  • Haha u change ur appearance xDD . . Sukiyaki looks delicious i wanna eat it ahahaha xD

  • Does the egg have flavor ????

  • I've always wanted to try sukiyaki, I had no idea that it called for sugar. Is it sweet then?

  • see Kyu Sakamoto, on youtube, he originally did Sukiyaki song a long time ago.

  • None of those ingredients are available where I live :(

  • Yummy yummy :D

  • I loove sukiyaki :D but I used udon rather than Shirataki o.o Is it still considered as sukiyaki?

  • I love that song! And runny you're hilarious, I have no idea why it's called sukiyaki either.

  • sukiyaki sukiyaki mmm <3

  • i made this tonight..it was soooooooo tasty. nom nom nom.. thx!!! ^__^

  • what can i use instead of the sake? :(

I have serious allergies to any form of alcohols :(

  • @nocternum77 The alcohol won't stay in. It evaporates from the boiling process. It does leave the flavor behind. So you should be fine. However, if you are worried about it you could use white rice vinegar as a substitute I would think.

  • flawless victory...

  • Runny san! it's "raw" eggs ですよ, not "row" eggs :-)

    私すき焼きは本当に大好きです。

    ありがとうございます!

  • Ok , Go Ahead And Just Eat It In My Face ! -__-

  • I might pass on the egg part. Great look lol. Thumbs up

  • Whers the taste button?

  • I had sukiyaki the other day.(:

  • THAT LOOKS SO FRICKIN' GOOD MY GOD!

  • i love it!!! i missed to eat sukiyaki!! is shabu shabu same with sukiyaki? i also love yakiniku!!!

  • @jade221973 the same ingredients yes but abserluterly not the same sauces

  • good work

  • the green onion is mine that and tofu

  • That looks delicious! ^_^

  • what is that yellow this isit egg or what

  • @houndoknight Yes, it's a raw egg.

  • I heard the only reason they changed the name of the song is because "Ue O Muite Aruko" was to hard for Americans to say and remember so they changed the name to a more familiar word that is directly related to Japan and people wont have trouble saying. Not sure if thats true though.

  • hey runny! i dont like green onion ): is it okay to omit it?

  • it make me hungry.. ~____~

  • I LOVE THAT SONG. Ue wo muite arukou! ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER! I also don't know why they covered it as "Sukiyaki".. (.____.)

  • @MySanoHan Like.. the translations.. the lyrics aren't even really the same...

  • hello, im wondering if i don't find those ingredients, i can just use westernized ones?

  • In portuguese we have a version of that same music. The part u just sung goes like:

    "Olhando para o céu

    Eu sigo a caminhar

    Onde estará o meu amor,

    Em que estrela está?

    Que eu amei

    Que eu perdi

E que um dia hei de encontrar"

  • taste good.. but i don't think i could find those ingredients here in our country.... tsk2 too bad for me owwww!!!!!!! hey runny how it's feel like to be in japan. cause i love japan especially the foods.....yumm...my!!!!!

  • Just notice that's it's exactly one year since this video's posted, and i don't know why the song's name is sukiyaki either. Love your videos~

  • Can i ask what the heck is a mirin? and where can i find it?

  • @AznDarknessMs it's sweet cooking rice wine. It's in many japanese dishes. You can find in any asian market. I think i also saw it in the asian food section of Vons.

  • @edbiology hmm ok :3

  • Drooooooooling...

  • Ue o Muite Arukō was renamed "Sukiyaki" by a record label because the original title was deemed too difficult for westerners to pronounce or remember. "Sukiyaki" became a big hit here in America when it was released in 1963. What you are singing was originally a cover of Sukiyaki by A Taste Of Honey in 1981. Same melody, different lyrics, and rather depressing I think. 4 PM covered that version in 1995. My favorite is still the original, even though I don't know what he's saying.

  • yummmmm<3

  • There is a japanese song called "Sukiyaki" by Morning Musume ^^

  • It looks good with Rice ._. >=O NEW SUKIYAKI MAKING POWERS~!! GO!!!

    ....

Gloomyichi has been hospitalized due to food poisoning..

  • there's a song in Spanish by Selena called Sukiyaki too lol

  • that boiling sound. omg. sounds so good.

  • i like ur glasses

  • SUKIYAKI is TOKYO custom is

    WARISITA use.

OSAKA custom is suger and soy source use.

  • The song is called Sukiyaki because they took the music from the original song by Kyu Sakamoto (although the lyrics are completely different).

  • i love that song, but i didn't know its name. thanks

  • Runny you need to grow some self confidence lol

Stop saying CWD is better than you cause it's just different styles!

There is no comparison and I enjoy both channels very much!

    Saludos desde Venezuela.

  • Morning Musume has a song called Sukiyaki too x]

  • i think he quite sings good....

  • You had me until the raw beaten egg. I just cant stand the taste of raw egg yolk

  • can u make traditional Japanese ramen??

  • @TheKimzon he already made it before

  • hey runny! in here (indonesia) we dont have shirataki then we use noodle made from rice name bee hoon

  • 今日の晩ご飯はすき焼きて、RUNNYさんのVEDIOを見た後作りました!とてもとても美味しいでした!ありがとう!

  • your comment about the sukiyaki being name of a song is funny, and you have a good voice and we chinese also dip cooked meat and vegetable from hotpot in raw egg too ~ good job!

  • can we use shitaka mushroom?

  • Omg! Runny you have such a nice singing voice

  • what is with the adds ?

  • ang srap :(((

  • A Shirataki has the effect of fixing a meat.

    I have understood.

But, if so, why does Sukiyaki cook a meat and a Shirataki in a same pot?

Additionally, you Japanese simmer a meat and a Shirataki together at the dish of Oden, don't you?

    -

    白滝は肉を硬くする効果が あるのですね。

    それは理解しました。

    しかし、それなら、なぜ すき焼きは同じ なべで肉と白滝を調理しますか?

    おでんも肉と白滝を一緒に煮込んでいますよね?

  • I found Sukiyaki bcz of Rin okumura

  • that is a big green onion!

  • so I think it's good but too much sugar

  • wait if you eat raw egg wont you get maggots in your stomach .__.

  • how about making yosenabe, fish stew! I love that too! thanks for the educational presentation!

  • 4:46 LOL!

  • I drink two raw eggs everyday for protein. It's not even a big deal.

  • @TheDearBrain oh wow i thought I was the only one who does that sometimes

  • @TheDearBrain sounds like someone is in danger of getting the shits from salmonella :P

  • @TheDearBrain

    what a badass!

  • @TheDearBrain Woah guys, looks like we're dealing with a badass over here :0 lol jk thats boss

  • @TheDearBrain why not just cook them

  • @IAmSuchANerdLol You lose the nutrients if you cook it

  • thats so awesome.... i wish i could cook the things that he put on here but its so hard to find the stuff and grr.....sad panda

  • i cannot get used to the how chinos slurp everything they eat.

I like raw eggs.because the affinity of sukiyaki and a raw egg is good.

  • we asians eat raw eggs and even drink raw eggs . true to what runny said ... its just culture ...

  • Honey don't say that cwd is way better than yours, i love both channels, both are great =)

cwd is more "professional looking" and you feel more friendly and funny, but you are not worse than cwd at all =)

  • He actually sings pretty good

  • What does raw eggs taste like? I'm really curious but I'm from America, and people have been saying raw eggs in japan are healthier, so I don't want to get sick by eating a bad egg D:

  • This looks delicious. Raw eggs and mushrooms sound kinda gross, but I'll try anything once.

    Also you sing very nicely.

  • Comment removed

  • if you want the same flavor but none of the raw egg, separate the yolk from the white and temper the yolk with a bit of the broth from the sukiyaki, this will cook the yolk slightly so you can still get the flavor and none of the salmonella

  • did U jus make a rendition of the Trish Thuy Trang song Sukiyaki?!!! (:-O) LMFAO this guy is 22222222 funny runny food looks delish tho keep up the great work runny runny

  • I like your pots with the handle that comes off. Is there a brand to look for? I'm wondering where I could get those. Thanks. :)

  • i guess eating a raw egg is no big of a deal.. here in the philippines we eat semi developed (or you can say aborted) duck egg (called balut)... and I find it oishi! haha

  • @bryronify yey balot , respect every1s culture guys! but mind you wherever research conducted, japan is in top 1 of gastric cancer epidemiology, because theyre fond of eating processed foods, but i want to defend this handsome man .. because his so cute and looks like preparing not processed food

  • @bryronify oh, your philippines, i'm from malaysia!!!!!!!!!!

  • u good at singing dued

  • RunnyRunny, would you please teach us how to make vegetarian dishes?

  • Oh my god, I don't think I can eat raw egg like that!

  • That is such a huge green onion, are you sure is not leek?

  • that is a cousin of leek, leeks have far less white part.

  • Can you use regular firm tofu?

  • @mcharvez You can, it won't make much difference, although you can make your own yaki dofu by grilling them yourself in a saucepan/griddle.

  • sukiyaki is my favorite song!

  • しらたきが肉を固くする事を知っているあたり、通ですな

  • what kind of tofu did you use for this recipes ?? Soft tofu medium tofu?? Seems have some seasoning on top?

  • i love the cooking part of your video, but my favorite would have to be when you eat what you cook in the end! looks so appetizing :L

  • It's amazing to me how many people in the US are afraid to eat raw egg, but have no problem licking the spoon of cake batter, or steal small bits of cookie dough when making cookies, then think nothing of it... But it has raw egg in it. XD It's a weird world we live in. Most people over here wouldn't even consider eating any kind of bug. (I think that's going to start changing semi soon though, by that I mean the next 50 years or so XD)

  • hi runny, if I can't get mirin and sake, what substitute ingredient I can use to make the sukiyaki sauce?

  • この前ちゃんこ鍋で使った材料の残りを使いました。わりしたもうまく出来ました。主人(アメリカ人)も溶きタマゴですき焼きエンジョイしてますよ。

  • u make me so hungry >< But the sun has just risen, i stayed up all night and cant wake my parents .... XDD

  • 具だくさん!私はすき焼きは卵を鍋に入れて半熟にする食べ方が好きです(*>ω<*)

  • "関東風"すき焼きは、焼いてないのに"焼き"とつくのは"看板に偽りあり"ではないかと思います。

  • I imagine the eggs elsewhere in the world are BETTER than here in the US. Since we ruin all produce we have with pesticides, hormones and cloning goats. LOL

  • Hey for all those who need help getting the ingredients, there's an online store called mitsuawa and they sell and ship to everywhere, and at good prices I guess..I say I guess cause I have no idea how much they cost in japan XD thanks runnyrunny!!!!I made it and it was delicious!!!

  • do you eat all the food you make? cuz dats alot lol

  • how does raw egg taste?

  • if you a healthy individual, eating raw eggs shouldn't be a problem.

  • dear, runnyrunny99, your dish looks amazing, what vegetable can i replace it instead of shungiku. thank you....

  • YOU ARE SO FREAKING CUTE!!!!!!....and you can sing really well...like you have a good voice....but anyway i have been wanting to make sukiyaki for a while now but i have no idea where to get the ingrediants from...i don't beleive there is an asain mart near me and i have a LOONNNGGG list of japanese dishes i want to make,,,,sigh....-_-*...HELP

  • YOU ARE SO ADORIBLE!!!!!....and you cal sing really well....i've been wanting to make sukiyaki for a looonng time now but i have NO FREAKING idea where to get the ingrediants......do have any advice?

  • Hi Runnyrunny :)

I am allergic to mushrooms :( What can i substitute?

Is this dish similar to nabe hotpot in it's universal-ness?

  • Hi Runny! I made this last night, and managed to buy all the ingredients from the Chinese supermarket near where I live (Leeds, England). The result was excellent - it looked just like yours and tasted excellent.

Your videos are very clear and easy to follow, and I think you are very funny. You should change your name to FunnyFunny!

You are, Sir, a gentleman and a scholar!

  • Sukiyaki is excellent with raw egg, I recommend people try it. Live a little!

it seems like a sad love song. Maybe its like Suki (like/love) yaki (grilled/burning)?

    Like burning love?

    That's my guess

  • I could find my usual sukiyaki sauce at Mitsuwa grocery, so I used this video to learn how to make the sauce from scratch. Very easy, and much more delicious than the store bought. I tried to buy lard but nobody around here sold it, so I used some crisco instead - probably not as good as real lard. Thanks for the video!

  • 3:04 best moment that makes me hungry seriously

  • I like raw eggs and I dont see anzthing wrong with it.It all boils down to keeping an open mind. If a person wants to eat only food his mother cooked (like macaroni with cheese and similar), he is at the wrong address and shouldnt be watching runnys cooking channel. :)

  • i dont know why but i looove your accent lol awwwh i wish my mommy would make me japanese food it looks delicious! :3

  • the food looks awesome!! and you're great in singing.. ^^

  • Supposedly, the reason 上を向いて歩こう was called Sukiyaki in English was because it was an easy to remember word. Instead of calling it "Ue o muite arukō" or even "Let's walk looking up", I think they figured people would call it "That Japanese song" anyway, so they chose sukiyaki.

  • raw eggs are amazing i had them in a golden bowl resteraunt for the first time 2 years ago and now ium addicted lolz

  • Comment removed

  • ah.. i think i saw in iron chef america.. japanese chef knows that american people might not be used to eating raw egg.. so he replaced it with lightly poached egg instead..

  • @sirpecky thats morimoto for ya~ <3 gotta love that man. haha although im pretty sure he wanted to tell them to suck it up and eat the darn raw yolk

  • omg I love this!!! I might have to order sometime :D

  • sukiyaki sauce + beef liver is actually pretty good.

  • that song was remade into a r and b song

  • なんか食い方が俺に似てきてへん?w

  • @Daichen

    そんな下品じゃない。ブヒッ

  • wow, these videos look sooooo good. keep up the good work runny, cant wait to make one of your many dishes

  • instead of raw egg can be soy sauce?

  • OHHH MY GOD !!!! This is very good !!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite Japanese dish !!!!! PLS RUNNY do something similar PLS

  • I am Italian, I eat raw eggs too !!! But mostly I ADORE Japan and Japanese food !!!

  • Awesome, and it looks good.

  • Runny Runny~ I really like your cooking ^_^ videos better~because its more realistic compare to some other cooking videos where everything is measured concisely and the ingredients are perfectly cut..soaked blah blah like all those. I think cooking does not have to be perfect just go with what you can do. I love ur recipes I will try them out soon ^_^.

  • YOU. ARE. SO. FUNNEEEE!!!! :)

wonder if they have these kinds of mushrooms anywhere by us, here in Israel... (I will be scrapping the lard for obvious reasons but will definitely try this). ;)

  • I love to eat kinoko!

  • That looks good! But there's one thing I always wondered about...

In North America, people usually don't eat raw eggs anymore because they''re afraid of Salmonella poisoning but Japanese people eat raw eggs all the time. Whenever I see videos like this, I always wonder whether or not it's a good idea for me to try a raw egg. lol
