This is literally one of the WORST phones....Mine is a year old, it cannot pick up WiFi anymore, it factory resets itself at random, doesn't receive email properly, doesn't update Facebook properly, laggy, slow, terrible and expensive apps, power button doesn't work correctly, does not ring or beep when receiving a phone call or text message.......just don't even buy this phone.....

I just DOWNGRADED from LG VIEWTY to HTC MINI and lost all my money. Never, ever would I buy ANY HTC product! The phone is totally a CRAP since its interfaces are like STUPID, you cannot save any incoming phone number since the new contact doesn't work/ you cannot play back DIV X(the VIEWTY is a marvel!), you cannot depend on its ALARM capability and you are MOST LIKELY to miss your appointments if you depend on this POOR COPY OF AN APPLE I PHONE, you cannot save numbers from a call or mssg.

lol i went to the htc stand at the latest taiwan computer show last week, and i enabled wireless n on the hd mini. LOL THE GUY WAS SO SURPRISED. it's nice how it also supports wireless n like the hd2

Here's the thing though. The default interface sucks balls. MS knows this which is why they allowed companies like HTC and SPB to do what they've done.

This was their plan for WinMo from the beginning. The reason why many WinMo phones "suck" is really two-pronged. The other manufacturers and developers are too lazy and put out the bare minimum and the users really just wanna buy something shiny and dumbed down.

Remember that Windows Mobile is JUST AN OS and any manufacturer can put it on any crappy phone given they'll pay for licensing. What you're saying is akin to saying Windows sucks because you have a netbook. Given the right machine, these OSes can FLY. You just need to shell out a little more instead of buying the bottom-end.

never used HD2, but spent a few days with a HD, wasn't overly impressed- Looked nice, but not too easy to navigate way round- seemed to play a little nicer after android install

will have a play with this when it comes

The scrwes on the back side are really confusing for everyone. You sure don't have to take them off to reach the SIM and battery, you can clearly see that.

But the cover could easy cover them, so I dont get it. It might help the signal or something...

Aside from the fact that I very much dislike the Windows OS, I think that in comparison to the Android phones also offered by HTC, this looks to be a big disappointment. And what's with this "Mini" branding anyway, when it only seems to be the screen that has been seriously downsized?

1 - HTC did do a great job covering winmo 6.5 up with Sence, so what's the big problem?

2 - Winows Live 7 or whatever it's called, is coming out this year, and it looks promising.

3 - I rather have a phone with these measurements in my pocket than an oversized hd2.

If it's still HTC Sense based on Winmo, it's still Winmo. Second: who says you can update a Win 6.5 device to the newer OS? Last I heard, it may not be possible to upgrade in this way. Either way, it's still Winmo. Third: fair enough, but it could still look nicer.

First off I never said it wasn't a winmo phone, I said HTC covered IT up with Sence, and that works imo. Second, I really like the design exept of the screws but they don't really bother me and maybe HTC will release additional covers for covering up the holes on the back.

Could you please give me the source of where you read the unupgradability (if that's even a word :p) of winmo 6.5 to 7? Thanks.

I never said you didn't say it was Winmo, I simply emphasised the point that even though it has HTC Sense (Not Sence, as you seem to call it), it's still based on the OS. As for the Winmo update thing - check these out:
