i had that card before (w/ 6pin pcie 75 + 2x 4 pin molex 75w mod which is 150w total external input and 225w if include pcie slot itself) and it's able to clock up to 1133(core)/3660(shader)/1500(ram, 3000mhz ddr, with much higher cycle latency) with custom cooling and vcore of 1.8(pencil mod + bios flash). the performance was able compete with 8800gs and even 8800gt at that time.
@weenator Some of those cards have ddr2 memory at 400Mhz, some others have ddr3... (the lucky ones!) Unfortunately, I have the ddr2 one, but with 512Mb! =)
things are giant pieces of shit though. ive had to replace a hard drive, battery, wifi card (the dell one made my comp overheat, oddly enough, fan wouldnt spin), and if it has bios revision a12 installed, my battery wont charge. at all. "plugged in, not charging". reverting to a09 fixed it. and im actually receiving a new motherboard today because even on stock clocks my gpu exceeds 96c in games. dell sucks, and these xps's ESPECIALLY suck.
nice, except they can go alot higher :P i have the same comp, t9300, 4gb ddr2, 1920x1200, and 8600m gt. 600 core, 1520 shader, 1000 memory is the max i've been able to safely hit
lol NP.... i just switched it out with a 250GTS with 1GB of DDR3 memory.. its a sweet card.. :-P never had such good graphics.. but i do miss my 8600GT.. it kicked major ass
even with no OC I get up to 95C in cod4 online with my EVGA 8600GTS SSC. So you can go pretty high with temperature, but the GTS has a better heatsink so idk
i know, i have the DDR2, but it wont clock to as high settings as this, but i tried clocking it to 100 over the factory settings, overheated immediately, so im gonna play it safe from now :P
How did you knew the computer everheated? did you get a blue screen? did your computer auto restart?.. if you saw artifacts is a frecuency problems and not an overheating problem if ... if you are getting a temperature lower than 100°C while playing then thats fine =)
ok lol i was just in short time, and didnt have enough time to explain, i clocked it to 100+ and as soon as i did it, the screen went fuzzy, and froze my pc (so i restarted), and i did it 3 times, the best was +50Hz and i didnt knotice much of a difference, then +100Hz, and it shat itself, any suggestions?
I see, did you were monitoring the temperature of the GPU and CPU? maybe you can get an extra cooler to gain some extra MHz... and try to find in google how much is the avarage overclocking of the GDDR2 version of 8600M GT, me for example i am trapped under 900 MHz while other users can over 920MHz
oh btw, its the NX8600GT, not the m, i have it in my pc, not a laptop:P but yes i dragged them both up and monitered them with rivatuner, no overheating, because as soon as i clocked it to 100, it froze, and went fuzzy, but when i did 50, it got about 3 extra frames, barely noticable :(
which software did you use to test the fps increment?? becauses generaly when you are overclocking you GPU and don't get any fps improvement the your bottleneck is the CPU.. games like GTA4, Silen Hill Homecoming.. and so other bad ported games from consoles, need at least core 2 duo @ 2.4 Ghz to run decently and well faster is better in that cases... other games like Crysis you can see a big improvement in fps overclocking the GPU
hi, i have a problem, i change the core clock 475 to 600 and memory clock from 702 to 900 , and the games run great... but the problem is when i change to the defaults settings, dont return as before.
okay so I downloaded Riva tuner. *unsupported driver detected*. it says that "Rivatuner has not been tested with the currently installed display driver" and it recommends me to go upgrade to the newest rt version. should i be concerned or get the newest version? or can i just go ahead and use? =/
hey nice vid but i have the same as you but if i overclock to 600 an 900 i only get 70c.
i think it's because i have the bigger battery and that lifts him up so he can lose his warmt but can i go higher than or wil i ruin my graphics card??
after u set rivatuner to 600/900/700 and restart the computer the card goes back to default. and i`m not pretty sure that after u change those values and just close the program they remain. if someone else know a fix for this pls let me know.waiting for an answer
you suppose to load up rivatuner all the time if you want your overclock settings. thats just stupid, but it does still makes a difference. btw watch my videos.
Hey dude, nice vid! I use it to oc my xps 1530. I use Rivatuner aswell and i noticed before i oc'd it the core temp was sitting at 81^c.....i just oc'd it and its now sitting at 83^c!!! All im doing is writing this and listening to Stevie Wonder (Your the man Stevie lol) on windows media player! I oc'd it the other day to the exact same and it rose up to 98^c playing crysis....should i be worried lol? Can anyone tell me. I read somewhere this card can go safely above 100^c!!
i wonna ask u one question,if i installed program such as ntune,,,and overclocked my graphic card,,,if i unstalled this program,,,my graphic card will back to normal????
Hey, im getting an Acer 7730 which has 9600m GT 512Mt GDDR3. How mutch do you think i could oc it and keep the heat just fine? Ive read that its a good card even with stock speeds.
Also, I can't change the core and memory clock, when I've changed it to 600/900 and press apply everything looks normal, but when I press OK, it goes back to stock?! :S Plz help!
I have the same computer with almost the same specs, 4gb RAM, 8600m gt, 2,5 ghz and so on and when I try to start the game from start -> games -> Crysis I get a blackscreen and it takes about 5-10 minutes too start the game... =( any idea on what 2 do?? (A)
it is what it is. you overclock the componant. that means increasing the "clock frequency" of the unit. ( which increases heat output, but also the performance)
Are u sure u dont do any long-term damage to your notebook? Ill get my notebook next week, so i would like to know if everything is ok with your notebook.
When I went to change the speeds of my hardware, I noticed they had been set to 169 for the core clock, and 100 for the memory clock, the lowest possible settings for both. Is this right, or is the program not accurate in my case?
Hey, I should be getting an M1530 soon, so this video was really useful and interesting, thanks alot :) but I had a thought...
When you're measuring the temperature, that's for the core of the card, and not for the memory. Was thinking maybe the RAM chips on your card will be super hot? :S Just a thought, haha :) Thanks again for the videos :D
Great video- Iam buying a m1530 soon and i was just woundering what screen you have? -WXGA(1280x800)- WXGA+(1440x900)or WUXGA(1920x1200) Thanks grahamw280
Well i updated the Drivers to 171.xx and it still didn't work i geuss i'll have to stick with my Ntune instead of Rivatuner just heard that RT is much better but Ntune works fine :)
Thank you for posting the videos. i have dongraded my XPS M1530 from vista to XP. and would to overclock mine too. downloaded the rivatuver in ur links and when i trie dto install it it says. the nvedia programe could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your hardrive?
Yo Pixlface. I have a Dell XPS 2.4 ghz 2 gb ram and a 8600m gt. I have Riva tuner installed butit can't detect my forceware. So i'm trying to find some drivers but the only ones i can find don't install where did you get yours?
i had that card before (w/ 6pin pcie 75 + 2x 4 pin molex 75w mod which is 150w total external input and 225w if include pcie slot itself) and it's able to clock up to 1133(core)/3660(shader)/1500(ram, 3000mhz ddr, with much higher cycle latency) with custom cooling and vcore of 1.8(pencil mod + bios flash). the performance was able compete with 8800gs and even 8800gt at that time.

1. Do u really need to overclock this PC with your "stuff" in it to be able to play crysis on medium-settings?
2. Is this dangerous for the PC or the graffic-card, might the computer get overheated and dead or will the graffic-card get burned out?
3. Does overclocking make the battery worse?
4. Which Nvida-forceware do u use? Have u downloaded an update? Is it free and worth it to download forceware-updates as forexample: version 175,19??
Sry for all questions but u seem 2 know a lot!;)
Thx Man

PixlFace 3 years ago
im getting this computer in july...do you think vista would reduce the fps of games a noticable amount?
zepman13579 3 years ago
When I went to change the speeds of my hardware, I noticed they had been set to 169 for the core clock, and 100 for the memory clock, the lowest possible settings for both. Is this right, or is the program not accurate in my case?
Btw, thanks for the video!

Hey, I should be getting an M1530 soon, so this video was really useful and interesting, thanks alot :) but I had a thought...
When you're measuring the temperature, that's for the core of the card, and not for the memory. Was thinking maybe the RAM chips on your card will be super hot? :S Just a thought, haha :) Thanks again for the videos :D

i have been gaming for a long time and none of my friends an i have found out wtf FPS IS
vetle12 3 years ago
frames per second . .
Its how fast the image on ur screen refreshes itself. .
Use fraps to see what fps u have when gaming(google it)
Low fps = lag-g-g-g-g-g
PixlFace 3 years ago
okey
vetle12 3 years ago
You must have a badley equipt M1530. Those frames seem waaay to low for lowest quality settings.
Arabman666 3 years ago
might be. .
But i'll upgrade to 2,5 ghz and 4 gb ram as soon as i can. .
Just need some money first. and then it will be a beast :)
PixlFace 3 years ago
I hear that pal, you wont need to overclock once you have it set up that way :)
And if so, you'll be running crysis on very nice settings.
Good luck
Arabman666 3 years ago
also, what specs does your m1530 have?
abecker1028 3 years ago
2,0 ghz and 2 gb ram. .
PixlFace 3 years ago
can you screw up your pc doing this? im thinking about doing it with my m1530
abecker1028 3 years ago
Of course. Overclocking can be risky, and shorten the lifespan of your computer, especially if you don't get some kinda cooler.
I'd never do it to get 10 more frames per second. lol. Net to know how though.

omfg this is on a laptop!?!?!? NICE

PixlFace 3 years ago

Leonzee 3 years ago
Hey man, great information, thanks for posting this! I'm about to try this out, hopefully I can get similar results to yours!
xerohero79 3 years ago
stays under 80.
but if u have lots of other programs and ot stays on or over 80 u turn the clock down a bit.
PixlFace 3 years ago
So it is easy as that? Just flick those two sliders across? Hangon, are you running them in SLI? Looks like you have 3 sliders there.
Talbot6832 3 years ago
sli? no, there is one for the clock, one for the memory and one to adjust power(what amount of power the G-card should get.)
u also need the newest drive.
PixlFace 3 years ago
The latest are 156.69 according to the dell website. These ok?
