except all of these people want to force us to live by there morals. if we don't live like Christians, they won't leave us alone. if you want to be left alone, how bout leaving us alone.
If big business was left alone it would rape every part of your life it could wrap it's greedy life sucking hands around they prove it every day. If they thought they could get away with putting sewage in your cheerios and making you believe it was good for you they would do it with a smile, look at how big tobacco played the game.
I'd rather the Leave Us Alone coalition be libertarian, favoring a "leave us alone" policy on ALL fronts, so long as no one is harming someone else. THAT is what freedom is about. Both parties and both major ideologies favor freedom in only one sphere of life. They favor statism in the other. Grover Norquist may believe in economic liberty, but he's just as statist as Al Gore, just on issues like gay rights, abortion, euthanasia, drug policy, and more.
Grover Norquist is beyond any reasonable doubt horrible for our society in his position of power. His idea of "slaying the beast" wants to kill all government power so that everything becomes privatized. He wants to raise the government debt so that people lose all faith in the government. The government would lose any real power. With a completely privatized economic base here, corporations will police themselves and all small businesses and environmentally sound businesses suffer and or fail.
"EVERYTHING"? I'm pretty sure Grover Norquist doesn't wanna privatize "everything." Sure, a lot, and I favor that too, to save money and make things more efficient, but we'll all be better off. The welfare state was never necessary to fight poverty. There are alternatives, such as making college more affordable.
Whether or not you agree with this man's politics, there is much validity to his analysis of what constitutes the "conservative" base.
What I find ironic is that "conservatives" keep voting for the candidate who campaigns on an "I'll leave you alone" platform, but legislates an "I want to control every aspect of your life" or "I'll do whatever you want if you give me campaign money" agenda.
I wish frauds like Grover Norquist would leave us alone!
All he is about is for the people/government to leave corporate power alone. He thinks corporate america IS America.
He wants America to stop taxing the already low to no tax paying corporations and for them to take up the slack. He wants a powerful state to help loot other countries such as Iraq which he had a huge role in help turning over the assets of Iraq to corporations leaving Iraqi's with little to nothing.
They want to indoctrinate their kids with bullshit, prayer wasn't banned in school, mandatory/teacher led prayer was banned. A lot of the people in this coalition are truly anti-societal.
NRA people are needlessly worried, most liberals I know are pro-gun. Many are more pro-gun than the pro-gun people.
Business owners want to reap all the benefits of doing business within our society but don't want to pay back to society.
I am economically Conservative and I am not religious at all. How can Liberals be for gay marriage and be against Home schooling? How can you Liberals be for the right to abortion but against the right to own a gun? The fact is I am a social liberal and an economic conservative.
The government needs to start taking steps back on issues that intervene with the lives of the American people, promote lesser government and TRUE freedom for the American people.
Colbert is a Libertarian. He agreed with just about everything Norquist said even if he raised common concerns with his positions. Watch the video again: he signs the tax reform contract. The fact that he dislikes most Republicans does not mean he is a Liberal. He's a lot more complicated than most people know.
Oops. I wrote this comment awhile back. He made some ambiguous remarks and I'd read something somewhere that I later found to be false. Apparently he is in fact more or less a Democrat. Or a liar. :)
The other IRONIC thing is that conservatives generally don't want much regulation on business or businessmen. This of course means they only want gov't to LEAVE ALONE the bigwigs who run corporate america, not the workers, and they don't care if corporate America screws over its workers at every level, even with outsourcing.
They don't care that trade agreements like NAFTA that they claim "benefit the nation" actually only mostly benefit the upper class and were written BY corporations.
Of course, their economists and economic "experts" will tell you otherwise about trade agreements. They'll say stupid things like, "Well, it increased our net gains by 1.49 for every dollar invested outside the country." Oh, yeah, an extra 49 cents per dollar invested. Big fuckin whoop. Do I see any fo that money as increased salary in my office job when I graduate and go on to one? Of coruse not. It's all hidden "advantage" that only corporations will see. So why should I give a fuck?
They only want gov't out of their lives when it comes to CERTAIN social issues like gun control or economic issues. Otherwise, there's tons of issues where they prefer or are indifferent to gov't regulation, like gay marriage, the intelligent design in schools nonsense, abortion rights, and the right to assisted suicide for dying patients, just to name a few.
Bullshit--the religious right doesn't want to be able to raise their kids on their own, they want to control the way other people's kids are raised, and how they live their lives. I mean, come on, the major religious right goals are banning abortion, preventing homosexual marriages, and controlling education.
It should be "Leave us alone when I want to be left alone. Otherwise, force my bigotry on everyone else."
i'd like it if norquist had a retarded child.

i like to call my self a liberal libertarian.
i don't care about gay marriage or abortion; just keep my taxes down, don't take my money, and don't bother me.
simple.

If the right is all about leaving people alone, ask yourself why the right consistently supports increases in police power.
