how high the note is DOES NOT MATTER, its about resonance, it breaks because the note is LOUD and matches the right frequency (which is what the straw is there to measure) to cause the glass to vibrate and break.

Crystal is especially susceptible. I had to be very careful practising at home when I was a kid because of my mother's crystal. I'll never forget when I first hit C6 and everything on the mantel began vibrating.
