  • Gosh, your hair is flawless!

  • Nice analogy with the ribbons

  • Even though this video is 2 years old and you may not see this comment,. I just wanted to say you helped me so much! May God Bless You! (:

  • I liiikke your hair <3 !!!!

  • Thank you :) That was really helpful.

  • @elizabetta720 its prob because the heat setting is too high because when hair burns it smells bad, so try to do the curl quicker or do a lower heat setting.

  • when you are curling...is the hair damp because it looks damp..

Or your hair is so shiny that i think its damp:O

  • hey iris!

    i have a question,,when i curl my hair w/ a flat iron it smells too bad:/

i clean the flat iron everyday & my hair too:) so why you think it smells bad???<3

  • Ty

  • I really enjoy your tutorial's but I am SO beauty retarded!!! I have tried and tried, and tried again to curl my hair with the flat iron. :-( No success!!! I guess I will be sticking to my curling iron :-(

  • Great video!

  • Iris I have the best flat iron out there and spent so much time and a small fortune finally purchasing. I am going to try this again. It feels like it pulls or snags my hair doing it this way. Does it feel that way for you? In the video it looks effortless, smooth as butter while pulling it through.

  • You have the cutest flat iron I've ever seen! :D

And the curls just look gorgeous! ;)

  • I actually DID get a curl "the wrong way" but it SUCKED. it stuck out and frizzed and when i tried my whole head the end product was 100% frizz and damage. it took my hair weeks to recouperate. i'm preparing to try it this way... i hope it comes out better! esspecially sinc ei have rather short hair...

  • Thank you so much! Now I can get beautiful curls without my curling iron. 5 stars!

  • omg iris you're my hero for this! i just tried it out and it finally worked!! after watching a million videos i finally found this and it worked right away, thanks sooo much chicka! <3

  • Thank you iris!!!!!

this saves me so much time in the morning!

  • I love all your videos! I've never tried this technique. I'm so glad I watched. It looks way easier than I thought. I have really long and very thick hair too! You've made pin-up styles so much easier for me. My hair for my wedding day was pin-up (my wedding attire was too :)) and it took hours. I think after watching your videos I could save a lot of time now.

  • How long does this usually take

  • You're beautiful, your hair is beautiful, and you saved my life! My hair is waist length and I really did suck with the flat iron (borrowed from my friend, tried it for the first time, curlers didn't work but I wanted curls so bad). I was really pissed off, but I've found your video, thanks so much! Not perfect yet and doesn't last so long, but these are just the very first steps:)

  • With that amount of hair it takes far more patience to do everything with it but nevertheless absolutely beautiful hair!

  • I usually curl my hair with the flat iron and sometimes 1 out of 5 curls ended up flat like you showed and I didn't know what was causing it, thanks for sharing these tips to curl your hair successfully with the flat iron <3

  • Do flatiron curls last longer than curling iron curls? Thanks, love your tutorials!

  • Itworked but it wasn't as bouncy. How did u get it like that

  • your hair looks like silk, so shiny and pretty, very pretty curls too

  • your voice always make's me feel calm and relaxed lol

  • very nice!!! I wish i had client who would love me doing styles like this... I love big hair...

  • i've always had hair this length but just cut about 10inches off. When it was long my flat iron curls would look like this for 20mins before falling flat. i assumed it was the weight of my hair pulling it down. however how that its alot shorted, my curls still fall out quickly! not as fast but they dont stay nice and bouncy like this. do you know any good products to make them stay in longer?? any help much appreciated xx

  • Your hair is so healthy and shiny its just amazing and i must say Iris you are very talented at making those curls!! You are the very best!!! - Angie

  • Hi Iris I was wondering if you need to have a certain flat iron to do this look?

  • oh geezus, your hair is so healthy and long!!!!!!!!!! beautiful *.*

  • is your hair thick?????

  • @121taybby WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THT -_-

  • I love what u do with hair! i did same thing ! beautiful hair!

  • I have tried this and I still don't have it right, and I am afraid to burn up my hair! I am going to practice and practice cause I think these are awesome curls! Thanks Iris!

  • Thank you so much for posting this! i always figured it was just my crappy flat iron~ Your reference of curling ribbon made it all make sense for me!

  • thank you thank you for the video, I'm one of those who has been doing it wrong!

  • I have the exact same flat iron :)

  • thank you for this video. I couldn't do this until you really broke down the movement

  • Thankyou!! This helped a lot!!

  • ma hair is too short T^T

  • How does your hair stay so perfect!?

I take care of mine soooo much and it still doesn't look as good as yours :/

  • After washing hair, and your is naturally curlly when it dries. Is it better to straighten your hair with the flat iron before you curl it with a flat iron?

  • @ilovemakeup8888 If your hair is super curly, yes you should flat iron first. If your hair is wavy, no.

  • Watching you do this to demo for us I'm scared for your hair:( I know you take wonderful care of your hair. I don't think I would ever try this technique. seems like a lot of work. Love your videos <3

  • may you please do a jennifer love hewitt hair tutorial thank you so much is the long hair version in the ghost whispered thank you so much and love your video

    xoxoxox

  • @chickenlove05 Can you send me a picture?

  • Thanks so much this video really helps I can't wait to try this, I had no idea about the pressure thing

  • great tutorial! very informative.

  • Hi Iris, will using a heat-protective lotion prior to blow dryer still be useful when forming the curls? I love them and will try them for Xmas! Thank you.

  • @SmokelessFireAngel Yes! Unless that product tends to make your curls fall (in your case)

  • I love watching your videos! I curl my hair with my straightener and when people ask me how i can't explain it. So next time i'll just direct them to this video!! :D

  • how long does this last?

  • @idance4life17 Depends on your hair. Some people have reported they last over night. Mine did last till the next day.

  • wow.beautiful

  • Iris, you have the prettiest hair in the world.

  • @Melissa84 Thank you Melissa :)

  • @ilovegerardo

Your hair are so pretty....How do u take care of them??wat products do u use??

  • do you find that you get breakage? after using the iron like that? should you limit the amount of times that use the straightner to curl in a week?

    thanks!

  • @27Denty Yes! You shouldn't do this often. Depending on the texture and how easily your hair breaks, you should do this technique sparingly.

  • @ilovegerardo Iris, I have always wanted to ask you about trimming hair. Do you know if its better to trim hair before or after bleaching it. Well, even any kind of dye as well. Thanks!

  • @htti3 I would trim after :)

  • @ilovegerardo THANK YOU! lol the thing is that hair stylists argue that its better to trim before...and honestly im pretty sure they say that to save their products =/

  • I tried it yesterday night and it worked omgosh!! My hair is the type of hair that reaally really does not hold any curl, no matter how long I apply curling iron on on each piece and I think this method holds curls for longer time too! I was so excited, thank you Iris<3!

  • oh my goosshh your hair is freaking beautiful! Thank you so much for this video! My hair is straight like yours so hopefully i'll get my curls this time!

  • how long does it take you to curl your hair with a flat iron?

  • @erica22286 About 20 minutes, without interruptions :)

  • what kind of hair cut do you have? When I've had long layers in the past I felt like there were too many layers so that every time I put a chunk of hair in any kind of iron most of it would fall out... so it would take forever to do. Now I have shorter hair with a few layers. Just wondering because I plan on growing it out again.. it used to be almost to my butt! haha

  • @rezgurl4life Where do you live? I could recommend the person who does my hair. I have it cut in long layers.

  • @ilovegerardo ): Nevada... I'll keep searching for the perfect haircut! haha

  • Hi! just a quick question...do you wear extensions or you have that amounth of hair naturally? just to know if i can stop daydreaming with an hair like that and get ASAP some extensions or give up..lol

oh..if you wear extensions...which brands do you like? do you think that buying them online is risky in terms of color and such?

Ty a lot and great vid!

  • @dhoakohime It's my hair.

  • bellissimi!!!

  • my hair is too short to even try this )):

  • @951dulce You can probably go for waves instead of curls, depending how short your hair is.

  • BEST FLAT IRON CURL VIDEO EVERRRRR!!! :D

  • this is a very good video very informative!

  • thank you so much for clarifying!

  • @missbish LOL YES! It does have the power :D

  • You explain this so great!!!!!!!!

  • best hair on youtube

  • love ur hair!

    thanks :)

  • your hair is sooo beautiful

  • I have seen countless videos on how to curl your hair with a flat iron and this one blows them all away! Thanks Iris! The concept is so simple, but I've made those same curling mistakes and been frustrated. Everyone makes it look so simple. Thanks for dumbing it down for me! I love your tutorials!

  • was watching this with my 6 yr old daughter.... she loves it and so do i :) can't wait til my hair grows out to do this look thanks for the tip!!

  • This is amazing! I never realised that so many people were showing us a method that wasn't very effective when it came to curling! So glad I subscribed.

  • you have the shiniest hair which is rare to see on long hair... how do you do it??? do you trim it regularly or add anything specific???

  • Finally! I got it...i tried it about 20times and I got it,yeah!!!! it is really like curling a ribbon with scissors just very very slowly and u will get your beautiful curl! :) Thank you for the video x

  • how do u make you're curls stay? i mean my hair turns from curly to wavy in like 30 mins whenever i curl it with a curling iron/ straightening iron!

it stays for days with rollers though!!!

    HELP!

  • @smartiescribblez I heard that if you pin up your curl like a pin curl and let it curl completely before letting it down, the curl will keep longer. Hope this helps:)

  • Your hair is so shiny!

  • OMG those curls look really natural! great job!

  • These are realy beautiful curls and your hair looks amazing. What temp. do you recommend for this. My flatiton only has a temp. guage. Des the company providing it know what temp it is~Thank you!

  • AMAZING!! it's MAGIC MAGIC MAGIC

  • Iris ¿Conoces algún método/producto para hacer crecer el pelo mas rápido?. Estoy desesperada amiga :(

  • This came out amazing!!! Luv it!!!

  • You really have beautiful hair. How long do your curls usually stay like that? I wonder what I'm doing wrong cause mine are usually all "hung out" after an hour or two . Any advice? :(

  • That was a good analogy to the curling ribbon. What a good teacher you are.

  • Thank you so much. I tried to curl my hair yesterday and it come out wrong just like you said in the video. I'm going to try this today. Thanks for the tip.

  • This is a great tutorial and your hair looks sooo beautiful!

  • That was REALLY helpful! I have never been able to do it and now I know why! lol Thanks.

  • Iris,

The length of your hair is amazing. I'm been trying to grow my hair for forever now. It's already pretty long. I kinda feel like there is a genetic boundry as to how long it can get. Or does it all have to do with constant maintances?

    Great video by the way.

  • @KaydaAmaya loepsie made a video saying that our hair only grows to a certain point, and everyone's limit is different. i think ive reached my limit already =[ and my hair isnt even that long.

  • Thank you so much! I went to a Christmas party this past weekend and I had one piece of hair that stayed limp. Of course, it was in the front.

  • This came out amazing I'm gonna try that out. Another great video. Thanks

  • u know iris!.. ur a very pretty mommy!! :)

    -M Priyanka Narayan

  • thank uuuu :)

  • thank you for this tutorial!!

  • you look like a pin-up girl with the flower in your hair, very pretty, love big curls, that sort of victoria secret catwalk hair

  • Beautiful! What are your favorite holding products that last a long time?

  • Thanks Iris! I'll allways screw up with the flatiron tehnique, hopefully i will not this time!

  • First, I was like, great another video on how to do curls with a flat iron... But this one was really helpful! I did my hair plenty of times like this and sometimes it turned out great and sometimes it didn't. Now i Know, where the mistake was.

    So, thank you!

    Lovley greetings from Paris.

  • thanks so much for the video, i was always wondering why the curling with the flat iron only worked for some strands of my hair but not for others :D in no other youtube tutorial this pressure thing is mentioned...

  • Great video, i've tried curling my hair with flat irons this way and it never worked now i know why! hopefully it'l work next time :)

  • ive tried soo hard to do this and i just cant bcos i think my hair istoo short to wrap around the flat iron like that, ive got shoulder length hair, any suggestions?

  • omg thank u sooooooooooooo much!! i got it on the 2nd try!! ur amazing!! im excited!! :)

  • my gosh WOW!!I think I've never seen such gorgeous hair!

  • ifi was just to curl the bottom of my hair an crip the rest back to you think that would look nice? x

  • thank you so much for explaining it so thoroughly. I've been trying to curl my hair using that method, but I don't get any curls. Now I know what my mistake is (which is where I put my pressure). Thanks again! :D

  • My hair isn't long enough to do this to, but the video was fun to watch. I was amazed at how this works! I've never seen it done before.

  • Hi Iris, first of all i LOVE your video's =D! The trouble that i have with curling my hair is that my hair won't hold a curl! My hair is naturally curly, and whenever i try to curl it with a curling iron or a flat iron it looks nice when i'm done, but after an hour or so my hair looks limp and messy. Even when i add hairspray or pomade.. Any tips? Also i was wondering what kind of haircut you have, i love how your hair falls, straight or curly!

  • I have tried so many times to use my straightener to do curls, and I was doing it totally wrong! Thanks for showing us the right way, can't wait to try this tomorrow.

  • Does your hair naturally grow quickly, or slowly? Do you take any supplements or vitamins to get your hair to look so healthy? It's gorgeous!! I used to have really thick, healthy hair. Well, I still sort of do, but the problem is that it no longer grows, lost some of it's shine, and I also lost some hair. Nothing drastic, but I've just noticed that it's not as thick. Probably due to my underactive thyroid, found out about it through blood work. My hair doesn't grow as quick anymore! :(Any tips?

  • Thank! The girl at the mall who used the flat iron I bought on my hair did it so easily and I could never figure it out for myself. I'm going to try this out tomorrow, if it doesn't work I'll leave you a comment. haha

  • great video! I love your hair. I'm going to try this tomorrow when I do my hair. thank you! : )

  • wow your hair is so beautiful!! This tutorial was so helpfull I stoped trying to curl with my flat iron cuz I wasnt doing it right and I didnt want to damage my hair but im going to try this thanks!!

  • iris, have you ever colored your hair sweety?

  • @Lubbcookie I haven't dyed it in over a yr, Usually I dye it black. Before that in 2007, I think, I dyed it light.

  • @ilovegerardo how do you sleep with this style to preserve it

  • @BriyannaandJay On my stomach and I pin as many curls up on top of my head.

  • loveeeeee ittt

  • THANK YOU IRIS, you're a genius..

  • how do you keep your hair so healthy with all the styling you do to it? Your hair is gorgeous!

  • @veronikka77 I use heat protectant and rarely use heat other than when I make videos. You should see my video on how I keep my hair healthy :)

  • Really?! Ahhh thank you soo much.....i was sooo doing it all kinds of wrong hahahaha woo whoo Iris to the rescue once again ;)

  • 1st :D

  • your hair is so beautiful and long... I love it.

oh Iris I have a question i hope you answer, i like in NYC and the weather is getting cooler and the back of my hair keeps getting tangled even when i'm not outside.

    What do you recommend?

  • Comment removed

  • @1800Scorpio you need to constantly detangle with a wide tooth comb. I keep one in my purse. You can also spray with a detangler in the mornings before styling.

  • @ilovegerardo Whenever I curl my hair it gets tangled. But I can't brush it out after I put hairspray all over it to hold the curls. What do you suggest I do to avoid these tangled curls?

  • @1800Scorpio : i agree - Iris's hair is beautiful ))

i have the same problem as u mentioned - the good deal is to hide the whole mass of your hair under a hat when go out. Cold weather is a great damager (especially for very long hair like mine).

  • @1800Scorpio I didn't know it was from the weather! I just thought i kept forgetting to comb!
