  • I think I was too young to remember when Tom Kennedy hosted Primetime TPIR

  • LMAO ur gonna trip down the golden road lol

  • Did Tom enter from the audience?

  • my favorite number one game

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Tom Kennedy at the Game Show Congress 5. He is such a down-to-earth and funny guy. What he did for the game show industry among others is incredible. He is a man of class and brings what game shows are all about--the contestants who win.

  • 1985

  • Tom Kennedy shows how this game should be hosted. Drew Carry's incessant mugging and condescending tone have destroyed this classic show. The focus should be on the contestants and the games, not Carry's stand-up. I haven't been able to bear TPIR since he took over.

  • I think the Golden Road sign changed around the same time Any Number and Hole In One (or Two) got their current looks, which was 1986 and the primetime specials.

  • i never knew gene woods did tpir

  • He took over after Johnny Olson's passing. Three months later, Rod Roddy took over the helm until his death in 2003.

  • They've done that with Drew's version all but once. Drew did do an audience entrance for GR on June 23rd

  • Bad, were you possibly in NYC? They had a really shitty clearance at 230am supposedly. I was lucky, Dayton had this at 730pm

  • GREAT CLIPS! THANK YOU!

  • I am a lover of TPIR but when did Tom Kennedy do the show? and as silly as this sounds were there 2 versions (day and night)? also, when were these espidoes on gsn?

  • First of all, don't apologize for asking a question. I'd much rather you did that than guess and post your guess as if it was a factual statement. :-)

Second, Tom hosted the nighttime version of the show during the 1985-86 season while Bob stayed at the helm for the daytime version.

  • damn i want those envelopes!

  • that sewing maching looked like crap

  • all sweing machines are crap. who makes their own clothes anymore unless they really want to..

  • Was this the episode where Tom was still entering through the Door #2 even with Golden Road being the episode Pricing Game #1?

  • Bob was still entering that way then.

  • "these are your fans!" lol. :)

  • uhh does the chick laying on the simmons beauty rest have a top on?

  • Yes.

  • I wonder if any nighttime episodes will play on The TPIR dvd.

  • Gene Wood on the announcing, even! Great find!

  • Would like to see some intros from the Kennedy tpir.

  • Then look at my other videos. :-)

  • I hope I get to be a game show host in the future like Tom Kennedy.

  • Hey Adam, I have a somewhat silly question.

Was Golden Road ever WON on the Tom Kennedy TPIR?

  • I have three playings on DVD from Tom's version and they're all losses. That doesn't totally answer your question, but...you know...

  • Well, thanks anyway. Personally, I have to believe it was, I just thought it would be nice if we could see it for ourselves. We might, but......

  • Yeah, it certainly would be nice to see them all. (I think this is where we saw the one and only FERRARI ever offered on TPiR...)

  • @DrLove0378 And that's what Drew will probably want appearing on the show again.

  • A commercial for the Kennedy version showed a Golden Road win, but I cannot confirm it was a "real" episode, just the car and price.

  • @flokatirug I remember watching the series when it first aired and there was a win on the Golden Road. If I remember correctly, she won over $60K and if she would have won her showcase, her grand total for the day would have been over $100K - quite a bit for the mid '80s.
