  • Yes. So amazing. This book rocks. When stone monkey is born from island of Aolai. On a high peak, 36 feet high 5 inches tall, and with a circumference of 24 feet. With magic fungus on it. 9 apertures projecting from the palaces, and 8 holes, one each a trigram.

Yeah thats right monkey. Thats right. Flows like melons Monkey, flows like melons.

  • @MR2cee2 oh the 2nd season? it was good but people said the monkey is better in the 1st season (with Dicky Cheung in it, in the 2nd season he's out of the project). I believe it's about another strong Monkey God-something that stirred up misunderstanding between Wu-Kong & his shifu & everybody else because he's jealous of Wu-Kong :))

No I haven't, there is a 66 version? :o when I'm looking for this in wikipedia, this one is the oldest version of Journey to the West I can found.

  • @MR2cee2 yes, 1996 version is the one with Dicky Cheung in it. It was so fun to watch.

  • @abcwarehouse123 it's true. Yet the director 张纪中 who is now remaking this TV series said that he wants to create a monkey king even more powerful than spiderman. When I hear that, I want to laugh because monkey king has already been created, and he already is much more powerful than spiderman.

  • 2:29 - 2:30 ... OMG SO EPIC! hahahaha xDDDD !

  • My Chinese teacher said that this is the most famous and BEST rendition of the Monkey King so I'm excited. ^^

  • this is my favorite monkey king, yet there alot more monkey king movie making but old version is the best #1

  • It is wonderful! Thank you for posting!!

  • all my chilđhoo,,, the best monkey king who no one can replace him

  • It was a phenomenon back there in Vietnam when this film was broadcasted on national TV. This version was the best, the remake never comes close to this version. Nowadays, they still broadcast these series on Vietnamese channels for younger generations to enjoy. But I guess they don't like the series as we did now.

  • than k u s much!!!!!!!! i used to watch this when i was a kid!!!!this also very well known in mongolia too!!!!!!!!

  • i love this in tibetan

  • Although the special effects are really bad [it's good for being produced in like the 80's] the actors, custumes, and the realistic makeup kind of make up for it, doesn't it? And also, this version beats all those new remake for sure...

Loved this Monkey King a lot, and of course this show. Everything is good except for the effects.

    Thanks for sharing

  • finally i can watch this.. i've seen this since i was a kid and i was quite oblivious on the plot lol XD

  • i remembered always gathering around with my family watching every episodes at lunch time. my brother always wanted to be that invincible monkey! lol

  • this was so freaking cool...i never missed an episode

  • @18PANA me too! i never missed an episode,, lol i even remember trying to be the monkey king,,, i cant even temeber his name anymore,,

  • @ultimofailo yeah old school martial arts with more skill than cgi

  • @18PANA wukong is just that awesome..

  • @18PANA one of many points why this show is the best!

  • is there any decent way to explain the stone thing? Not even the book explains why the stone made a monkey of anything it could've turned into.

  • @DulBeat "Far across the Eastern Sea, on the island called the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit, a magic boulder had sat on the mountain’s peak since the creation of the world. Bathed in the energies of Earth and Heaven, quickened by the light of Sun and Moon, the stone became fertile, and at last cracked open to release its young.

From this stone egg emerged a full-grown monkey."

I guess it was just destiny

  • @DulBeat

i still have the ORIGINAL story books...that came in like a set of 20???? all black n'white. ....

  • classiccccc

  • Ghana's most viewed tv series..enjoyed by both d young and d old..those were d days...awww gud ol' memories!! <3

  • @darklightthecatalyst WTF so true.

  • Escape pods? Now we're talking.

  • Can someone link me the full theme song to this? Please and thank you.

  • just for the ignorant people here, this story was written 500 years ago in China. Everything that you see in the media today that has reference to this story is all inspired by it. That includes many Japanese animes.

  • LOL I GOT THIS ON DVD. i watched the hong kong version (newer version) but still same :D

  • believe it or not but goku in dragonball is a ripoff of monkey magic or as they call him sun wukong

  • thumbs up if dragon ball brought you here

  • 0:56 is kaguya hime! LOL the piggy was in love with her. XD

  • omg i watched this when i was like idk 5 and its so awesome

  • I LOVED THIS SHIT EVER SINCE IWAS A KID!

  • hay it is son goku with the nimbus cloud and power poll

  • @64bitProductions the creator of dbz created db to be similar to this.

  • wow this is such and epic epic story, 100 chapters, so impresive.

  • this is the fucking best version of journey to the west ever

  • The theme song is the best ever.

  • HAHA. I have the tape. Good 'ole times. I use to LOVE this show.

  • It's like Tarzan! xD

  • 西游记(浙版)Journey to the West 2010 version in chinese.

  • lol

  • One thing, it's definitely NOT the best version of this story.

  • @fitzcarraldo1984

Yes it is. Name any version that's better.

  • @fitzcarraldo1984 nooo, this one is the most faithful adaption of the book.

  • @posteriorderpression1

yeah your write but this explains why goku has a tail

  • Thanks !!!!!!

  • @posteriordeoression01

actually dragonball itself was all based on this story but they changed it alot

  • @ultravideos4music

    Not really all based.

吴承恩 didn't write about Picolo and most of the other aliens lol.

  • @ultravideos4music hows that?

  • @ultravideos4music

Mmmyessss. Son Goku is modeled after Sun Wukong, in his aloofness, cloud-traveling, and Ruyi Jingu Bang.

  • Watching some of this for Chinese camp. It's bombastic.

  • The stuff made in the 80's and early 90's were quality.

  • @posteriordepression1 Actually, this was made in the late 70's

  • @Arcangelthe1

Trial ep came out in 82, filming finished in 87 and came out as a whole series.

    Check it out on wiki

  • which episode was the one when he was eating noodles???

  • the monkey look like goku from dragonball lol

  • @generko thats because dragon ball takes references from journery to the west (goku is a money, his extendible staff, the morphing horny pig, etc)

  • @generko

A few main characters from Dragon Ball are loosely based from this work.

    Son Goku is the monkey
