Haven't tried it out for myself, but people report that you can.

It makes sense, because the boots are scripted to let you survive one giant fall and then disappear from your inventory.

With that, you would also forfeit their intended purpose (quest).

I do not believe you played MorrowinD (TES III).

If you had, you would have seen the Oblivion's shortcomings, which were inspiration for the vast majority of the mods.

And mods allow you to adapt the world of Oblivion to your liking. Some like me choose lore-correct mods & mods that enhance visuals & immersion; some like anime like mods; some hilarity mods...

Some as yourself like the game as is.

And regarding your last sentence- actually they can, it's just that I'm not using those.

i must admit that i never really liked morrowind so i spent veeery litle time with that sequal... i know why mods exist but i just dont like them,like you say,i like it the way it is! maybe there are some good mods but nothing i saw atracts me so i don't intend to waste time using them and experimenting...

The way the game is isn't the way you're expected to play, not on pc, the team of bethesda themselves played the famous mods of morrowind and Oblivion. A lot of the content of skyrim has been added to fill the problems that oblivion had, and in doing so the team used a lot of inspiration from the mods and what the ppl want. They also hired a lot of modders you know ...

@thugzhill the enchancements for the boots of springheel jack stop it. And why would a few of the things you've seen n youtube (international home of perverts and freaks) stop you from getting a mod. "play it like its men to be played!" The developers released the construction kit so obviously the way its meant to be played is with a tad couple of mods, like deadly reflex to enchance combat or Vicionia as an realistic companion you must build a relationship with, and can go on a long ass quest.

For all those who've been asking about the Shivering Sword:

I'm currently replaying Oblivion, and I just came across the illusive Shivering Zombie Master. From what I gather, it is a random leveled encounter monster from MMM that obviously appears in Ayleid ruins after you've reached level 19 with your character (I'm currently level 19).

So, there you go. Level up and then go exploring Ayleid ruins ;)

i like lore friendly mods, but what's oblivion without a house of pleasure on imperial city (more quests) and a slave camp near skingrad (even more quests, a dead cult and funny servants to improve the boring tiber septim bro...err, hotel...) and i use ingame armors instead of mods... why should i use another when daedric, glass and orcish look good enough, even if i killed a guard to get that roman soldier armor and stole a blade armor from cloud ruler for my han (oriental race)

You can use the boots from the Thieves' guild quest line to survive that fall. It will break the boots though : /

@BabyPaulaPolestar there are actually multiple ways to complete the thieve's guild quest without using the boots. One of 'em is putting paintbrushes right below the hole that you fall out of along with stacking acrobatics in order to reduce fall damage. I think you can also fight your way out if the need arises. The wiki has better details on how to do it.

@rubenz2017 yeah, stacking acrobatics or doing the strategy I previously listed with the paintbrushes will help you survive the fall without dying. Whichever way you choose to do it though, it's been proven that it's possible and it's been shown that the boots will save you from any fall that would otherwise mean your death.

It's pretty awesome if you find that place while walking around Shivering Isles. One guy there got executed for having a beard. Sheogorath is the only person in Shivering Isles that's allowed to have facial hair.

I like the idea of a mod taking away the forced loading screen. Leaping off of mountains is some of the best fun you can have in Oblivion.  I hate it when a loading screen gets in the way of that.

When using mods (and I used A LOT), I always use only those that are lore correct, or do not interfere with the TES lore.

IMHO the TES universe is too well though out and I hate mods that "desecrate" it.
