  • Aperture Science.

  • you are very sexy ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ jejejeje

  • This is awesome that you're explaining this :D I wish I understood photography like that D;

  • what's the difference between aperture and ISO???

  • Looks Like Thor!

  • Your videos are made for kids, right?

  • my head already hurts, but your knowledge is sexy.

  • isn't "depth of field" actually the opposite of what you state? a lower f-stop results in a shallower DOF, which, as you state, results in a blurrier background. That would be Less, not More DOF. More effect, yes. But less depth. "More Depth" implies the opposite, a larger focal range derived from a higher f-stop. Call me nitpicky, but this one will confuse folks!

  • @akaflk I agree with you this guy has it ass backwards the lower the F stop the less depth of field you have.

Also he neglected to mention the fact that when you lower the F stop you are forced into using a faster shutter speed to obtain a proper exposure.

  • @akaflk you are correct.

  • Trying to get into the film program and your vids somewhat help on the basics I forgot, but subbed just in case you go like crazy advanced or some cool shooting.

  • man finally someone did this tutorial

  • Corey, what do u think about the lenses canon and nikon made way back when with f/ 0.95?

Great tutorials, im a huge fan of your vids. my career is photography, and its awesome to see a good basis for people to get a grasp on this stuff!

    keep it up!!!!!!

  • you should do a "top 10 best camreas to buy" or something that b cool :D

  • lol who the hell is we....all I see is you!

  • 100mm L 2.8 IS

    I want :D

  • @fatboynate2 Good eye!

  • jargon is fancy talk for fancy talk

  • for some reason i like hi voice.to me it sounds like is nose is stoped up

  • i don't learn anything from these videos... Your face is too distracting

  • @TheMagnificentAeon he is hot (:

  • @Ailensinvadethe970 as hell ;D

  • Do you have a hickey on your neck??

  • actually the most a less can open is f/. 0, but currently that is not possible.

and with a a larger aperture the less depth of field, i.e shallow depth of field?

  • And yeah, you get less Dept of Field (but more "DOF-effect" and a greater separation between foreground and background) with a bigger aperture/lower f-value.

I don't mean to hate/troll etc, just that, even though this is aimed for beginners, you seem to want to teach the basic facts about photography. But then you should have the right facts, or you'll confuse the beginners....

  • Technically the "best"/"lowest" value for aperture isn't f/1..

The value represents the ratio between the "length of the lens" and the size of the aperture. So if you have a 28mm lens set to f/2.8 your aperture would have a diameter of 10mm.

A lens could have a bigger aperture than f/1, but they're rare due to limiting factors as size and manufacturing restrictions.

But it shouldn't be too hard to create a short lens (<28mm) with a bigger aperture than f/1 (especially for "full frame" cameras).

  • aperture science portal companion cube haha bahaha jaja lol rofl XD

we all get it, now be kind enough to shut the fuck up

  • Explain the f/0.95 lenses then smart ass.

  • why would aperture be adjustable? in what situation? it seems pointless as u lose picture quality.. anyone know?

  • @pipkin1973 you never loose quality, as whenever you change your aperture, you HAVE to change everything else (as in shutterspeed and iso) :) aperture is actually the most important thing for a photographer, but i wont go into that in detail, thats hard to understand :D lol

  • @PortalHunter Hahah i just sang in to myself

  • "the more open the lens is, so the lower the f-stop, the more depth of field you get"

MOREEEE, you want MOREEE? trying shooting at f/22..

by the way, thanks for the "correct terminology"

  • I love the "I'm sorry" at the end. So Canadian.

  • 0:42

"The lower the f-stops, the more depth-of-field you get."

Isn't your DOF small (aka, it's very shallow) when your aperture is large?

  • @blaaaaaaah2 haha was just about to write that

i think i still will, he doesn't know what's he talking about

  • I clicked this because it said "Aperture". I have played too much portal...

  • Aperture Science... we do what we must... because.. we can. :)

  • Lens Opening == Portal Gun?

  • I learned new stuff today :D

  • @PortalHunter lol, i was literally singing "Science" as i read your comment, great minds think alike :P

  • @PortalHunter This was a triumph!

  • @NerdfighterAlli I'm making a note here, "Huge Success"

  • @DerRelienT It's hard to over state my satisfaction :P

  • @DerRelienT It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.

  • @rizi951 Aperture science, we do what we must because we can.

  • @TimBricks For the good of all of us, except the ones who are dead.

  • @racoonknux49 but there's no sense crying over every mistake.

  • @racoonknux49 But there's no sense crying over every mistake

You just keep on trying till you run out of cake

And the science gets done and you make a neat gun

For the people who are still alive.

  • @DerRelienT Its Hard to Over state My satisfaction

  • @DerRelienT for the people whose case don't have success, " just keep no trying till you run out of cake"

  • bahahah you sound like my photography teacher

  • @tyfmmfl Oh wow I read that as pornography... forgive me its late haha.

  • @compnerd2797 bahahaha win

  • @tyfmmfl The worst part is, I started taking everything Corey said as some odd innuendos...

  • this was actually helpful, thank you!
