Phil Petillo was a great man, a great guitar maker, and a kind soul. I remember taking my cheap acoustic to his shop when I was 8 years old, and he treated me just like any other client! I continued to use him for repairs and purchased his strings, even after moving out of state, until I was no longer able to get up that way the past 10 years.

I'm always amazed when I enter the workshop of this brilliant (but humble) Craftsman and Inventor.....the place fairly hums with Music history and there is always something cool and new to learn from Phil and David. These men are true artists as well as Patrons of the Arts and are also two of the nicest people I've ever encountered...always willing to help the local struggling musicians!
David and Phil just restored the Gibson Les Paul that I got 20 years ago. The care that they took in their work and attention to detail was remarkable. This guitar plays better than new and the fretboard feels like glass. David also showed me some of the amazing projects that they are working on now, beautiful work. It is great to see that such impeccable craftmanship is still out there. If they are not the best of the best, I would like to see who is! Thanks!
Definitely the nicest and most intelligent craftsmen I have ever had the pleasure to meet. As an artist first, and very amateur musician second it was extremely exciting to witness firsthand such excellence in artistic expression and craftsmanship.
Dave and Phil are extremely nice and most helpful. They have repaired and setup a Taylor and Martin acoustic guitar for me. They take the time to explain their craft to you as well as allowing you to tour the facility. Even though I am not a rock star, as many of their clients are, they certainly treated me as one. Thank you again!
I brought my 1969 Gibson Super 400 to Phil in 1976 to have his patented frets installed. He eset my neck and reset my tailpiece. Phil rasied the quality of the performance 400%. He is te best.
Great video! Phil and David are my "go to" guys whenever my basses need some work. Not only is the craftsmanship and pride in work first class, its always a good time just to hang around the shop and chit chat. I always leave there with more knowledge then when I went in.
Phil and Dave have made my basses sing for a long time. They are unbelievable craftsmen, they are committed to customer service and quality workmanship, and are beautiful human beings on top of everything else. What else is there to say?
Phil Petillo once took the time to make me a new nut for my guitar for a gig I had that night, while he and David were already swamped with preparing Springsteen's guitars for Bruce's Tonight Show appearance. Truly a class act and the best in the business, I haven't gone anywhere else for guitar repair in over 12 years.
Excellent coverage of a great man, video does not do justice to the painstaking expert quality of his work. Visit his web site for examples of his artistry.
