can you reload a 38 bullet/load into a 357 once-fired case?i found the 357 loads too much in my 2" revolver but dont want to waste the cases, also can you put a scope in the 1894?
Great video sir. I am thinking about buying one of those Marlins. Could you, when you get the time, make a quick video about the general disassembly of the Marlin 1894, say general field stripping and whathaveyou, or taking down to clear a nasty jam if need be.
Nice! I found this vid from a link, I was watching your .38 reload vids and this popped up at the end. Just getting into reloading 'cause of the prices for new ammo. I have a Ruger Security Six and a Winchester '94 both in .357 - most fun shootin' guns I've ever tried. That '94 can hit anything I want out to 100 yds, haven't tried further 'cause that's all my eyes are good for.
Nice Ruger GP 100. I have one just like and I love to shoot it so much that i bought another one. Your Marlin is really cool - I'm looking to buy one of those as well since I too reload .357 magnum and 38 special. Anyway thanks for the video. Keep them coming.
@ddlydrght Samuel Colt's advertising flyers in the 1850's referred to his big Colt Dragoon revolvers as "Revolving Holster Pistols"; the 36 cal 1851 Navy Colt was called a "Revolving Belt Pistol", and the little .31 cal revolvers were called "Revolving Pocket Pistols". Any weapon intended to be fired by one-hand operation is a "Pistol". A "revolver" is a specific class of pistol, just as an "automatic" is a specific class of Pistol.
Great videos, I like the way you put them together, when I watch a video I would rather learn from hearing what you have to say, most people add music which is annoying. Thanks
Sweet combo...I own an older 4" Smith 686 and a 1960's model 19...but those Ruger GP's have a very well designed lockup...i purchased an older 4" Smith 629 in 44 mag last year...Im also a reloader, and now im looking to get some pistol caliber lever guns as companion rifles to the wheelguns..makes sense ammo wise...Just search the web on what Paco Kelly achieved with his 357 mag handloads in lever actions... 180g bullets at 1800 fps...Thats not far off 35 rem ballistics..And 35 rem aint no joke.
you got a good deal on the Marlin. I just ordered the same rifle for 550. The guy said that there are currently two for sale in the country (with Gander Mtn.)
hey how is the 1894 in .357? I was thinking about getting the 336A or 336W chambered for 30-30, but the cost of rifle ammo is much more than 357s. pretty much all lever actions look like a lot of fun to shoot, and will be a nice alternative to my ar-15.
I have to disagree with the tack driving. My 1894CB in 45LC will give me 1" at 50 yards. In fact...I don't have a marlin that wont give me sub moa at 50 and 100 yards.
I think it would be ok out to fifty yards or so. I just use mine for plinking beer cans at the lease and such with .38's. In my opinion the best ranch gun in Texas is the AR-15. It has the accuracy to take down just about any animal around here with one well placed shot.
hey man im so glad i found this vid, im trying to decide between the exact two guns! what are the odds? but any way im leanin toward the marlin can u tell me more about it? like how accurate, reliable, and stuff like that. thanks man!
Glad you liked the video, the Marlin is a great gun. It is not a tack driver but I am using lead bullets mostly and just plink beer cans with mine. It is very reliable. If you can find a used older model I think you would like it better than a new one. Let me know what you get. The GP100 is a dandy too.
whats wrong with the newer ones? i think id have to go with a brand new one if i got it. yeah im hearin its not a tack driver but its accurate enough idk i just really like it cause of the smooth, reliable lever action. well none the less ill let ya know what i get!
Did you end up buying one? I just like the older ones with out the tang safety. The wood and finish is always nicer on the older guns. Now days they make things as cheap as possible.
I have a new marlin 1894 and an older 336 in 35 without the safety marlin still puts a nice finish on there guns.the new one is nice smooth and tight just like they should be. great vid and info thanks.
This is the combo I'm going for!

@sigma1atar You can reload your .357 with a lighter load if that is what you are asking. And yes, the 1894 is drilled and tapped for a scope.

would you recommend the marlin 1894 .357 for shooting deer up to 80 yards? or should i go with the marlin 1894 .44?
drumplayer93 1 year ago
Hi. Would you recommend the Marlin 1894C .357 Magnum for wild hog hunting in the woods?
androklesfb 1 year ago
@androklesfb Yes I would. It is nice and small for walking in the woods.

I have a Ruger GP100 (6 inch) .357 magnum and a Super Redhawk .44 magnum.
I had not thought of getting a rifle chambered in .357 until now.
Now do I buy .44 or .357 Marlin rifle.... or both :)

if you want to sell that marlin i would buy.

I wish they made a 5" or 5 1/2" GP-100, 6" is just too long for me and 4" isn't legal to hunt with (in my state).

I also have a Marlin 1894C, nice rifle.
I'm sorry to be picky but...the GP100 is a revolver...not a pistol.

I totally agree with this guy, guns are TOOLS and are meant to be used.
