Is he famous for the facial expressions that he makes while driving? Do all of the racing drivers make those g force faces while they are in their closed mouthed helmets?

I get the impression that Jacky does not suffer fools gladly! Hell, if I had managed to eke out a brilliant victory in an obsolete Ford GT40 at the 1969 LeMans 24 Hours against all odds I wouldn't either.

What kind of R8 is that? Is it one of the GT3 cars with RWD?

This is not one of the GT 3 cars. It is the Taxi which is used by the DTM to show some VIPs how it is to drive in a Racecar.

Jacky Ickx is really incredible. I remember his victories in F1, endurance, rallies... The most complete racing driver I have ever seen: here in Italy Jacky is always a legend...

@ridleydamocles I like him too.. but the accident of Stefan Bellof was in my eyes his fault too.. he have not give space for a overtake from bellof and they two colide.. and bellos was killed by hitting the concrete behind the wall. Bellos was born a few kilometers away from my village. A great driver... but like the most of them sadly dead.

@w33z0r Stefan Bellof was one of the greatest talents of all times, I think he was like Stirling Moss and Jim Clark, so able as unlucky.

But I disagree with you about the guilt in the fatal accident at Spa. I've seen many times the video from Ickx's car, and I think his trajectories were right: it's impossible to overtake at Eau Rouge and above all it's impossible to imagine a serious and experienced racing driver like Ickx taking this risk voluntarily.

@ridleydamocles Thats true that no normal human overtakes at the Eau Rouge.. but Bellof want to overtake Ickx at a speed of 240 kph.. ok it wasnt ickx faul because this was a move from bellof wo no one in the whole world thought that he over take him there bit i think also that bellof have overtaken ickx if he gave him the space to do. Do you know the world record on the Nordschleife is it at this time even the 6:12 from Bellof from.. 1983 ?

@w33z0r Oh yes! I know the record lap on the Nordschleife, and I think Bellof was faster than Ickx in that particular moment of their carreers.

I also remember a sensational lap on the old Nordschleife (before restoration in '70s): in 1967 F1 and F2 cars ran together and Ickx (at the age of 22) scored the third fastest time behind Clark and Hulme, but with a F2 car!

I'd like to remember Bellof and Ickx for these feats, not only for the accident.
