Also the STR-DN1010 has 4HDMI's ( not six ) still not bad !!
along with 24P ( 24 frames per sec) film decoder / processer
over 700watt's . Bravia Sync . menu's are easy set up ( on screen menu ) Gui speaker calibration ( very nice ) also the remote has BD live button's ( Red , Green , Blue ..etc etc ... Work's great !! You can def buy a good reciever for 500$ to 750$ !!
I got the STR-DN1010 Sony Receiver 7.1 . 3D . 110watt per channel .. It was only 550$ . I could never afford 3gz for this model .. The one I got is pretty nice reserch it , has the good video's / audio decoder's etc etc . for DTS master audio & Dolby truHD .
@diablillo94 Their primary purpose is to amplify sound as route video signals to your TV from various sources. See wikipedia "receivers". It's very helpful.
Big problems Sony was supposed to send a service person but with 50 connections I did not want to return it which they offered . Sound comes and goes even on optical inputs. Video goes purple must be rebooted fairly often.
I'm not sure how the new ES stuff is, but I've used some '90es ES receivers and it was pretty decent. Not the best sound quality, but we're talking about receivers here.
watching tv and music will give you 2 channels of audio probably 99% of the time. some dvds will output for more channels but your dvd player has to have a special output for your reciever to pick it up. your better off getting a loud cheap 5.1 from wall mart and just adding more speakers to the left and right channels.
ApFaqTech puts down the video capabilities in the description.
But, what are the problems?
According to the C-Net review, the video processing is improved over the previous generation and includes 3:2 reverse pulldown, which is a must for film-based video. How did Sony screw this one up, C-Net doesn't say so how does it justify the conclusion?
In any case however, I'd never relegate video processing to any receiver. I'd use an outboard video processor instead, such as the DVDO iScan VP50.

Does the receiver changes the sound quality?
I mean i know it can decode HD Lossless audio. But will my movies sound better or will it be just about the multichannels.
I have an old Technics AV Receiver bought in like... 2002 i think.
Will the difference be obvious even for normal 5.1 for exemlpe?

You may have to bite the bullet and take advantage of the warranty by disconnecting your receiver and sending it off to be repaired.
Or, keep pushing to get a service technician over to your place.
Your system is not functioning properly because of a faulty receiver and the problem is not going to get any better by doing nothing about it.

I prefer DENON

Denon's very good, but Sony's ES line is no slouch and deserves far more respect than it gets.

I agree, I prefer 70's 80's and 90's gear more but I will have to admit the Sony ES line is very good.
