What do the public need to know though? There's 170 km of corridors of all national archives- it'd take a huge team of people to find the most important stuff, you're not likely to get the whole picture at £3.50 a document.
Nick Pope and others ought to make some summary vids and documentaries.
i once fixed an old van for a guy -he was ex R.A.F he used to work the radar systems and he said that on his dinner breaks he would take a file out and read it , he said they would chop his balls of if they found out - he told me about ufo's and declared they were in fact real - i believed him ,,i spent two days with the old guy and got to know him pretty well
He is correct in that a good 95% of such sightings and reports are based in misidentified aircraft or aerial phenomena.
There are a select few reports that are genuinely unexplained and these are those that have convinced myself like Mr. Pope that something strange is indeed taking place.
Where many proponents of Ufology and Mr. Pope disagree is that he refuses to jump to conclusions as to what such things are.
I've always been curious - you'd think that working at the MoD or working with UFO reports would require becoming a signatory to the Official Secrets Act...wondering how Nick Pope gets away with talking about his work, unless he's been specifically authorized to talk about his work in the Ministry of Defence?
consider this, should it come to be that UFOs have been poking around for ages now, if they were a threat...we would be dead by now...
they traverse planets, solar systems, potential galaxies and whatever else...pretty sure they have the tech to do some serious damage from above should they have the urge
so, since we are not dead yet, then I would venture to say, the threat is not above anyhow..but clearly they are not here to stop our insanity either.
There is much evidence worldwide that UFO's have been, as you put it, "poking around for ages now." Read Timothy Good's "Beyond Top Secret" book and you'll see what i mean.
I believe governments wont reveal the truth because they fear worldwide infrastructure collapse overnight if they did.
was saying clearly they dont meaning clearly they dont constitute a threat to national security.
now, us...our reaction...sure, but that will never change, however the ability for small groups to do massive damage will esculate as time goes on...better to get it out asap and let the disaster that follow be not as bad as if we waited 30 years and fringe groups can build megabombs or genetic bioweapons easily.
Thing is though, it's easy for the other parties to say anything they want to.
It's another for them to actually do what they say when in office.
Don't forget, Rendlesham forest occured when the Tories were in power, along with a lot of high profile UFO cases in the 80's and 90's, but did you hear so much as a peep out of the Tories then? Nope.
If they are really as interested in Truth, why have we not heard them pushing for disclosure in Commons debates?
By the way...£3.50 per document (and at the current economic climate), at least for British residents, is kind of going against the 'Free' in Freedom of information, isn't it?
I completely agree. They even hired an endorser (see this movie, the specialist looks like a salesman)...Well, it seems that even the National Archives discovered that UFO-related paraphernalia is good business, like thousands of the so-called "ufologists" around the world.
So, looks as though the people running through the streets in a blind panic was wrong after all eh?!
It matters not if the people are being bombed day and night (WWII) or officialdom condecends to tell us the truth regarding life elsewhere, British people are just not about to panic and flail around the place like morons, we have much too much self respect for that king of thing!
If it's bad news, we'd seek a solution, if it's good news, we'd probably invite them in for tea!
This is just the surface of the phenomena, you can be sure they are holding all the good stuff back, and that Nick Pope knows it. Anyway its a start. Peace
I personally think the government will deny UFOs until they land on the whitehouse. A very good clip of UFO sitings is called the Tether Incident. Way too overwhelming, about 30 objscts in the footage.

The really cool stuff is in no way "allowed" in the archives.

Nick does a great job at playing down the genuine encounters. As a signatory to secrecy, he seems to be happy to play dumb.

What is a crock is the MOD constantly saying UFO's constitute no threat to national security.

its a bag of shit charging £3.50 a document, so much for them releasing the files for anyone
shitmykegs 2 years ago
Hey, whats the £3.50 per document fee all about eh?
This totally goes against the 'Free' in Freedom of information.
And especially as you take our tax pounds for the up keep of your Archives in the first place!
Yet more bullshit from this Labour government, every other party states they will make this service free!

It's the same old, same old i'm afraid.
Truth comes in a poor second to money in the bank for most of these 'leaders'.
I wish it wasn't but it is.
