huge. 7/22/11 my art will be featured at the Next Picture Show Gallery in Dixon Il. It's a wine, a band and a "Meet the Artist" thing. Heck with the art! I'm going cuz it's free wine! LOL

  • love the vid!!! Id like to hear more about your experience, like at what point did you really feel that you were going somewhere with your art what was the painting? and what major hurddles did you overcome? your work is awesome and your very engaging in your videos!

  • Hello and Thank you. I have been really busy getting ready for art shows Also, my work will be displayed in a gallery and I have been going nutz trying to pick pieces.
