  • have u ever been bitten?

  • Have you ever been bitten??

  • Lol, at 0:22

    "AH! WTF IS THAT?!"

"Ok, dude, jokes over. Get outta my face now."

"Now your just pissing me off. -.-"

  • where can you find king cobras?

  • How does that "pinky press" work? Smashed pinkies in somekind of syringe?

  • I am glad you make these videos. Though people should be alarmed with Poisonous snakes. They are not as bad as they are made out to be. They are cute!

  • Cheers you got some beutifull spikers, and your doing a great job with em aswell. too bad theres so many people out there that cant do whats needed in situations like that, it makes you wonder why they even got it in the first place. Hard for the sellers to know if the buyer is capable of treating animals like this without references from trusty friends etc... anyways thnx for all these videos , very informative..

  • i have nothing but respect for you, and i have nerves enough to catch a venomous snake, i did as a child in southern california but you are absolutely crazy doing that for a living, the expression "if you play with fire you're going to get burnt" comes to mind but you are absolutely crazy force feeding those little snakes, so deadly with all the quick snaps and death rolls. i enjoy you're videos keep em comming, great job, i'd like to see a video of a bite aftermath if it ever happens again

  • Lol the force feeding

    is kinda funny xD

  • I agree. Your babies are bad ass.

  • VK,

do you 'mince' the feed before putting into the pinkie press or will it extrude from the whole carcass?? also is there anything you have to be especially careful with regarding technique (apart from the obvious, keeping clear of the dangerous bits).

many thanks for all the videos.

  • They go in whole

  • No wonder theyre jumping at you! I wouldnt wanna be prodded at!

Thats really intrestng though.. ive never heard of anyone whos kept poisonous snakes...

I take care of a little corn snake myself actually.

    Nice vid.

  • looks like it could be some kind of assembly line the way your doing it

  • Dude your crazy ass hell working with snakes!

  • lollll at the part when he starts with the other snake xD!

  • that thing is badass

  • They always seem less dangerous when you have em on a table, but when you have to awkwardly bend over ito deal with em... *shudder*

  • 10:19 lucky :O kids dont try that at home :)

  • where did you get that "pinky press"

  • I love watching the other snakes, especially that cute hairy viper but not mad on the cobras. Ugly little things. Are they generally more aggressive than most other venomous snakes?

  • They are Elapid, so they look like they are agressive but they are just very active compared to viperids.

  • Yea bite the stick , bite the stick

    lol

  • Bunch of king / milksnakes on your t-shirt there hehe. I though at first that the second snake in the video was a dark vipera berus haha.

  • god bless you al!

  • Could i get These Snakes Into England

    Like Imported TO England

  • To start you need a DWA permit from your local authorities.

  • wats wat u feed it??is it like meat????

  • I would have to look at the video, could be mice or mice/rat parts

  • why did I watch this I'm going to have nightmares tonight could not make it all the way through yikes!!!!!!

  • what is that metal thing you put in there mouth

  • Not sure what you're talking about.

  • thats the thing you put down the snakes mouth to forcefeed it when it just never eats

  • A pair of surgical forceps.

  • do you now a place i can buy venomous snakes please tell me i am big fan of yoursd

  • You are not old enough to buy/keep venomous.

  • holy moley that was close!

  • I must say that I really enjoy your videos and the way you handle the snakes..

That little king Cobra really stole my heart. He must be the cutest bad ass baby I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing..

  • I like your kingsnake shirt.

  • Thanks...

  • ViperKeeper, I have to say I am an avid fan of your videos and your vast collection of venemous Snakes, I even subscribed to you. However, every video I see, I can't help but notice teh state of the floor in your Vivarium room. This is of course a hazard to you and your snakes. The "Clutter" could be harbouring massive amounts of bacteria. Salmonella Etc.. I would be Extremely Gratefull if you would do somethintg about this =/, I'm sure your snakes would too. :)

    Thanks, Josh

  • viperkeeper have you ever had baby russel vipers

  • Yes, have some now that were born in April...

  • I know a zookeeper who works with spastic coastal taipans + such every day, but has no desire at all to work with our black whip snake, Theyre to crazy and fast!! We werent aiming the topic of complasantcy at the venom lab worker directly, it was more a debate we were having, which was inspired by what happened to him. (We know the guy who runs the place, and he dosnt employ idiots!) People apply for jobs there from all over the world..

  • If it can kill ya, it can kill ya..

  • I should clarify.. I meant that we are, I guess, proud of our potent vens, and that there might be a tendwancy for some going in to the feild to underestimate exotic venss.

  • Not even a whipsnake should be underestimated and I think it was unlikely the keepers at a venom lab would. Unfortunate shit happens sometimes. The A/V will neutralize the snake proteins in the venom but enyzmes are gennerally uneffected sadly.

  • Ooohhh! Thats nasty. If the Antivenine is given straight away, would the necrotic effects be reduced? I wonder if there is a tendancy among Aussie herpers, to underestimate, or become complacent about exotic snakes.I hope no one is that silly.

  • yes he is, or maybe as you put it, was working at a venom lab. It was aprox 1 metre in length. Do you have any videos of them? Also, we were wondering what properties their venom has?

  • Yes, I have some video I shot a few days ago. Their venom's systemic effects are hemolytic/hemorragic. The local effect are swelling & necrosis with the possibility of loss of the bitten part. Viperids have lots of enzymes which have a digestive effect on tissues.

  • A guy was bitten and invenomated today here in South Australia by a Mexican Cantil. Seems it was his first attempt at milking a snake, which tagged him when he tried to adjust his grip. As you say, no ven comes with training wheels. Last report was he is in a serious condition...

  • There is a big difference in how to milk a viper and how to milk a Tiger Snake. Was he a worker for a venom lab?

  • nice t shirt=)====or is it? mwuhahahaha

  • Could you encourage them to eat through using scents or something? Maybe have a live prey that they couldn't get at and then twitch the pre-deaded food?

  • Yes, I try all those tricks to get specimens to eat.

  • What was teh last snake?

    It sounded very... stuborn

  • enjoy the vids, please keep them coming! The psedechis you mentioned as being too spastic to get near for feeding or watering, how are those tasks accomplished? Thanks

  • At this size I just toss it in and shut the lid. When they are large A shift box is required.

  • By the way...your videos are awesome!

  • How many times have you been bitten? I don't mean to seem crazy, but what did it feel like? (I rather not personally experience it).

  • Take your finger and hold it in boiling water to the count of 10 then multiply the pain level by 10.

I have been envenomated once in over 30 years of doing this...by a Timber Rattlesnake in 1974.

  • So it's all of a sudden pain? I figured it would feel more like a painful prick then you can feel it going though you. Like when a bee stings you...you feel the initial prick and slowly the feeling gets worse by the second. Thanks for the description!!

  • I've heard it's similar to being smashed with a steel bar and having hydrochloric acid injected into your flesh at the same time. Certainly never want to find out.

  • You wonder where they get the experience for these comparisions. "Hey Skippy, bring me that steel bar and the beaker of acid, I want you to try something."

  • o thanks!

  • what are you force fedding them?

  • Mice...

  • Wow, that was z close one! I'm glad you and the little neonate were left unharmed. I loved watching the defense mechanisms on those guys.

  • Um "a" close one, haha.

  • What is the average number of times that you have to forcefeed a baby before it eats on its own?

  • Hard question.. I have some baby sawscales (almost yearlings) that have not yet eaten on their own but most take 3 to 6 months or less

  • that hissy one almost got a fang on you! by far one of your best videos yet!

  • I have a guy I have been working with for 2 years helping me with my Rhino, I feel comfortable with bitis notice I said "comfortable" but not careless I afford him lots of respect. bruce is working me up to elapids. Right now I have a neonate rino and a pissy coachwhip as my first attempt at dealing with elapids. REgards Matt. p.s. you have an awsome collection.

  • A pissy Coachwhip is a pretty good "simulator"

    Good luck.

    Al

  • Al you got balls of solid rock... That death rolling neonate had me sweating bullets for ya.

  • LOL.. I was sweating bullets too. Panic kills, no matter what the circumstances. I have to admit that after seeing the video that little 'switch blade' did come very close. This is the dangerous side of venomous husbantry that many people don't get to see but if your going to keep venomous at some point you're gonna have to do this stuff.

  • rrraaarrrrr!!!!

  • Thanks Great video

  • I don't know why but this is my favorite video from you AWSOME!!!

  • its prob because this is one of the more dangerous things he has done. on video at least. easy to lose grip on the little neos

  • wow al fab vid those fangs seemed to wrap around the tube are they that flexible beause they are babies cant imagine gabbys fangs doing that

  • Great video Al.

This is a great video for those who think venomous snake ownership is a novelty, and think they can just stick the snakes in cages and never have to handle it.

At some point you HAVE to be hands on with your snake to remove stuck shed, or assist feed, or whatever. Not easy! That is why I will stick with animals I feel capable of handling, and leave the rest to you. :D

  • WOW clean floor - im in shock LOL amazing!!

nah seriously i do not envy your force feeding duties - i mean did yous eer those fangs? well i guess you did you were there... but wow you could have died - that really does show true dedication

good work al and seriously im loving the sounbds on the slo-mo they are fantastic!!!

one other thing... love that milk snake tee-shirt

    Erik =]

  • Too close. Those little guys are crazy. Pinky press was interesting.

  • what is that thing ur holding called? and how does it operate? just stuff pinkies in and it squishes them into a paste or what?

  • It's called a "Pinky Press". Think of it like a Sausage maker but the snake is the "casing" the Sausage goes into when it comes out of the machine. It's a syringe which young frozen thawed pinky mice are extruded.

  • Ware do you get most of your snakes from?

  • The country ware they are found.

  • Cringewothy...

Have you tried using the pinky press with a sponge or your paintbrush technique? Holding little tiny vipers in my fingers is very high on my list of things NOT to do. I was nervous doing it with a baby copperhead...

Although I've tube fed before, I've actually never used a pinky press, so I'm not sure if it would be possible. It might be impossible to keep their necks straight enough.

  • Sure, I've tried them all. I really don't like to hold "hands" with them but this is the quickest and safest way to get them done. It can be done with babies that are not very strong, ie: squams but these strong little beasties, they will own you if I used a sponge. I do take the precaution of letting them bite a wet sponge to "dissapate" as much venom as possible.

  • could be cute to have a king cobra being friends with a corn

  • Wow! That fang got a bit close to your index finger eh? I believe 'bad ass babies' is a very appropriate title... :)

  • Amazing just how flexable those fangs are

  • Look like all the snakes were pissed to today

  • These clips like many of the clips I use are seldom used the same day they're shot. Those segments were shot all on different days for sure.

  • you should not have a brown i am in austrila and have lost of brwns and i can tell you are a noob with aussie elapids you need to sell it to some one that knows what there doing

  • I do know what I'm doing, however, you need to learn to spell.

  • LOL a noob... seriously watch the rest of Viperkeepers vids, hes fantastic at what he does, oh and he... unlike you can spell austria/australia

  • great stuff man good luck with all of them, im sure u hav loads a 'fun' wit these guys

  • first comment yay! love your snake vids viper!

    keep it up!
