I think this song is decent. It should have been on the VH Album 1985??? Not when it was released. If they were together in 85-86, this would have fit the bill. Just my opinion.

This really is one of Van Halens best songs. Lot of sound, one of their deeper songs as mentioned earlier, and probably their deepest song with Dave. They should have gotten back together after this was recorded, but all that matters is that they are back together now and they rock. Long Live Vintage VH!
I agree. I also happen to think Ed's solo at the end of this song is fantastic. Tons of feel!! This ending solo and the solo on One Foot Out The Door are 2 of my favorites.
They should get back together with Mike and do a proper reunion tour. I also think it would be cool if they played Yankee Rose on this tour just like they played I Can't Drive 55 their first year with Sammy. They wont play Yankee Rose, but it would be awesome to see Eddie play that intro were he would practicaly be talking on the guitar. That would be awesome.
That, and the radio (or at least most Amrican Radio Stations) don't like to play long songs. I remember Metallica's 'Bleeding Me' in '96 (8 minutes long) was being cut down big time by most of them.
I saw VH in philly and DC and they kicked ass both nights. Dave sounded great, eddie and alex have both still got it and Wolf was a fine replacement even though it would have been cool if mike was back. It isnt true Van Halen without Dave and Eddie playing together.

Yeah unfortunately this came out around the time Van Halen started to suck major ass. This shit sucks even with Roth on vocals. They really need to hire a singer who isn't a fucking laughing stock in the music industry. Roth is a joke but Hagar is an even bigger one.
I saw the show in Philly on 10-3-07. Wasn't sure what to expect, especially after listening to Me Wise Magic hearing Roth with his Blue Grass Band last year. But after seeing AND hearing the show, It's one not to be missed by any TRUE Van Halen Fan. It was like going to a show on every tour from Van Halen 1 to 1984.
Has anyone seen them recently as they rolled through your town? I havn't and probly won't plunk down the cash. God love Wolfgang im sure with his pedigree he's already a great musician but Im sorry Van Halen isn't Van Halen without Mike Anthony. Truthfully, Sammy Hagar took them to another level as a band. All I gotta say is Dave brings the blues out of Eddie and play's like a beast. This was so heavy and great that radio in Australia were playing this twice every hour. I guess we were waiting for the real VH, so "Somebody Get A Doctor" and tell VH 2007 to include Australia on the tour!!!
The song is brilliant but I was never crazy about the choruses where Mike's high pitched harmonies come in. They did the same thing with Hagar era songs. It just takes away from the dark, slinky, sexy tone of the songs.
I liked both Van Halen except when Gary Cherone sang for them...ironic, since he is easily the best singer of all three. Creatively though it was just not agood match I guess.

I think the differences between these two guys is quite apparent..DLR brought a different sound to Van Halen..Just as Sammy did..I thought they both were great during their stints with VH..Same band..2 different sounds..It works for me.
I checked out some clips of ed on the 2004 tour, and its sad to say the least. If hes clean, what about an album like the santana collaborations. Ya gotta love that idea, who would say no from past or present, if ed is clean. Opinion please oh great douche!
The only thing VH could possibly accomplish anymore is an album- tours -I think - are Dead. I think an album with 1, 2, or all 3 singers would be a great idea- but douche lee will have to ask for time off from plating pork sandwiches at his ribfest concerts-and Im not sure he has enough vacation time built up yet.

Dope has a wonderful sde effect of making people paranoid, distrusting, and full of themselves. Ed -regardless of his claims- had to be using meth , crack, or heroine. I bet meth. I really like Roth. I prefer Sammy. By the way, there are several tribute bands with the name 5150. Also, there is the band OU812 and "Best of Both Worlds." So, yes there are tribute bands playing Sammy. I've got to be honest though, the reason I have always listened to VH is because of Eddie, and I would probably listen to them if Jessica Simpson were their vocalist. Let's pray that NEVER happens.

I liked both Van Halen except when Gary Cherone sang for them...ironic, since he is easily the best singer of all three. Creatively though it was just not agood match I guess.

DLR is good and so was Sammy Hagar for the time he was in the band. I think we can all be in agreement on one thing inregardless if you are a DLR fan or a Van Hagar fan that Gary from VHIII BITES and should be burned (the record, NOT Gary who WAS good in extreme but come on. Van Halen???.....)

I think the differences between these two guys is quite apparent..DLR brought a different sound to Van Halen..Just as Sammy did..I thought they both were great during their stints with VH..Same band..2 different sounds..It works for me.

I checked out some clips of ed on the 2004 tour, and its sad to say the least. If hes clean, what about an album like the santana collaborations. Ya gotta love that idea, who would say no from past or present, if ed is clean. Opinion please oh great douche!

The only thing VH could possibly accomplish anymore is an album- tours -I think - are Dead. I think an album with 1, 2, or all 3 singers would be a great idea- but douche lee will have to ask for time off from plating pork sandwiches at his ribfest concerts-and Im not sure he has enough vacation time built up yet.

I think Eds arrogance has hurt this band with his dealings with sammy, alex, and dave. I agree dave is arrogant also, but he knows people want to hear van halen. Ed sits at home with his substance abuse while dave performs the old songs. Whatever his reasons are, and whatever the performance is, at least sammy and the tribute bands arent the only ones playing this music.

Dope has a wonderful sde effect of making people paranoid, distrusting, and full of themselves. Ed -regardless of his claims- had to be using meth , crack, or heroine. I bet meth. I hope he is clean and they can somehow get the chemicals in his head straightened out so he can function again in public. Time will tell.

Can I please watch one Van Halen video without seeing "ptacisback" with a post about how much he thinks DLR sucks? I agree with "careypeak23". Although I like all 3 =VH= styles, ask anyone "ptacisback", about 80% of people will say DLR is the best fit for =VH=. So if you don't like him, quit watching his videos. Just accept it for what it is. This is a great band no matter who is in front.

I really like Roth. I prefer Sammy. By the way, there are several tribute bands with the name 5150. Also, there is the band OU812 and "Best of Both Worlds." So, yes there are tribute bands playing Sammy. I've got to be honest though, the reason I have always listened to VH is because of Eddie, and I would probably listen to them if Jessica Simpson were their vocalist. Let's pray that NEVER happens.

listen to dave and michael singing and sammy and michael singing. There's no continuity. It's disjointed. Mike complements Dave but not sammy that's why it sounds different. Lyrics are better with sammy because they are a more mature band.

One thing is certain to my ears: the second solo Eddie plays is aboslutely top-notch. There's a couple of parts in that solo that just make tingles go down my spine. Eddie put some emotion into that second solo, no doubt about it.

I thought this song just smoked. Maybe we will see them perform this on stage someday. I understood the band was to do a video of this song to coincide with the release of the greatest hits in 97. Roth declined to do it when he found out that he would have been relegated to being an image on a screen behind the band.
