  • Ouch! I can't stand that popping sound coming with this. Sorry

  • Dude I love how u play, its just, when u do the riff, it makes this weird crakling noise.

  • haha great video...really easy to get and comprehensive =)...consider me subbed...btw...u kinda look like adam clayton a bit...but ironically ur teaching guitar instead of bass hahah

  • where is your accent from...

  • Great work Mojo.

  • you talk too too much

  • Thank you im a banker after getting my audio production degree years ago and i bought the guitar to start it so far i just lent it to my managed artists now i can learn lol!

  • I'm not sure that what I said is really simpler, but it seems so... Because you don't have to move your fingers so much. But tell me if your way of playing this intro is better for you ! ^^

And, again, i'm sorry if you didn't understand what I said, I'm not english, but I try to speak this language ... ^^

Anyway, thanks for uploading this lesson, it's great !!

    Bye !

  • Johnny Cash was renound for flipp'n off anyone who pissed him off, and that was on a regular basis I assume.

  • can i ask, how do you strum with you fingers as i am now wanting to thinger pick

    such a bettter sound

  • johnny cash finger ?

  • Johnny Cash was famous for utilizing that digit to express his distaste of whatever pissed him off at the moment.

  • Great Lesson. I´m wondering why is it the Johnny Cash Finger?

  • Nice !

  • Thank you very much. :D

  • quality mate

  • thanks

  • Great video and all man but I don't see where you mentioned the fact that the guitar is tuned a half step below standerd tuning...

That might be a reason why some people have been saying it doesn't sound right with the song n stuff..

  • nice axe

  • a pleasure to view you instructions. Great job for a great song. thanks.

  • thanks!

  • dude, you are cool to do this.

I love this song. I always thought it was about the ongoing war in northern ireland. I didn't know it was about a peticular war that was settled.

thanks for the lesson. even a novice like me can follow it.

run away... I can Follow.. ok that was bad :p

  • I just found you snd wow, you have a great approach to teaching. have you covered Billy Squire-lonely is the night? thank you.

  • Mojo You are a star , Manythanks

  • good job on the intro riff, although i still prefer to use a standard D chord with 4th finger on the 4th fret 3rd string, then just peel it off and the the 1st and second finger

  • we really appreciate your work man

  • Thank you so much for posting. I've wanted to learn this song for so long, and this helped me alot!

  • thanks mojo...wheres the hat??? :)

  • hey there im from australia and a m currently learning guitar thanks so much fro ur help u r an inspiration for us all to learn

  • I've been checking out your vids for about 6 weeks now, and decided to "re-begin" learning guitar after 20 years of having given up. After about a month, I am showing enough progress to give me hope that all is not as futile as I once thought. Thanks so much for making this possible with the great approach you take to lesson vids. Keep up the great work!

  • Thanks for the kind comment.. you made my day :)

  • Dude...you are playing the first note twice.Just make a D shape and add a little pinkey on the third string/fourth fret...uum...like the Edge does.*sniggers*...It just has the flow you don't have.

  • As always, thank you so much! Where did you get the dark paisley Tele? Is that a custom? It's gorgeous!!! I love Teles... they're my favorite guitar, if I was absolutely forced to choose! :-)

  • Mojo you are the MAN!

    Thanks again

    Tony

  • thanks for the quick lesson, always good to pick up a new riff for the scrap book.

  • preety good lesson except you didnt teach the whole song, you should teach the whole song including the solo.

  • From the description: "A video that focuses on teaching the intro riff to U2's hit "Bloody Sunday"."

    But thanks for your comment.

  • thank you

  • your pretty cool at teaching man cheers hombre

  • that guitar is flippen rad!!! :D

and your playing helped me! thanks! :)

  • Dude, thanks, I never knew it was so easy! Cheers.

  • dude u r cool:)

  • So helpful! Thank you! Running into a problem here (I'm a beginner) -- when lifting one of my fingers from a string after playing a note on a fret, the string sticks to my finger thus in turn an open note on that string happens when it shouldn't be there. Common problem? Cause? Cure? Thanks in advance!

  • Its common just put your palm on the string near the pick up so it stops it.

  • Is the ring finger a ring finger coz you got a ring on it!?

I dont have any rings on me fingers.

so when you say place ya ring finger??????

  • It's the finger where your wedding band would go, hence "ring finger" :)

  • mine went in my nose

  • you could just bar the D.

so all you would have to do is lift your index up, it also helps when changing from to each chord

  • that's what i do, and its a whole lot easier. i think that's how the edge plays it anyway.

  • nest lessons on the tube!! thank you ever so much!

  • Hey top lesson not been playing long can you play this using a pick as I find finger picking a little hard at the moment

  • thx man, it really helped me. U explain it good thx!

  • do you pick with your nails or your actually finger tips?

  • Both, depending on what tone I am after. If I want a snappy tone, then I use my nails. If I want a meatier tone, for lack of a better word, I use my finger tips.

  • again, totally helpful. I'm amazed at how simple that one of my favorite songs is so technicaly simple. props and RASpect from lovelyshadeofred.

  • you are sweet !

  • Hahaha the Johnny Cash finger xD !

    thank man very helpful

  • omg i love those Crook guitars so much...especially that color, nice choice man!

  • Thanks! Bill Crook builds some of the best guitars around.

  • Damn, I wish I lived next door to you. You're a great teacher, don't let any of the morons that like putting everybody down get to you.

A question that might throw your of course, could you make a video on shania twain, if not do you know anyone that could explain it as good as you guys, everyone just speaks to fast and dont explain it as good. • Feeling better? I pity you for your anger, but hey, no hard feelings. You don't like, simply don't watch. Peace.

  • To CNLFrEaK: Who are you to say that his guitar teaching is bad? I mean no one cares what you say. This guy made a good effort and I learned alot from this video. Don't critisize him because he's done a good effort and you should appreciate it.

  • I can play this song now on the scond way you discribed, im so happy! Cuz Im a huge fan of U2. I only have one problem, when I played the riff, I want to play it a again, in one row. I just cant get my fingers on the starting position again fast enough. Any tips for this? Or is it just practice?

  • Just practice, I am afraid :)

is that right or is there another way? :)

  • the pattern I use is

    32123212321232123212321232123212

  • Thank you. Do you tour?

  • Tour? Lord no. I don't think anyone would pay to see me locally, let alone around the country... but it would be fun if they did ;)

  • Glad to help :)

  • Many thanks. You have explained a lot in a short time and did it very well.

  • Thanks for the kind words! :)

  • Thanks Got to get my guitar and tune it back up and buy a new amp cord I've been wanting to play this song so badly atleast a peice ya know? :) 5 stars and favored from me.

  • Thanks for the kind words :)

  • on a point this is easier to play if you combine the first 2 positions using you're pinkly finger. I don't know if everyone can do that (I have big hands)

  • hi mojo, I learn more from you than any teacher I ever had. You are very good. Thank you so much

  • Thanks for watching! :)

  • brilliant teacher thanks!

  • Hey Mojo, you're lessons are great.. The problem I'm having and have in all songs, is I have a hard time with bar chords. Is there a way to play this without barring?

  • You can play around barre chords by changing the key...

  • Why should you play the first riff like that ? If you take a D chord and just place your pinky on the G string 4th fret you get exact the same.. Only this time. your D chord is already in place for the next line.

At least thats how i play it.

  • ...which makes perfect sense. Thanks for sharing.

  • I only started playing the guitar and i only know a few chords, Am trying to learn One and Sunday Bloody Sunday, Your videos have helped me alot thanks. Good luck with your other videos :)

  • I am so glad to help :)

  • he is right, i play it also like that and its not difficult in my opinion.

    Good singing by the way=)

  • tahnks a lot mate now i can ply it yay !!! lol

  • can you get a good sound playing this on a stratocaster?

  • I don't see why not :)

  • In fact, Edge in the War tour used his black start to play it =)

  • Sure ya can.The edge is all about effects. He has 20 guitars sitting off stage and they all sound the same when he plugs in.

  • can someone write to me how to play the real reffrein insted Bm D G ?

  • its easier to stay in D position lol,

    Index finger - 3rd string, 2nd fret

    Middle finger - 1st string 2nd fret

    Ring Finger - 2nd string 3rd fret

    Pinky finger - 3rd string 4th fret

  • easier for you, not for me... but I appreciate the contribution...lol. ;)

  • nevermined,screw it.

  • Isnt there a way to download like song tones for ur guitar?

  • Not sure what you mean by that...

  • Tabs? Yes. ultimate-guitar*com/tabs

  • im really new to this, why doesnt mine sound like urs? my sounds like crap

  • Hard to say... keep at it, and more importantly, make sure that it remains fun :)

  • One of the best at giving lessons on You Tube...Nice Job!

  • I play it using a slight variation on your pinky method, but it doesn't require using the pinky: -index finger, 6th string, 2nd fret -middle finger, 5th string, 3rd fret -ring finger, 4th string, 4th fret -1st finger bars the 6th, 5th, and 4th strings, 2nd fret -2nd finger remains on 5th string, 3rd fret -lift off ring finger (this creates the D chord shape, but quicker and by moving fewer fingers) -(lift off index finger) -middle finger remains on 5th string, 3rd fret -(lift off ring finger)
  • thank you for sharing!

  • Sorry, I think I may have gotten some of the numbers wrong / backwards. I've only been playing for 2 months! =X

  • thank you very much for this lesson :D

  • You're very welcome, Pierre!

  • Fair play to you for taking the time buddy...Keep Music Live!

  • If you play and you have fun, then you win... at least that's the way I look at it :)

  • You don't have to change your position to the D Chord. Just use your pinky on the 4th fret of third string.

  • Good point!

  • This was great! It helped me out big time.
