This is baffling. I don't think that a normal adult would call himself the executive. Then again, he is supposedly a creative Hollywood executive. The fact that he hasn't talked to you yet makes me think he is a fake and was just messing with you. A shadow, a rumor, a myth? That sounds a little childish or just creative thought. I hope films like Avatar become sucessful, very successful. Why? Because its a sign of movie hope; a movie thats completely original and creates the necessary traits required for a classic in the making; good story, good characters, and good plot. District 9 was also a very good sign.

ben x was a smart movie and where the wild thigns are is a intelligent movie and a popular one at that along with district 9 and zombie land. the demand for clever and thought provoking movies is still there. I just think hollywood needs to back them up a little more and save their pennies in case they fail and have to let some other movie studio come in.

Wasn't it like 3 years ago that every major studio had some sort of tentpole remake? To me it seemed kind of wierd tha it just so happened that way. I kinda had a feeling that there was some central brain trust who decided that re-makes were the goal for the studios that year.

Although the moviepocalypse is on the horizons, there are still signs of hope: Watchmen, District 9, and Funny People. Three great films released this year. Sure, I wish there were more great films, but we'll see what the future brings.

Its easy to believe that the moviepocalyspe happens spontaneously w/ the audiences getting dumber and the studios delivering them dumb films, but why would there be a conspiracy behind it? I agree; it is more plausible that the Moviepocalypse is occurring simply because audiences are willing to pay money for crappy movies, which in turn causes movie studios to keep making these movies, because they know we will pay to see them. And the cycle goes on. Why would there have to be a conspiracy in order for this to happen?
Whether the Moviepocalypse is accidental or intentional, it's certainly worth considering the possibilities. Getting people to "honestly" work together at the scale some of these conspiracy theories suggest is next to impossible. Though it wouldn't be at all surprising if at some smaller scale, some group was benefiting from the state of filmmaking today... It's certainly not the emerging filmmakers.

The idiot demographic has become the largest demographic by supporting crappy films that have zombified people's minds into thinking most of these new and crappy films are good films. We can't rely on the critics anymore because they are being too soft on these new films due to the sheer amount of crappy films being made and the good ones rapidly becoming extinct.
I watched some movies at a film festival last August and September. You needn't limit yourself exclusively to Hollywood, there are lots of good movies made elsewhere that few people in the Anglosphere have heard of.
The good thing is, in a lot of countries, movies are treated as art forms and they're funded by government grants to maintain artistic integrity.

PART 3: Now Across the universe it was a brilliant story that WAS NOT based on a book, remake, or any of that crap but it was based off Beatles songs. BUT in all the songs that they made it never came to a story like it was in the movie. The writer was a fan and so he came up with a love story that was very creative and original and also a musical that was NEVER EVEN ON STAGE! It all came from the right side of the brain where all the creativity came from. You see SOME people can come up with..
Part 2: Cause James Cameron could not make that kinda world without CGI this is where it REALLY comes to use. Now for the new movie Public Enemies There was no CGI in that movie what so ever just "Effects" by meaning effects I just mean Green Screen. Now after watching that movie I researched and found out they only put the green in some sets just to EXTEND set like Set Extension. But overall they DID NOT EVER USE CGI!. Same with Across The Universe. Which I will talk about in Part 3
I totally agree with everything. Visual effects where FIRST use for stuff that are impossible to do like for example Forest Gump they needed Tom Hanks to be shaking hands for JFK but that was impossible so they used visual effects for tom hanks to you know do the scene. It's only good for that kinda stuff not for constant CGI shots. But now in days people are taking advantage of it. James Cameron only needed visual effects for Avatar for the same reason as George lucas did for Star Wars.

Im sorry, but Im so tired of being made afraid of something that is threatening me for one reason or another- movies are at the very last of my list of terrible things. Wasn't it like 3 years ago that every major studio had some sort of tentpole remake? To me it seemed kind of wierd tha it just so happened that way. I kinda had a feeling that there was some central brain trust who decided that re-makes were the goal for the studios that year.

Come on it's not that bad, I understand that most movies are adaptations, sequels, and reboots, but let's face it most of them manage to be somewhat good especially now, we got Batman from Christopher Nolan, Hellboy from Guirmo De Toro, Superman/x-men (the good ones) from Richard Donner/Bryan Singer, Cloudy with a chance of meatballs, Slumdog Millionaire,

It's great to see you back, MoviePreviewCritic. I know now, without a doubt, as these updates and surroundings upon us to look onto a Good Movie Future, I know in my heart and future ideas for filmmaking that this is going to be quite interesting. Woah I thought this was all a joke but some of this stuff seems to random to be made up "storycorp"(?) wtf.... Its easy to believe that the moviepocalyspe happens spontaneously w/ the audiences getting dumber and the studios delivering them dumb films, but why would there be a conspiracy behind it? For now it just seems like a little film buff prank, the only thing that makes this guy seem legit is the robot voice.

I agree; it is more plausible that the Moviepocalypse is occurring simply because audiences are willing to pay money for crappy movies, which in turn causes movie studios to keep making these movies, because they know we will pay to see them. And the cycle goes on. Why would there have to be a conspiracy in order for this to happen?

Whether the Moviepocalypse is accidental or intentional, it's certainly worth considering the possibilities. Getting people to "honestly" work together at the scale some of these conspiracy theories suggest is next to impossible. Though it wouldn't be at all surprising if at some smaller scale, some group was benefiting from the state of filmmaking today... It's certainly not the emerging filmmakers.

By the way, i have to ask: Have you seen Surrogates? I enjoyed it alot..it certainly held more moral value within the story than the "Summer of Shit", Frankly, all the movies I saw comming out for this fall look 10x more interesting than what Summer threw at us.

I watched some movies at a film festival last August and September. You needn't limit yourself exclusively to Hollywood, there are lots of good movies made elsewhere that few people in the Anglosphere have heard of.
The good thing is, in a lot of countries, movies are treated as art forms and they're funded by government grants to maintain artistic integrity.

PART 3: Now Across the universe it was a brilliant story that WAS NOT based on a book, remake, or any of that crap but it was based off Beatles songs. BUT in all the songs that they made it never came to a story like it was in the movie. The writer was a fan and so he came up with a love story that was very creative and original and also a musical that was NEVER EVEN ON STAGE! Part 2: Cause James Cameron could not make that kinda world without CGI this is where it REALLY comes to use. Now for the new movie Public Enemies There was no CGI in that movie what so ever just "Effects" by meaning effects I just mean Green Screen. Now after watching that movie I researched and found out they only put the green in some sets just to EXTEND set like Set Extension. But overall they DID NOT EVER USE CGI!. Same with Across The Universe. Which I will talk about in Part 3

I totally agree with everything. Visual effects where FIRST use for stuff that are impossible to do like for example Forest Gump they needed Tom Hanks to be shaking hands for JFK but that was impossible so they used visual effects for tom hanks to you know do the scene. It's only good for that kinda stuff not for constant CGI shots. But now in days people are taking advantage of it. James Cameron only needed visual effects for Avatar for the same reason as George lucas did for Star Wars.

that is too true, while filmakers can still make what they want it costs alot to put into theathers. so the only ones that can afford it have to find a way to either make money or cut loses every time. thus why we get only remakes adaptions and reboots.
