The extraordinary claim that the god that somebody decided to imagine at some point in time really exists is hard to disprove, and you are, as you say free to chose wether to believe it or not. With the age of the Earth, I feel that some basic laws of thermodynamics can disprove the millions and billions of years that scientists impose. Everything that heats up, must cool down. there is no way that the earth could have stayed hot for that long... it's impossible, I'm not totally sure but I've heard of math being worked out and a number around 45,000 years comes up, but it's not my work so I have no idea, just a fun little fact. :)
I think you did a pretty good job with your explanation. I was not exactly raised in a true Christian home myself. I did go to Church as a young boy and sunday school for awhile and as a teenager I choice to believe that God was real and that Jesus was the son of God, but I was 32 when I choose to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ as my lord and savior. You and I might disagree on certain things but we can agree that there is a God or a Creator. Religion is not perfect but God is.

Actually there are different 'types' of athiesm, some of them DO outright claim that there is no god, as opposed to mildly objecting the existence of god based on lack of evidence.
Firstly, the burden of proof lies with the one making the claims. Atheist's simply say, OK, where's your evidence? An argument that states it must be so because it can't be disproved, is very weak indeed (Google "Russell's Teapot").
Secondly, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." (AC Clarke). Just because you can't conceive how things could come to be without invoking a God, isn't evidence of anything at all - except perhaps your own laziness and arrogance.

Science and history can disprove the god as defined in the bible. Because of this, people say you can't take the bible literally, which is fine and I'm glad most people don't. But if you aren't using the Bible's christian god as your definition of god, then you should specify what you are talking about. Also I'd like to point out Atheist don't have "Faith", faith is believing in something without actual evidence to support the claim. That is what Religious people have. Science does, to some reasonable degree, disprove the existence of the Christian God, but not absolutely of course. Nothing can absolutely disprove anything, but certain concepts can be rendered untenable, or superfluous.

Science can't disprove, or in fact, prove, Gods existence. God is not falsifiable or testable, therefor, not provable on either side.
The best anyone can do is prove him philosophically, or disprove him the same way.
However, claims made in religious texts, such as the bible or quran, can be disproved, but, and I stress this, that does NOT disprove a god.
That is where our reason and logic come in. Is God a reasonable answer? No, not in the least.

With the age of the Earth, I feel that some basic laws of thermodynamics can disprove the millions and billions of years that scientists impose. Everything that heats up, must cool down. there is no way that the earth could have stayed hot for that long... it's impossible, I'm not totally sure but I've heard of math being worked out and a number around 45,000 years comes up, but it's not my work so I have no idea, just a fun little fact. :)

I think you did a pretty good job with your explanation. I was not exactly raised in a true Christian home myself. I did go to Church as a young boy and sunday school for awhile and as a teenager I choice to believe that God was real and that Jesus was the son of God, but I was 32 when I choose to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ as my lord and savior. You and I might disagree on certain things but we can agree that there is a God or a Creator. Religion is not perfect but God is.

Firstly, the burden of proof lies with the one making the claims. Atheist's simply say, OK, where's your evidence? An argument that states it must be so because it can't be disproved, is very weak indeed (Google "Russell's Teapot").

The reason that the Big Bang is argued by many theists is because it falsifys the 6 days of creation and evolution threatens many theists because it claims a more valid point than god breathing onto dust and *boom* humans are in existence.
Evolution and Big Bang do not threaten the possibility of God.

Really? Where does it say in the bible that it is not to be taken seriously? And why are there then so many people who do take it seriously. Besides, bible is filled woth contradictions. Not to mention that many of the stories are taken from the myths and stories of older civilizations. And what about all the passages about stoning and slavery. Also, let's not forget that bible has gone through huge changes, source problems are huge and that many of the storie were pu to paper

Science is not used to disprove God. The point is that you must prove God exists Scientifically. As far as i know God can not be proven or disproven. Show your evidence of a God then I'll believe your hypothesis after a peer review process of other scientists.

God is a religious belief system based on faith. If there really was scientific evidence for God, then God would not be a faith based religious concept, he would be an accepted part of the natural world that could be studied, measured and falsified like every other aspect of the natural world.

God is like a UFOs. UFO just stands for Unidentified Flying Object. Do Unidentified Flying Objects exist. Yes, if you se something flying and you don't know want it is it's unidentifies, so it is a UFO. So if I see a UFO is pobally just a plane, hot ait balloon or something and not some alien vehicle.

The fact that it cannot be proven that god does not exist is irrevelent, thats a crutch Christians heavily rely upon. Having faith is an intrinsically irrational suspension of critical thinking, the burden of proof lies with those making irrational claims, not the sensible 3rd party who chooses to refrain from accepting the fairytales, its a concept called Russells Teapot. By most Christians' logic, you should be willing to accept that there is a magic invisble purple dragon in my garage.

I'm an atheist, I don't believe in god just because I don't see anything that would suggest a god. I understand that you can't prove he doesn't exist . I think the whole science/religion thing that is going on mainly is just that, science/religion, not science/god. The bible doesn't prove anything.

Science and history can disprove the god as defined in the bible. Because of this, people say you can't take the bible literally, which is fine and I'm glad most people don't. But if you aren't using the Bible's christian god as your definition of god, then you should specify what you are talking about. Maybe some atheists would beleive in the same definition of god that you use? It just doesn't work to use such vague arguments, and then try to apply them to something more specific.
