  • glastonbury/ a gr8 weekend for all the plastics, get ripped off, shite music ,shite drugs and waterd down beer,4got your roots and sold out, glastonbury belongs to the poor.

  • still the best year i went x

  • beautiful days...best of the best bits...no bad bits

  • \\\\\\\\\\\\\i agree that all the heart has left Glastonbury, I know there was a need for a change after the problems we had with each other during the large travelling days and alot of peeps went into the money making side of things instead of just turning peeps onto a trip etc its got just like it got in 90. We just lost it. It is nice to have it cleaner and not having fuckin stewards robbing us and selling our gear but its gone too far, I dont know what the answer is tho.

  • @GasMaskHeadhunter the answer is perhaps to compete head on with glastonbury festival - find a good location (anywhere on the Devon coast) and have a big green element to it along with some interesting bands (a bit like glastonbury 1989 before things began to turn for the worse).Basically the beautiful days festival with Rockness and Womad all rolled in one that should do the trick!

  • @revol148 It already exists - it's called "Beautiful Days".

  • @ega95jch yes - fair point (I've never been but have heard great things about it) Judging from the photos though it does lack the stunning settings of either the greeman or Rockness festivals.I take it you were once a glasto-goer now driven into exile eh?

  • surprised he didnt say 'is it cuz i iz black'

  • glasto !! hippy whatnot !! (erm , gong etc ) thats what got tha whole ball rollin wonnit ?? thanx for tha thums up dude ;)

  • To be honest i can see Eavis' point of view. Firstly, i have absolutely nothing against people wanting to live the traveller lifestyle, infact, i wish i could join you. But from what he says, he let people onto his land for several years running, gave them water, a safe place to stay, and they repay him by destroying several of his vehicles, costing him money and ruining the laidback, free vibe that Glasto strives for... Once again, it's the idiocy of the few ruining it for every bugger else!

  • @laura2908 I bet you everything I own that the damage that any travellers done will be far less than what Drunken Chavs will cause. Its a step away from becoming a Giant Leeds festival. Plus the music they have started to choose is plain wrong, I don't know whether its Eavis or his daughter but they are ruining it.

I was last there is 2005 and it was nothing like the Glasto of old.. (except the mud)

    Have they Banned Fires yet?

  • @TheCumbrianHobo I see your point, but at least with the drunken chavs he has some insurance as they've paid for a ticket. I'm not entirely sure whether the travellers paid very much...could be completely wrong though :/.

Hmm, yeah it's become far too corporate for my liking, maybe it's the sponsors pulling all the strings?

  • @laura2908 Laura, Eavis would have NOTHING if it weren't for us.. "The Travellers" He took our Annual celebration and sold it out to the darkside. Even if we paid nothing for our Tickets, back then tickets cost Nothing and we ALWAYS provided services and Entertainment because thats what our Culture is all about. Eavis basically Raped and beat us for his own personal gain and thats the be all and end all of it.

  • @TheCumbrianHobo yes fires were banned a long time ago, tho trying to lite a fire in that swamp may be a bit of a task!! hahahah I haven't been since 91' yes Eavis I sneaked in Incognito even tho you forbade me to come back.... shame you chose the darkness instead of the light mate.. but then, thats your problem!!

  • @elleanarchy :) Like I said I think fires were still allowed in 2005 as they were selling firewood, we had one anyway, but then again there was around 20 off us it could have escalated had they try to stop us.

I remember Leeds in '03 I nearly died from hyperthermia (hypo?) due to no fires,Glasto was at least a step up for that. I dont believe its totally lost its way (in spirit) as ppl still try to make it like glasto of old, its just the main stages and Radio 1 influence that kills it for me

  • @TheCumbrianHobo what festivals do you go to now then - or have you given up altogether? Say what you like about glasto (and everyone seems to knock it big time nowadays) it IS still the best of a bad bunch. There really needs to be some opposition to it - and NO I don't think V festival/Reading/Leeds/Isle of wight is any form of credible oppostion! What year did you first go may I ask?

  • @TheCumbrianHobo I thought it was Emily who was the problem, but a mate recently told me it's the other way round. Eavis is the one who's lost the plot (if he ever really had one) and Emily's trying to revert to the days when it was a great festival. Never again - Beautiful Days here I come.

  • @ega95jch Is there a "problem"? You mean having Coldplay on the pyramid stage (almost) every year?

  • @laura2908 dont comment on something you know nothing about.. i was there, my ex was attacked by Eavis, his Bristol Yardie Security were going round robbing us and trashing our vehicles and setting them on fire and beating us and festival goers up, basically Eavis employed Thugs as Security, when the Travellers complained Eavis got Nasty and the whole situation escalated after their violence. Eavis sorted the whole thing by Calling in a massive Squad of Riot Police who then Intimidated Families

  • @laura2908 Most of these Families were fresh out of the Beanfield so The mental Damage the whole thing caused was as bad as the physical damage done to us, we're treated like lepers and all we want to do is wake YOU sheeple up and ask you to STOP accepting the crap that world governments throw at us. scuze us for caring, dont think we'll bother anymore tho, youre welcome to your hell!!

  • @elleanarchy so live outside the system eh - is that the way forward? Blagging free tickets to glastonbury (way too cool to buy your own evidently!) and living off the state (from so-called tax paying "sheeple" - happy to take their money of course!).I have met way too many travellers at various anti-motorway demos in the early to mid 1990's: most were totally out for themselves and for the most part utterly miserable (you must have met some of the better people I'm guessing)

  • It's been shit since 1997. Glasto ended in 1997 before all the radio 1 threats etc... metal fences, exclusion zones.
