  • hihi, mart smeets honderd jaar geleden...

  • I saw the race live on television. I was so proud to sea a fellow "Tukker"win. She ran an excellent clean race. (Tukker is a Dutch regional name for people from Twente)

  • Thank god for Ellen - a clean athlete who won ! A very fast time too when you look back through the records - possibly one of the fastest ever 800m for women (without drugs).

  • Good for Ellen stealing the gold from that bitch drug cheat Nuritdinova. I was cheering for Ana and Maria but Ellen beat them both fair and square and she was clean. Nuritdinova was never clean and got busted the very next year. I was almost sick to my stomach that it looked like she would win and I am so thrilled Ellen denied that drug cheat bitch the gold. Did you see Lilia's face on the podium with the silver, she looked like she had been force fed a skunk. Even with drugs no gold.

  • Whatever, she was caught a year later failing a drug test just after the World Championships and never returned. So I guess she was using them in 93 when she was past her prime and slowing down, yet didnt in 91 and 92 when she won those big medals. Please.

  • I don`t understand a word of dutch but I think that Ellen is telling us that she ran the shortest way round . The convention for 800m runners is for the leaders to move our to lanes 2 and 3 to force pursuers to the outside , but Ellen trumped this thinking by cunningly sticking to the inside .

  • Yeah she ran a great tactical and extremely clever race. She is also lucky though that Nurutdinova moved the outside, otherwise I dont think she could have passed her since going outside in the middle of the homestretch would have been too much.

  • she was telling what kind of problems she had during the race, especialy at the first 200m.

she knew that she was going to win with 150m to go because she feld so strong at that point..

and she feld really weird to stand at the exact same point as she stould 15 years ago..

i am dutch so i can understand it ;-)

    greetz

  • i am so happy that i finally get to see ellen van langen 800 victory..i am not dutch but the joy i feel is not less than a dutch :)

  • haha, she also says (around 6.10 when she's pointing at some pictures) the people of that stadium accidentally placed a picture of somebody else in a orange suit (who didn't make it through the series) instead of her xD

  • Is this profile/interview with her from this year 2007, or what year was it is not?

  • I remember that race well. A true classic. A great victory for the Dutch runner.
