Absolutely beautiful. It is candy for my ears. Whoever sang this, I'm not surprised they have an album out. And Mulan is one of my favorites. Great job! :-)
@plackonteeth you must seek for either swedish or nordic dvd. On swedish ones there is version in english, swedish, icelandic and finnish, on nordic ones there are all nordic languages included
Amazing language, and a great singer! Icelandic is so beautiful. :D That says something because I usually find it hard to like other languages other than Swedish and English. ^^ Really good!
Wow I thought Sweden did the best translations but.... I'm convinced!!! The Icelandic translations is officially the best ones!!! *goes to watch more Disney in icelandic*
Elska þetta lag meira en allt <3 Enska útgáfna (English verison ) er líka góð ! alltaf gaman að syngja þetta lag <3 Elska þessa teiknimynd lika :D takk fyrir !
There are really poetic features in this song, it is even a lot better than the english version! The fact that she feels to be possesses by her own image instead of possessing her is genial, and true. It goes deeper than every version I think. Not much a song for children though... :)
you guys actually want credit?? it has been almost a 1000 years since we left Norway and came here. its kind of a like if england would try to take credit for something U.S.A. is good at only thats just like 200 years.
My goodness. That was absolutely beautiful! I would never attempt Icelandic like I am Finnish, but her voice and the way the words just rolled....breathtaking!
hey, give the irish some credit for creating the icelandic nation aswell :P we also have some new celtic names, words and place-names in our language now because of the irish slaves
@SMGJohn I haven't thought about it before, but now that you mentioned it, Norwegian does sound like a mixture of Swedish and Danish (no offense intended).
Icelandic is, how should I put it, one of the few "old norse" languages that has remained almost the same as back in those old days, if you know what I mean.
hahaha its only crasy because you guys dont understand it im from iceland and i can understand your language and i dont think its crasy well its harder to understand islandic lol
oh no dont get me wrong, I think that language is crazy, but in a positive way. I was even thinking about studying it, its just so interesting, but then decided for finnish
same here but i can read it but i cant write it i've only lived in Iceland for 1 year the next 15 year i staid in Denmark but i still speak it becouse of my parents
Icelandic is the main language, many people speak english but everyone speak together in icelandic and book newspapers and everything is in icelandic exept things for the tourists
@ValentineLove60 ..we speak Icelandic ofcourse! It's our motherlanguage, why would we speak english? We even try to eliminate english words from our language, we have our own words for tv, radio and so on..
I think it's the case system that's so difficult for other people to grasp if they've never dealt with one. I'm learning Old English and hope Icelandic will be easier to learn as a result of it. :)
Im norwegian, and I had an islandic best friend when I was younger, and I would stay at her home all day, where they only spoke islandic to each other.. And after a year I understood it all.. now I have forgotten it.. But im thinking about moving there for a year and learning it properly.. i love the language!! just wanted to let somebody know :/
This version is lovely.. Hate the norwegian one btw..
When she sings "Blátæra, bjarta lind" I get shivers and "Aldrei mun þar nokkur þó inn í sál mér sjá" is the most beautiful sentence I've ever heard in this song! :O I never thought another version could beat "Spegel ber dig visa nu, visa vem jag är"(Swedish), but this version does it. :) BEAUTIFUL VERSION! <3
are ou kidding me?the singer's voice sounds perfect!of course it suits mulan and it suits ariel also but i believe this voice suits best to pocahontas!anyway BEAUTIFUL VERSION!
Thanks for posting this, along with some Icelandic vocab. This will help me because two of my friends have challenged me to start studying Icelandic this summer. I've started already. =)
Bellissima!!! Una delle migliori versioni che abbia mai sentito!!! La voce della cantante è spettacolare, diversisissima dalle solite, e per questo mi piace moltissimo!!
XD From what I know in Spanish I can make out some of that (Italian) >>; It's like "Beautiful! A good very good version with lots of feeling. The singer's voice is spectacular, very very very very (diverse?) blah blah" Yeah. Pretty positive. lol
Quite nice work from sorikku :) I'd translate it this way, though:
"Absolutely beautiful!!! One of the best versions ever heard!!! The singer's voice isspectacular, totally different from the ones we're used to (lit. "from the usual ones"), and because of this I like it very much!!"

@SMGJohn It really doesn't, cuz "Nynorsk" is simply a written language and isn't spoken.

@OlenAinaSinun No, your right. Sounds like Norwegian on steroids...
Icelandic is old Norse in my opinion. Icelandic is the closest to real "Norwegian" we ever get...
Norwegian now is just remains of what you get when you mix Danish and Swedish into old Norse
