greetings from Bali - Indonesia :)

  • i tune my baritone uke DGCF....does that make me a weirdo?

  • Now I play the baritone ukulele more than all the others. What a beautiful mellow sound they have. You have converted me. They are perfect for folk songs.

  • Can a Baritone Uke be tuned to GCEA without changing strings? I am new to this, and what are the best strings. Thanks for your video and advice

  • I bought a baritone and tuned like my littler ones....Nice to have my opinion backed by an expert . Lovely singing. The Kala Jazz tenor is my favourite . The sopranos are too small! Cheers from Australia-come visit!

  • 'ello I'm shawn conrey and I'm going to talk to you about ukulele today. thatsh not what your mother said.

  • Beautiful voice, very nice man and a lovely sound. But you look like you would have voted for Obama.

  • I love playing along with you in the key of G. That key fits your voice perfectly.

  • Give me bread, give me water and my share of love and I'll get along somehow. That is my new life motto =)

  • What a beautiful song. I started a new build today. A baritone ukulele. Do you tune GCEA or DGBE?

  • A friend figured out the Chord structure as:

    G, G7, C, C7 G, G, D7, D7

    G, G7, C, C7, G, D, G, G

    D, D, C, G, C, G, D, D, G, G7, C, C7, G, D7, G

3 Beats per chord - pinch, strum, strum.

The name of the sond is "Song of the Pioneer" and was written by Jimmy Driftwood.

Driftwood was famous for writing "Battle of New Orleans" made famous by Jimmy Horton.

  • I plan to learn this song and wanted to figure out the tuning and chords.

In another post I found that he uses the first four strings of a classical guitar and switches the order of them. Instead of 1,2,3,4, (floor to ceiling) he uses 2,3,4,1 (with 1 being closest to your head.). He then tunes dGBE to get the re-entrant sound,. Another way to do this is to replace the 4th sting with the high E sting from a classical guitar (some stores will sell individual strings) and tune to d.

  • WOW! You killed it! (That's a good thing)

  • @DonricoAsian Soprano - Tenor is GCEA(Tenor can have low G) baritone is DGBE, but I personally tune my baritone to GCEA so I don't have to learn new notes.

  • nice

  • Wonderful voice!

  • Great voice and playing, too... You do that Uke a lot of justice! Great song lyrics as well.

  • brought a tear to my eye :)

  • You're marvelous! :)

  • Lovely

    & your good self!

  • Wonderful voice, mister!

  • Wow - what a great voice. I liked the comparison of the baritone and re-entrant ukes, as well.

  • what a voice, thanks for sharing

  • ur voice surprised me, its great!

  • what a relief, someone finally playing baritone ukulele the way it was meant to be.

  • With a voice like that, you can assume that the ladies don't giggle when he drops his trousers.

  • Not at all my usual type of music, but this is great and your voice is spectacular. I'm considering buying a baritone ukelele even though (and because) acoustic guitars have been my main intsrument - but I'm unsure what re'entract' tuning means, apart from the fact that the 4th string is obviously higher than the usual 'D'. Is it an octave higher? (I'm used to that concept with the 12 string and can see how that would work).

  • To answer my own query ... I just found this via Google ... 'Baritone ukuleles use a standard D-G-B-E tuning like the top four strings of a guitar. You can tune a baritone ukulele in two alternate tunings, G-C-E-A re-entrant and D-G-B-E re-entrant. G-C-E-A re-entrant is the same tuning as a soprano ukulele. D-G-B-E re-entrant means the D string is pitched an octave higher than in normal D-G-B-E tuning.'

  • i tune my baritone in a C low

is that one of the 2 lol

  • make more ukulele videoss!!!!!!!!

    i love.

  • Brilliant!!

  • Very, very nice. Thank you.

  • Yeah i was looking at a green one just like that one great sound $29.99 + 6% tax

love my baritone -but i tune it different than stantard

  • Just beautiful playing and singing!

  • What is that first ukulele that you play?

  • That green uke he had looked to be a Mahalo u-30. It's $30USD with a gig-bag.

  • Sounds pretty good for a $30 uke. I'll check it out. Thanks!

  • Sounds pretty good for a $30 uke. I'll check it out. Thanks!

  • No problem but he probably put new strings on it. I just got my Mahalo u-50 and I want to change my strings right away. So that'll add maybe $10 max. depending on shipping.

  • that was lovely, thank you

  • Really nice playing and a great voice - I tune my baritone that way too, for that bright Uke sound - otherwise it just feels like half a guitar to me - glad to find someone else who does too. If you met Annie and Mac at Crisfield , I'm guessing you must be familiar with Pat and Patrick too....great folks! who've got me started on the banjo via youtube and tangiersound - Thanks for this great video - Best wishes Andy

  • so what is the correct tunning for that?

  • So, do you keep the same tuning that is familiar with the baritone, DGBE ??

Nice song and nice voice, thanks

  • Thanks for the information, didn't know it was tuned with the lower G.

Good voice and playing too! Thanks! :)

  • Nice song - IM a big fan of the uke in general, but especially the baritone uke.

  • Brilliant. I spent a day with Annie and Mac in their cabin Virginia when I was over for the musicians retreat in Crisfield. They were wonderful folk.

  • I enjoyed that. Good video info to.

    Thank you. Justin xxy

  • What an amazing voice you have... great work!
