You don't look strange because your a pretty girl and when you are in costume you look like a very convincing man. You look like two different people.
When I was in HS,before I ever learned to ventilate,I did a very similar project for a "wizard" wig for some show i was in using white crepe hair(steamed and straightened) and a stocking cap.It turned out pretty good,although I think a bald cap would work better.You can find synthetic hair very cheap at Sally Beauty Supply or other BS's geared more towards black hair.they have both synthetic wefts and bulk hair(sold like a ponytail)for under $5.Of course short HH wefts is rarely more than $10-12
This would work great for say a halloween costume,but if you are doing an actual production of a show like phantom, I think,if you cant afford to do it right, dont do it at all. There are so many other productions that can be done wonderfully with limited budgets...There are a few companies and individuals who do rent lace front wigs for theatrical purposes at a much cheaper cost than purchasing one...
Umm,.. Tell you what, do you have a spare wig made?... cuz some how I think I'd get strange looks while parked in my Frieghtliner at the truck stop paying wig maker!
Non the less, Great info on here. Maybe I can try to make one... Just not in the truck.
As for you out of costume, Your hot! Does it matter if your in costume or not??
Actually as awesome as your costumes are, I'd say it's weirder to see you in costume; you're hot out of costume (it just looks strange seeing a girl dressed up as a male character... just can't look like a guy not mater what you do, lol :D (unless it's a young pretty boy, lol ;P--but not a strong handsome middleaged man, lol ;P)--but don't get me wrong; you're costume is awesome!!!
You could certainly play around with it that way, sure. I would suspect it wouldn't be worth it, though, considering you'll have to have extra bald cap in front of the hairline to secure it to the skin anyway. A lace front for the hairline would make it look better, but I wouldn't recommend it as it's simply not worth it if you're using a bald cap.
would this work for a alopecia wig?

@WigManPhil
This is not intended for a production of the show. This (and the makeup tutorials) are aimed at Halloween costumes.
