  • Anything?

  • Is this reversible?

Can you run apps on it?

    Does multitouch work?

  • @rebelyelleasyrider Yeah, it's reversible, it runs apps that are installed already and ones that are in the built in app store, but there isn't multitouch. The Archos 5 has a resistive touchscreen that doesn't support multitouch.

  • @cusinndzl "Resistive touchscreen technology can be made to support multi-touch input" Good ol' wiki... You should find out how to do this and make a tutorial or something.

  • @rebelyelleasyrider Interesting, I'll check that out.

  • @cusinndzl hello, have you checked how to support multitouch on archos 5? thanks a lot.

  • can you make a video tutorial on how to put froyo to archos 5 it gen 7?

  • where can I get the new update

  • @MsElisabeth3 openaos (dot) org

  • @cusinndzl when Archos 5 it android 2.2 coming out do they have a new one coming for this year or next year Archos 5 IT please?

  • @goodson305 Well there are new models of the Archos with Froyo installed, and Gingerbread and Honeycomb ones are coming in the future. But for this device it's just Froyo at this point in time.

  • just a quick question. can you go back to donut by choosing the other options at the boot screen? if so, what is the option?

  • @n140ethan You can. Archos|ANDROID|/androidroot.cramfs.secure|/init|0

  • A tut would be nice

especially when there is a stable version!

  • I only use mine in my car for music and GPS, are those stable on yours?

  • @zoik333 Not yet.

  • Is there a stable release yet?

  • @zoik333 Not yet.

  • @cusinndzl Do you think it will happen or are they gonna give up..seems like theres a lot of things to fix..browser, GPS, actually there was a huge list on the openaos site. haven't checked it recently .not too mention Android 3.0 is out.

  • @zoik333 I think it will happen, it's a ways away though.

  • does the keyboard work already?

  • @ekno96 It works well enough to use for me.

  • do you now if its fully funkcional yet

  • @Paganaramis Not quite yet, but much better than it was.

  • @akthm11 You might have to find a copy somewhere on the Internet if you don't have it. I'd chat with the people at openaos (dot) org.

  • @akthm11 The Meego is something I'm working on, and if you don't have that file you might have to download it.

  • Could you make a tutorial?

  • @GamenReview I have one, just search my channel.

  • @cusinndzl Yeah saw it yesterday, i did as you told me, and i worked, BUT i could not use normal archos anymore xD

Then i deleted it, idk how, and my archos didnt want to start, and it stuck on ångström d:

But i formated the disk, now everything is gone :D

Could you tell me the content of your menu.lst then i can boot up my normal archos too?

  • @GamenReview Here you go:

    Archos|ANDROID|/androidroot.cramfs.secure|/init|0

    FroyoAlpha3|/dev/sda1|/froyo3.img|/init|0

    MeeGo|/dev/sda1|/meego.img|/init|0

    FroyoAlpha1|/dev/sda1|/froyo1.img|/init|0

    openAOS_Angstrom|/dev/sda1|/rootfs.img|/sbin/init|1

    what do i do now

  • @5258577 Boot to the recovery menu by holding the power - button on boot, then mount it on your PC under the developer menu. Then put the files on the Archos.

  • i did install the developer edition on it but i forgot to put the other filles on it

    what do i do now

  • dude that is sick like im loving my archos 5 more then ever can't wait to figure wat more i cud do wit it suck it apple

  • @LilMoreno703202 Yeah, these are some sweet devices, I'm glad I went for this over an iPod Touch.

  • please prepare the archos 7 tutorial

  • @muhsingullu I really don't have an Archos 7 so I can't try things out with that.

  • Is the video ready on how to install the froyo?

  • @facebongo Yes just search my channel for the video.

  • .Great Vids. Do know when the complete package is roughely going to be completed. Does it also mean the archos 5 will have flash 10.1 and be able to stream tv bbc iplayer, megavedio etc. Or can u use google market place for iplayer etc on dougnut

  • @purebritishpeople When this project is done there will be Flash, and the Google Market. And you can get the Google Market on Donut to get all of those apps that you're looking at. I'm thinking the stable build of Froyo on the Archos will be done in a minimum of one year, there just aren't enough developers developing it.

  • and Flash Player 10.1 is works on Froyo?

  • @broadcastub Not currently, but it should soon.

  • @cusinndzl thank u

  • can you install android 2.2 aps in it

  • @The07211999 Yes you can. Just download the APK file and install it.

  • @cusinndzl thx

  • @The07211999 No problem.

  • so if i buy a Archos 5 internet tablet and follow your tut for froyo it wil work? or do i need 2 by a special version of archors 5 IT?

  • @amazingone17 Yes, any Archos 5 IT will work with this tutorial. I'd suggest buying one of the newer Archos tablets instead since they have Froyo built in, no need to hack.

  • yes i have a archos 5 it how do i get android 2.2

    i dont get you'r video

  • @5258577 How about searching my channel for the tutorial.

  • how do you install an download androit 2.2

  • @ExicuitEntertainment Just search my channel for the video and you should find it.

  • windows xp or 7 cant be installed it would have to be compiled for the processor witch is not x86. windows CE or phone may be installed if you can match the processor type.

  • did you have a chance to post the tutorial up? what if I don't have Dev. version?

  • @treocin I have the tutorial up, just check out my channel and you should see it in the list of videos. And you need the dev version because that's how you flash the Froyo firmware.

  • Hey do you think you can install windows xp or 7 on it vesa a external optical drive?

  • @spencerjtennant I know it's possible. How the Froyo is booted is through an .img image. So all I'd need is an .img image that supports the Archos's hardware.

  • @cusinndzl will ubuntu work better and have less compatibility issues on it then windows based os, since android is linux based (but you already know that).

  • @spencerjtennant I'm not really sure about that. I guess it would since it's open source. And since it's open source you can freely work with the internal code and get the OS working with the A5. And Ubuntu with the Unity UI would be pretty nice on this thing.

  • @spencerjtennant

cant do it not an x86 processor. could try windows CE or phone 7 if its compiled for the right processor. This is why the Linux based OS's work because the source is available, free and people can compile on any device. they then put it out there for others.

  • hi, i understand archos has had a few updates in the past year, i believe the latest one is like 2.0.something but alot of people say that this device is glitchy, is this true? i mean considering that there videos are relatively old...

  • @T1AOSUPERGUY I've had no problems with any glitches or anything. The only real thing I've run across is when the video and audio gets out of sync when viewing some videos. But those are only HD ones at a very high frame rate.

  • @cusinndzl cool thanx!

  • @T1AOSUPERGUY No problem.

  • I have an archos 5 IT, and im wondering when there will be a stable release of froyo, so i can replace 1.6. cuz i dont wanna have to buy another device just for 2.2.

  • @longluvedrappers There will eventually be a stable release. Don't know when though.

  • Can you send me your menu.lst file???

  • @geekycrzy4 I don't have the device with me now. I'll post it up here as soon as I have the time to.

  • @cusinndzl yea make atutorial..and let me know when the stable version comes out

  • Great video! BTW, can you tell me how to put the default Archos OS on the boot menu? Thanks!

  • What does this help me do?????

  • @jonahprivett It just shows that Android 2.2 Froyo can be installed on this device. I have a tutorial up too for learning how to install it.

  • Comment removed

  • @geekycrzy4 There will be a tutorial up tomorrow. You can subscribe to see it faster.

  • @cusinndzl well i like figured it out but its like stuck on the OpenAOS Screen

  • @geekycrzy4 That's just a problem with the Froyo IMG file. I asked on their chat room and a guy gave me a link to the Alpha 3 and that works great. The tutorial will have links to all of the downloads and stuff. By the way thanks for subscribing.

  • CAN U GIVE DETAILS ON HOW TO INSTALL THIS.

  • @hak1313 I'll be making a tutorial and it should be up by Wednesday. Just subscribe to get notified when it's up.

  • Dude i loved the intro ! and thanks for using it was awesome! and i totally liked the froyo on it and its looks pretty fast and smooth as by watching how you were using it, and im very suprised andriod is getting better in my opinion, thanks again!

  • @permanetmarker2004 I really like the intro too. I made a bunch of different animations for different topics.

Android is really great right now. I didn't like Android very much a few years ago when it was brand new. But now I love it. Froyo on this device runs pretty smoothly, and it will only get more smooth because the developers are still working. The final release should be amazing.
