  • i like how the way you play, you can check mine if you like :) hope you will like it :)

  • Challenging piece, whew!

  • nice playing! one of the best interpretations on Youtube! keep it up man good stuff~

  • He is secretly a starcraft gamer double for for hire in Korea

  • @vic028 Fang is not a Korean name

  • u r so good

  • Wow, all this talk of "dynamics!" I like your version and your dynamics - it doesn't sound "mechanical" AT ALL. 5-stars! :-)

  • No one can play ragtime like chocotiger.

  • i totally agree

  • ragtime doesn't need dynamics, but adding some in moderation can make a piece much more interesting. and tempo depends on the person's interpretation of the piece. if it's an energetic piece, play it a little faster. if it's a somewhat sad piece, play it a little slower.

  • weel done

  • This is by far the best perfomance of this piece I've seen on youtube. There are a handful of others, but they take certain liberties that I'm not fond of. To each their own, but I like fidelity of text and this is spot on. Well done.

  • sorry guys but in ragtime there's no dynamics or its not ragtime... musical knowledge dear... i've been playing for years with great musicians and never heard that in ragtime there should b dynamics... i think that the pianist here plays well and its up to each one to choose the tempo... as for me i play it more jazzy for fun...

  • Really?

Why does my Joplin book show dynamic changes in Maple Leaf, Magnetic, and Pinapple rags then?

Your knowledge is rubbish, ragtime played in a single dynamic like this performance is just plain boring and does nothing other then induce sleep in the audience.

  • My Joplin book also has dynamics. Methinks the air be thick with bullshit.

  • Maybe it'll put professional pianists to sleep but not an ordinary person. An ordinary person would eat this up. I do agree though, dynamics give songs a whole new dimension.

  • @bhavvv its absolutely wrong what you said... the guy works it as he feels... i think that everyone is free to play whatever piece as he wants and no need to criticize like you do... i do agree that dynamics embellish pieces... ragtime is not classical music and music is free... sorry but my knowledge is far from being rubbish but i think that it needs not to say that the guy don't play well he just need encouragement to move on and that's all...

  • i agree with what u say,

take the dynamic markings with a grain of salt and dont follow them religiously, they are just rough guidelines to make the tune sound how joplin wanted it to be. Playing it perfectly all the time sounds robot like and is not how ragtime was meant to sound...

  • Did anyone take into account that the great Joplin, having died almost 100 years ago, isnt responsible for the dynamic marking in your 1990's era music book?

  • You are very wrong, where's your music degree to prove anything? Dynamics are for people who have more to offer than beat.

  • guys stfu and listen, u pricks will never b able to play like this guy.

  • yeah...ur tempo is AMAZING, but as i was listening to ur playing, i gor really bored...

the way i play this song is with lots of accents, to accent the accented beat even more and dynamic seems like something you don't have at all in your music.

the WHOLE entire piece was ONE dynammic!

  • Ragtime. Love it!

  • No, chocotiger is definitely playing a variation. Ragtime is supposed to be played like this.

  • google is your friend! it's public domain. try query "joplin elite syncopation pdf" and it showed up on the first link.

  • Awesome! I'm trying to learn this as my first tune... I know, quite ambitious but i got no hurries. And this is a great material for learning. One question though.. at the bottom right of the first page, the four C's seems to be played equal length while it was denoted different?

  • where did you find the score(notes)?

  • I didn't understand fully your question, but i think the answer is that instead of holding it longer, it's supposed to play repeatitivly maybe for a "ragtime" type of music

  • AWesome

can you play the cascades? thats another joplin classic

  • thanks. Yes, I've played it a long time ago. Maybe I will add it on youtube one day.

  • Superb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ur sooooooo good. im working on a song by joplin 2 but my camera's busted and im saving to buy a new one. Keep working at it!

  • Nicely done. You play really well.

  • Joplin would be proud. 5/5. Simply brilliant. Never heard music quite like it to be honest! Brilliant. Speechless!

  • Lol, i'm looking for this too, almost ready to film my second part, looking at this for my third :P

But i think this is the best one i've seen yet

  • Nicely Played, But Can You Play His "Harmony Club Waltz?" Its About 7 Minutes Long, But Only 4 Pages Long. And A Really Nice Waltz.

  • Can you play complete "entertainer"? I played in local concert many years back ..not much time to play after start working. Really enjoy your playing, hope you are my neighbor:)

  • Yes, I've posted the complete entertainer, its on my youtube page. Please feel free to watch and comment if you like.

  • a fantastic interpretation of a Joplin Classic. Your tempo was perfect. This is one of the first Joplin rags that states "not fast". when i play it in the B section 1st ending i play the 4 C's the octive up before repeating and play the bass in octives - pretty effective. also in the C section repeat i play the bass in octives too. really nice job!

  • Perfect speed cheers

  • Wow yur gurd btw are you singl ^_^

  • Muy bien. Muy correcta en los tiempos.. y quiza eso le juega un poco en contra, estaría bueno que le ponga mas matices.

  • great performance! would u mind doing a performance of solace or the cascades by joplin? in addition, to elite syncopations, these are my favorite joplin songs.

  • I will do it when I have time. Thanks for watching

  • from the side this guy looks like a skinny version of dwane the rock jounson

  • What, you didn't know the Rock was a ragtime pianist when he was younger?! >.>

  • Mate that was gooooooood

  • Joplin himself would be proud!!!! Thanks:)

  • man you're good , i play it on guitar

  • oh man ! i love scott joplin's songs myself and i haven't played this song yet. will go and try it out !

  • Well done! The rythm was very steady until the beginning of the last part which is rushed. It's well in style but not very personal. In a public performance you would need to look less laborously concentraded. This music is "fun" and not "science".

  • I was convinced I prefered it faster than that until I heard your version. Excellent and well controlled performance - strain 4 is particularly difficult in terms of what's going on rhythically in both the left and right hands than his other rags don't you think? A very challenging rag!

  • i am attempting to learn this at the moment,

    u are an amazing player!!!!!!

  • Just great! And your accuracy is phenomenal. Nice job.

  • i luv it when u play joplin's ragtime songs!

  • thanks so much my friend! I will add some more Joplin rags when I have time!

  • This is ragtime piano to perfection. Perfect timing and not played too fast. Wow, so good!

  • Thanks very much for your good comment!
