I bought both the Boomer (myself) and the PBSF (my partner). Yes, the Boomer seems brighter with a wider spread but both do the job. Where they differ is how they mount. With my partner's bike, there is very little seat post available to mount a Boomer. You can also tilt the PBSF up and down. But where the PBSF falls down is the quality of the bracket - it's cheap and flimsy. I just hope it doesn't break! Really disappointing because I expected better.

It is definately 0.5 watt. A guy from Knog (Tim Besley) kindly confirmed that. I am sure it is a great light but I am looking for a little more power for the country roads that I ride on.

According to the Knog page, both the AAA light and the USB chargable light are both 15 lumens.

It seems that there are two Knog Boomers, one with a USB-rechargable battery the other AAA's and the former puts out 50 lumnens the latter 30. Could be that the former is 1watt, the latter 1/2 watt? I want to use standard batteries so I can carry spares. If this AAA light is 1/2 watt I might as well get another Smart Lunar R2 (good lights).

I had a Blackburn but it broke off like fruity loops. I have a Smart Lunar R2 (two half watt LEDs) but my wife says I am not too visible on country roads. I wanted the Smart Lunar R1 for its 1Watt LED, but it is difficult to get where I am (chainreaction is out of stock, it is pricey in Japan). I can get a Knog Boomer and it claims to be 1 Watt. What to do.

just so everyone knows, i had just gotten this thing and i didn't know- it's actually a half watt led.

the difference is noticeable, but not very. now that they have usb rechargeable versions, i'm going to see if i can't give these away.

How it has handle bumps and battery life? Both of my blackburn's (3.0; 4.0) broke it's clip from paving stone after a year of use (have rode on it several times in this year and in less than a week both lights broke) so anyone reading don't buy those. That makes me think a silicone rubber 1 watt light would fit my need perfectly.

Can the Boomer be mounted "upside" down from the configuration you have demonstrated?

... I have a small seat bag that obscures the top part of the seatpost, but not the bottom. And not a lot of seatpost length is exposed. Would this put the unit at the "wrong" angle, or would there be no difference? Thanks!

@4cmd3 it tilts the beam down a fair amount when it's upside down. i wouldn't use it other than how i have it pictured in my other video.

And if you're wondering... all things considered I'd say yes- THE BOOMER IS BRIGHTER than the PBSF.

in the comparison the knog is on included noname batteries and has been run for about an hour constant. the pbsf is on FRESH BATTERIES until the end of the video where you can see it at maybe half battery power.
