I knew what band, but I thought it was called "Turtle Stomp." Went through like half of the band's discography trying to find it.

  • When I was a kid, the textbook we had for English was called, for some unknown reason, "Turn To Stone," so this song ran through my head every time I picked the book up!! Good thing I loved this song!!!

  • @chewytoes911 thank you for your sacrifice

  • A good song for driving around late at night by yourself.

  • @Supercharge87 played really loud!

  • Love this song! Much better than the modern pop crap on the air!

  • Awesome still! <3

  • the ending reminds me of A Day In The Life

  • ELO's music is so melodic, and their happy pieces like this one are so uplifting!

  • This song is awesome for A wake and bake. I listened to it almost every mourning when I lived with my friend in FL. It's A guilty pleasure he had no idea I was listening to it because he was at class...good times :D

  • The city streets are empty now in Madrid, Spain. Just a part of my blue world and my daily database backup from hell!! But you must know, I'm alone, and I'm drinking a refreshing Gin-tonic made of Blue Bombay and Schweppes... Join into my refreshing "blue" world. Hahahahahaha...

  • ELO were popular when I was a little kid and for some odd reason I didn't like them then. Now I can't get enough of them.

  • @mom2jlg probably not...

  • @mom2jlg Well it serves them right!! How can you not like this song!!

  • SO FUCKING AWESOME

  • streets that hide away from here to everywhere they go

roll past my door into the day

    in my blue world

  • How cool would it be to go back to the 70's for a week? Let's say when you die God lets you revisit each decade for a week where you have all your old friends, family and things (your old bike and dog lol). To me that would be a slice of heaven. To turn on the radio and hear all these great songs, I really gotta stop dreaming lol. But, for the record I would visit 1978, what a GREAT year. What year would you visit? Rock on!

  • @Journey432 For a few years now I've come to the belief that when I die I will return to the 1970s...(my version of heaven I guess)

  • out of the blue was my first Elo album, many followd

  • I remember this group as having an odd start to many songs, such as "telephone line" and then having orchestra worked in, so many violins and all.

Queen I always think of as influenced by opera.

Both styles were ridiculed by Dire Straits in "sultans of Swing", with the line "that ain't what they call rock and roll"

This heavy influence in studio is also what(in part) led to punk rock. It was a revolution against dubbed and re-dubbed studio sound.

    Nevertheless, I loved ELO!

  • Jeff Lynne had a great voice like silk

  • lol try to dont get this song on your brain... .D

  • love this, reminds me of queen

  • @TheSeabass87 What? although both bands were greaaaaat, ELO had its own sound and it did not sound like Queen, true music lovers use their ears, LISTEN CLOSE

  • the root of innnovation God bless and thank you.

  • This song is so awe-inspiring and original! The lyrics are my life story.............I had to and have moved on;although, she is still in my mind 4 yrs later.

  • This song fits my life like a glove............she has been gone 4 yrs and moved on and i still think of her....although im over her she still lives with me..............crazy....

  • heard this on xm 70s today. i was jammin at 6:30 am on my way to work!!! -erik 9/18/70

  • this is one of the best songs in my opinion to take bus rides on cid. lol

  • This was the first album I ever bought, It was a great experience then as is now, thanks for the post.

  • Amazing song. I'm 15 and grew up hearing ELO, foreigner, led Zeppelin, toto, cars, the scorpions, you know. The good stuff. Then as I started maturing and listening to more contemporary music, I realized that they had lost the magic of the good music. The real music, that actually contained talent and not autotune. Who knows if we'll ever get that quality of music back? But we can remember

  • @726Nitro haha im 15 too and i listen to all these bands that you mentioned

  • @tipailovas Cool and yeah ELO's beast

  • @726Nitro well said. im young too (21) but i absolutely love this type of music. especially music of the seventies. there's nothing like it

  • @tierrae3810 I totally agree. Great song and artist. They were ahead of their time for sure

  • This is real music..Artists now a days need to invest some time in a history book!

  • @Jaichholz Being in music and majoring in music, I totally agree with your comment. Today it's not music it's crap and needs to head to the trash! Where did the music go? And why did it leave?

  • im 13 and love this song

  • Comment removed

  • This would make a great heavy metal cover.

  • I'm 15 and I love this song!

  • I was in my early teens when this came out. Much weed and great times were enjoyed over this music! Punk would eventually "steal me away" from ELO, but, I can look back now and realize all their worth! Thanks!

  • That bass synth, that damn bass synth. Great tune.

  • I randomly heard this song in a book store once. My reading level has drastically improved since then.

  • random info- when former MLB relief pitcher Ricky Stone would come out to pitch (at home games) he had this played as his warm up song...

  • 1st Double Album I bought... Mom let me get it From Columbia House... I think it was the Album of the Month... Special Club Pricing ;; 0

  • This song kicks ass and thanks for posting it!

  • I love ELO.

Jeff Lynne is our time's Mozart

  • ELO...Thanks for the great memories. This song takes me back to 1977 and living in Chicago.

  • i love elo!

  • 1:46 is the best part

  • ( i think I know what creepycooper was saying, some 'beer' is crap, good beer will always be appreciated, like good music ) Yep, another ELO fan : )

  • loves this song (:

  • simply great music,

  • Just having a read of some comments, the fact is that "ALL MUSIC IS GOOD", their is just some better than others a bit like beer i suppose, i am a former musician and appreciate what it takes to invent make and perform music and i admire people who can do it, however ELO are one of the very best and Jeff Lyne is a national treasure.

  • @creepycooper Im sorry, but you cannot say that all music is good, it depends on personal opinion. For example I think that rap is shit, yet ELO is great. And also what have you got against beer?

  • @mataimr hey man thank's for reply, it's like you say it's a personal opinion and my opinion is all music is good just some are better than others, and you should not say rap is shit you should say "naa its not for me" it isnt my favourite either but rappers still have to have a degree of talent to do it, the beer thing is the same i love beer i just have my favourites.

  • @mataimr You think it's crap, that dosn't mean it is lol.

  • GREAT SONG

  • In the seventies everyone had 'Out of the Blue' in their recordcollection. They we're a superband and in no way you can compare Muse to them. But i wouldn't say all muysic today is crap. That is nonsens. The dj's are crap, but there are a lot of good bands around. For instance: Kyteman.

  • I never heard of this band until my friend tipped me on to this song. Life. changed.

  • @MrJellyDonut I hope you are having fun with listening to ELO. Quite possibly one of the greatest bands to come out of England in the seventies. Every song different, and always the best rythym to dance to. I grew up with listening to ElO during school days and has brought me happiness since. Rock on.

  • @MrJellyDonut ELO is an amazing band. Don't know if you have heard of April Wine..they are Canadian. Check out crash and burn, and you could have been a lady by them, they are rockin 70's tunes!. ELO rocks!!

  • A local radio station wanted people to call in and suggest songs they wanted to hear. I suggested this and DoYa (classic rock station). 2 days later it was on and they still play it pretty often. THATS awesome.

  • ELO saved my life.

  • Me too.

  • @PX2012 THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! :)

  • @PX2012 They're quite a zap.

  • cool!!!! ELO was a good band doods...

  • Sometimes I'm stoned :) but not now

    Thanks goudvinger!

  • personally i hate modern music, beatles, elo, and so many other bands were the best ever. screw modern music

  • i dunno about that, modern "popular" music SUCKS but there are too many amazing and talented musicians in the here and now to just hate todays music scene, i believe muse to be the ELO of my (i'm 20) generation and i hope that if a younger fan saw ELO, they wouldn't dismiss it as "old crap" music is timeless Mozart made amazing music, so did Elvis, the Beatles, my grand kids will probably slate today's music. though admittedly, Bowie, elo etc inspire me to record music more than today's :)

  • No, sorry but Muse are awful.

Real music from today is Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, St. Vincent, Beach House, and Here We Go Magic.

I'm not trying to be overtly opinionated, but I've known Muse before they were famous, and they have clearly soldout. I just hate to see people settling for less just because the media won't advertise the true artists. Listen to Ready, Able by Grizzly Bear.

  • dude, cool, i thought i was the only sane 20 year old left

  • i love elo

  • Catchy Song!

  • I love this song. It sounds wonderful!

  • great song

  • why is it that every video on youtube turns into an argument about something arbitrary? watch the video and STFU

  • hahahaha well said :D

  • hehehe..so tru good one!!

  • My sentiments exactly diomedes......

  • that is why youtube is so great

  • very well put

  • @diomedes1066 You my friend... are very smart. XD

I've been thinking the same thing. EVERY damn video is an argument over

religion,Justin Bieber, or some stupid crap.

  • I don't know about stone, but ELO turned a lot of jams into gold. This one, no exception. Fantastic, thanks for posting!

  • i love elo. one of my favorite songs :)

  • You turned to stone

    Before I was gone

  • I just love ELO, cool blend of music.

  • This music rocks! I love ELO! I especially loved their music from Xanadu!

  • iainjamesO3 - You really are one huge twat!

  • erm thanks - do i get the right to know why?

I enjoy ELO's music btw - and i rate Out Of The Blue as a fantastic album - but if you've heard the stuff Jeff Lynne produced since ELO you can't deny they sound an awful lot like ELO. It's a bit like a chef saying the best way to make porridge or steak or sticky toffee pudding is to smother it in tomato sauce cos that's what worked when he ran a chip shop.

And i'm not the one hurling insults at people just for voicing their opinion.

  • I have no idea what you're talking about.

  • GOD SONG THE BEST GROUP OF THE HISTORY

  • would this have been a studio 54 dance song?

  • I love this group!!! Brings back many fond memories of that era!!!

    THANKS!!!!!

  • Awesome and thank you!!!

  • thank you, goudvinger, for all the ELO SONGS, IT IS WONDERFUL TO HEAR THEM!

  • CLASSSSSSSSIC!!!!

  • oh yeah.. I am stone.. oh no I am stoned lol brought back a lot of memories for me too

  • I love it!!

    Do you agree?!

  • a song you want to sing a long to yes it is that awesom

  • Comment removed

  • Ah this brings back good memories of the days of yesteryear. When my parents got a divorce my dad used to play ELO all the time while boozing it up. Good times and great perms! Glorious seventies!
