  • The democratic party has a majority of seats in both houses,,ask yourself why?

Because a majority of the electorate voted for them based on progressive ideas including healthcare ,including a public option, this was a cornerstone of the obama campaign and was no secret,,,democrats had and have a popular mandate

It is how they represent the majority who sent them to washington

  • Work for what you want! All you lazy people that want everything for nothing need to get up off you a** and get a job...

  • PUBLIC OPTION !is the best but if you dont like it just buy something else.. there will always be private companys to go to...this is only for the uninsured and those who want it...I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE THINK THIS WILL LIMIT CHOICE? RIGHT NOW 47 MILLION PEOPLE HAVE NO CHOICE THEY HAVE NO HEALTHCARE AND YOU ARE PAYING THEIR WAY ALREADY!! AT LEAST WITH PUBLIC OPTION WE CAN PREVENT THESE PEOPLE FROM ENDING UP IN E.R. ..SUPPORT THE PUBLIC OPTION!!EITHER WAY WE WILL PAY WHY NOT GET BEST DEAL

  • Dr. Anne Doig, the incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association, said her countrys health care system is sick and imploding, the Canadian Press reported.Dr. Anne Doig, the incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association, said her countrys health care system is sick and imploding, the Canadian Press reported......still sound good?

  • Im sure they would be glad to have single payer healthcare... it is the best and most obvious solution. The problem is it would never pass.

  • I SUPPORT SINGLE PAYER

  • how about something that works?

  • I want a single payer health plan, but they arent listening, drastic measures need to be taken. If this was about the quality of the health care system then single plan would have been installed long ago. This is about the fed getting even more power. This is not America anymore.

  • Isn't it amazing that opponents to a public plan worry about insurance companies competing? Most people already know that there is no need for an insurance middle-man. They add nothing, they take plenty and get between me and my doctor. Are the opponents out there saying that I can keep my doctor if my employer changes insurance companies? Maybe. Frankly if I'm sick or injured I won't care. Have Americans become a country of "Every man, woman and child for themselves?" I hope not. M

  • Call your Senators and tell them you want Single Payer health care for all Americans.

  • I would like to see a single payer health care for all.

  • Single Payer!

  • sour; Single payer, I am willing to bet the single payor that you expect, is the government. Where do you or your liberal friends think the gov. is going to get the money, TAXES, and I'll bet you, and as we have seen, most of the democrats in the Obama admin. do not pay. Its the same people, taking but never giving.

  • My taxes are already paying my neighbors mortgage. I'll risk tax evasion charges before I buy his health insurance too.

  • I believe the stats actually say that we are paying $1,000 more a year than you would be by covering them.

  • How about obeying the Constitution and keeping the federal government out of private matters?

  • How is 50million people without coverage, dying right now, not a public issue?

  • single-payer

  • Force insurance companies to accept anyone that applies, but let them exclude pre-existing conditions. It's a no-brainer!

  • single payer. get rid of these crooked insurance companies. pay doctors good salaries and make the exchange of money go from the taxpayer to a central organization and back to the doctors and healthcare workers.

  • I'm all for single-payer.

  • I want a single-payer system as set forth in H.R.676, the Expanded & Improved Medicare for All Act, & S.703, the American Health Security Act of 2009.

I'll settle for the mandatory inclusion of a robust public health care coverage plan.

We have a embarrassing spectrum of health care from the best to stunningly bad due to barriers in access to health care. It's not the world's best if you can't get it, and the number of those who can't get it is growing.

    Communism/Socialism is a scare tactic.

  • Universal single-payer is the only way to cover everyone and contain costs. Letting people stay with plans that are expensive, require excess paperwork, and could deny them coverage - just to satisfy the insurance companies - is foolish and too expensive. Enhanced Medicare for all!

  • We must have Single Payer Universal Health Care for all Americans - it is not socialism, it is protection also for any small business person who has been providing health insurance to employees for almost 3 decades to see its cost rise at 3 times the rate of inflation till it is no longer affordable. The health insurance industry is screwing us all and this must be stopped, else our complete economic structure will collapse.

  • Someone on here said look at Scandanavian health care how great it is. Yeah, look at the personal income taxes to go with it. Dont talk about one issue of health care unless you are willing to discuss how it will be paid for. US Govt, Social Security, Sales Tax and State/Local taxes take 46% of my pay check. I would like to keep the rest thank you.

  • "The present system is not working" Sen Dodd says. My "idea" is HR 676/ SB 703. My "attention" is on the watered down ideas coming out of Capitol Hall. Even if it's about the economy, these "rising costs" can ONLY be quashed if the insurance companies are NOT allowed a "trigger option" (police themselves). It'll be a "big distraction" if our impetus for change is squandered by a band-aid bill. We need to enact something even better than FEHBP for the deserving citizens of this country.

  • Yes to a public plan, yes to bringing Healthy competition to the ill health care system. Thank you.

  • Go with H.R. 676: single-payer. Drive a stake into the heart of the private insurer behemoth, not prick its big toe & wait for it to bleed to death. Massachusetts Model? NO. Costs, premiums, & under-insured numbers way up. Accessibility to care worse. Nearly 1/3 uninsured before reform still uninsured National-scale failure like that will give credence to those who still tout market-driven care. A single-payer program will provide universal care while maintaining quality & reducing costs.

  • A curve scale approach would be favorable and beneficial for the patient, provider and Gov. Because I believe we all have to help tow the Line on this one.

Also maybe an incentive program for fit Individuals and/or citiy, county state organizations. Together we can do anything, divided we will fail.

  • Either way, they will get it wrong. I have lost complete faith in Congress. Just today they learned they would get 68 billion back from the banks. So they decided to spend it, while tomorrow they plan on selling an additional 65 billion in bonds to pay for the deficit....

  • Thanks, Senator Dodd for putting this up for public comment. My preference would be to go with the HR 676 approach. Single payer was President Truman's intention back in 1947, and there's no excuse not to have it by now.

At the very least, we must have a TRUE public option. Not mandatory corporate coverage, as with the Romney model in Massachusetts. Not subsidizing of corporate coverage.

Talk to Dr. Howard Dean. His plan is the best "compromise" solution at the moment.

  • #3. Create a public plan that competes with insurance plans. Most likely the sickest will gravitate towards the public plan; this means that the government will be at a dissadvantage, totally the contrary to what I have heard from opponents to the public plan.

#4. Take congressmen off from their federally provided health insurance and have them get private insurance on their own. Then monitor them to see who got special treatment from insurance companies and hospitals.

  • Change #1. Require Hospitals to give a SINGLE bill per visit. Say you go into an ER and require surgery, that is one visit. You should only get ONE bill. If Dell gave me 5 different receipts for a laptop (one for the CPU, one for the screen, etc., etc.) I surely wouldn't buy a Dell ever again.

Change #2. Require TRANSPARENCY from insurance companies. When an insurance company pays hospital bills, they pay at a discount, why are we kept on the dark about this Discount?

  • How about we abolish the whole idea of Universal Healthcare? The whole idea is ludicrous and ridiculous. Say "No" to it immediately.

  • There is a reason why Communism didn't work amoung several others. Additionally, ask yourselves why we have the world's best healthcare.....because we are competitive and have numerous options which will be eliminated in the event Universal Healthcare is established. Think about it people.

  • 1. Create 3-4 free medical schools, no research. Graduates must sign on to work at modest salaries for 7 years in under-served rural or urban areas, with housing assistance. Then they can do as they wish.

    2. Seed fund non-profit neighborhood health centers, which can never be converted to private ownership. Low cost care and pharmacies in one place.

3,. Allow border states to join the Canadian Health care system, with US subsidizing.

  • This is a good set of ideas. On idea #1, it would actually increase competition on the med docs market. I would add #4:

    4. Require Congressmen to acquire Individual heatlh insurance coverage, and monitor them to see if they get special treatment from any insurance company. This should get them on their toes and back to reality to learn the awful and unfair world of private-individual insurance.

  • Why did the CEO of Aetna get $26 million in compensation? Because it came out of our premiums, co-pays and deductibles. While we're in bankruptcy court because of the high costs, these guys are living the high life. What does one person do to deserve $26 million a year? How many individual health insurance policies would that buy over the course of a year? What are the profit margins for these companies?

  • When you mark up the bill, Senator Dodd, don't cross out the STRONG, govt-backed PUBLIC OPTION with NO CONDITIONS and NO TRIGGERS. Ask Dr. Dean -- he'll tell you exactly what kind of PUBLIC OPTION we demand. Max Baucus keeps talking about how there are many ways to "skin a cat." Don't let him skin the PUBLIC OPTION so that it presents no real competition to the private insurance industry.

  • The public option is critical for success, but only if it sets a high standard. Otherwise, it becomes a shield for a slashing of benefits within a very short time period.

  • 1 - US rank in per-capita health care expenditures.

37 - US rank by the World Health Organization among industrialized countries in health system performance.

2,974 - people killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

18,000 - people who die each year because of insurance company denials or lack of insurance.

100% - people in the US who will receive health care under the single payer national health insurance plan, HR 676.

0 - dollars from patients for co-pays and deductibles under HR676.

  • You want to know what we want, Senator Dodd? Get your hands off it! It's not in the Constitution and it isn't any of your business.

  • Senator Dodd,

I agree that healthcare reform is in order. I also remember Pres Obama stating in his campaign that "if you like your present health coverage, you could keep it." Please remember that promise.

  • Nationalizing health care and forcing everyone to have some sort of health insurance discriminates against those who are involved in health care sharing programs which are, in my opinion, more cost effective than insurance programs in the first place. I thought we were supposed to be eliminating discrimination, but to force all citizens to carry health insurance only discriminates against those of us that choose an alternative method, whether it be for economic, religious, or other reasons.

  • Much larger co-pays. More CASH circulating in the medical arena. Less credit/insurance picking up the tab. It is the persons responibility to decide, really, how much attention they want. That should bring more of a financial obligation, not just "how much will insurance PAY FOR?" Maybe they will stop having toes shortened and my back hurts lets fix it procedures and rethink the question? what is THE reason we "CALL THE DOCTOR"

  • The lack of compassion shown by the American people on this issue has been a real wake up call for me. I don't have insurance. I know I'm dying, but I can't even go see a doctor. I hope you all sleep well at night.

  • There is a lot of money for corporate bailouts but very little money for the health and wellbeing of the people of the USA.

How could the values and priorities of such a great country become so confused?

Let Obama take charge and allow him and his cast to build a system of health care that will place the health and welfare of this country's people first.

Placing people first, ahead of capitalistic ideals, will create a stronger more desirable country to live in.

  • I'd like to see the government get out of health care and let the free market do what it does best. More government regulations are not the answer.

  • Doctors/hospitals say "wait a minute, I won't make as much money under health care reform?" Canada & most European countries get the care they need because costs are controlled. Republican Congress says people don't want gov't getting between them & their doctor. Spoken by someone w/excellent cheap health care. Many don't have doctor & some w/health insurance still go bankrupt! We need universal health care to fix our broken economy and broken population.

  • Giving billions to bailout AIG and all the other companies we've spent qudrillions in bailing out and we can't give money to pay for everyone's health care-that pretty well says what the USA is all about.

Let's hear it for Capitalism YEEAAH free market! Cough! Cough! Cough! I'm dead!

  • The only TRUE REFORM - ( not half-baked "bandaged"): remove completely the FOR-PROFIT-HEALTH-AS-A-COMMODITY model. why ?

The health care industry employs more people simply to pull patient records than it does nurses. The health care industry is among the most inefficient in the nation, antiquated in its lack of information technology and quality measurements.

Fact: 31 % of health insurance dollars go to admin cost & profiteers' pockets. 60 % of bankcrupcies In the US are health care related

  • Churches and parachurch organizations should not be deprived of their right to practice this which is exactly what will happen if Healthcare becomes MANDATORY. GIVE US THE FREEDOM TO CHOOSE!

  • Healthcare should not be forced upon people. I agree that the insurance companies combined with pharmaceuticals segments have created an environment that keeps people sick. If you wish to explore further search on essiac tea and see how this successful treatment of cancer patients left to die by the medical community has been responded to since it's start in the 1930s.

  • try the crook for treason. tj

  • The insurance companies have tentacles running into politics just like the Godfather had his puppet strings running into politics. This sudden demonstration of interest in the opinions of the little people is all pretend. There will be no universal health care in America. The insurance companies will continue to profit while you die.

  • Senators and Congressmen's health care is paid for for LIFE! Quit spending money on farm subsidies, weapons, corporate bailouts, and all the other corrupt bullshit and we could have health care paid for. We live in one of the wealthiest nations on earth and people are starving to death. People are dying in droves because they can't afford necessary medicines and operations. It's never going to be fixed, or change. So why even bother with the fake dog and pony show senator?

  • Cut the US military by half and use it for health care and education. Fix our dependency on foreign oil. Americans can create solar and wind generators for American homes and businesses. We can install wind and solar electric generators on the homes and other buildings around the country. Since electricity will be free with a surplus, just keep charging them the same rate as they would normally pay the utility company until the solar and wind units are paid off.

    watch?v=jqxENMKaeCU

  • how much does it cost to install wind and solar panels and generators on every home and business? iran gets to go nuclear but we can't, we have to drive little lawnmowers with windshields? you idealists are mind bogglingly naive.

  • My idea on healthcare is dont get sick!!

Cuz the current health care is a mess, Doctors/hospitals take advantage of your insurance and set u up for unnecessary appointments just to waist ur time and collect money from your insurance while u actually in desperate need of treatment!

I bet if we had the same healthcare as Europeans they wont be able to do that cuz they know they going to get paid what they suppose to get paid.

I say this cuz I know and I experienced at first hand.

    good luck!

  • Who is going to PAY for this ?

  • Did you happen to hear about a national sales tax that was proposed several days ago?

    That's how.

  • I have no health insurance, and I hurt everyday. The one thing that helps out a lot (even though it's illegal) is cannabis. I think medical marijuana can really help the economy and thousands to millions of people.

  • Any company with a large amount of employees should be required to pay for employee costs (i.e Walmart) while small businesses would have a waiver. Individuals with income exceeding a certain amount would be excluded from the government program(i.e needs test) while the rest would be eligible to choose from certain private insurances funded by tax payer dollars. This being said, we will also need torte. You know this though, stop listening to lobbyist. We are not as ignorant as you think.

  • My suggestion would be looking at the article of Krugman: "Keeping them honest" By PAUL KRUGMAN Published: June 5, 2009. And cut military expenditure.

  • Mainstream alternative healthcare, giving people a choice on how to look after themselves. Focus on prevention rather than treatment. Educate, starting at an early age the benefits of a quality diet.

  • Heres what I dont get here in california I pay my state taxes and a big portion is going to pay for the Medi-cal program but even though I pay into that program ... im not allowed to use it .... wtf... im getting nothing for paying into something.... sure Its a good program for the disabled... pregnant... children ... people on ssi ... but why do I need to pay their bills ... when you aint even given me the opportunity to even get a mere check up .... but I have to pay for sallys 3 kids.... BS..

  • the government pays 25 percent and the rest will come out of the patients' pockets. that way the market decides the cost through competitions. the patients don't likely to commit fraud.

  • Socialized health care... or any kind of system that pays into the government, will simply be broke in our lifetime like Social Security and Medicare. How can we trust that the politicians will spend money on the health care system and not other things? They bankrupted Social Security and Medicare and spent those depended "lock box" government savings accounts on pork projects! What's stopping them from doing the same with government-run health care that will bankrupt COMPETING corporations!

  • You want my ideas for health care reform? They certainly don't have anything to do with the government. I would appreciate it if senators did not get involved with my health, my doctor, or how I pay for either of them. Thank you for your concern though.

  • yes senator.

here is what i would like the government to do.

get the hell out of the way.

u guys screw up everything u touch.

what makes people think u can run health care.

  • Create 2 systems one for everyone and one private, the one for everyone is free for everyone, regardless if u r legal or an illegal too. Other keep it as it is, i perfer to pay more for good docs, get what u pay for!

  • let's go with this idea-good thinking!

  • Canada's health care system has plenty of problems as well (being a canadian I would know). However, our system is INFINITELY better than the american one. The only problem is, most americans don't know what they're missing out on --> ignorance. Such a shame.

  • Oh Canada.

  • The more the government gets involved, the more screwed up and expensive its going to get. Here is an idea: LEAVE US ALONE!

1:08 Oh thank you soosososso much mister Dodd for allowing us to keep what we already have! Kind sir you are truly doing us all a great favor and allowing those of us who work hard and pay to for our health care to keep it! What would us little people do without you, your greatness? You are a great patriot.

  • I am consrevative as well, but I recognize we need to change something. Also, the man is a US senator and we should respect the office he holds. I know how I felt when I would hear, read, see some of the outright disgusting things people said about President Bush.

  • Northwestern European health-care systems.

  • How can the American health care system get any worse when 25% of the people in the country cant afford to see a doctor/

Maybe there is a large % of people who can afford insurance to get medical services, but not all of them can.

All the wealthiest people may be equiped to afford the health care security, but even many of those people will be forced to choose between their life and their family home.

  • How about, I don't know... listen to the experts? That's usually a good idea.

    /watch?v=N3WioFIbksk

  • One word: Norway

  • Big business should not be running the US health care system. It creates a two tier system - one for the rich and one for the poor. That does not exist here in Canada. The US needs universal health care so everyone has access to the same medical care. The Canadian system is not perfect but at least we don't get billed when we access medical care. Americans should embrace social medicine, not fear it.

  • The US needs a universal health care system. I am Canadian and I know our system will take care of all my health needs when I require them. Our health care system is not without its problems but at least everyone is covered. We pay for our health care through our taxes and doctors cannot charge whatever they want for medical procedures. There are no private hospitals for the wealthy. The US needs to embrace social medicine, not fear it.

  • Our ideas?

    Single payer.

  • Was that single payer or single prayer????

  • Put the plague in your water

  • Mitch McConnell is the reason I'm a re-

covering republican. I am currently on the

medi-care system and am perfectly satis-

fied with the care I am receiving.

The public option is mandatory, period.

Better still eliminate the for profit insurance companies altogether but we

know the folks on K-street have to be re-

warded for all their contributions don't they. Do what's right for America and not

    the special interests.

  • I hope my comments get posted. I understand that my views are contrary to The Senators, but you wanted to hear our thoughts:)

  • Try saying that after you lose your house because your medical bills are too high. A healthcare system that revolves around "pay and get service" is not a healthcare system, butn Enterprise that is only liked by those wo have not lived through the cons of this

  • Two words: less government. Stop leaching on the private sector and let us handle our own problems.

  • Health stats:

Life Expectancy in the US? = 78.14 years.

    Canada? = 81.6 years.

You're fooling yourself if you think socialized medicine is THE DEVILLLLLLLLLL. Literally fooling yourself. Good job on thinking like whatever party you've assigned yourself to though. Try being an independent.

  • What's the problem? Just go to the ER and tell them you can't pay, like the illegals and lifetime welfare recipients? Don't worry, the taxpayers who can't afford the same coverage will pay for your whole bill. This is America, land of it's free!

  • Canada is still great but many European countries have better health care systems.

  • Government can't fix healthcare without limiting progress and spending more money they don't have. It's amazing that these guys keep coming up with billion dollar projects and spending money like it's doesn't have to be repaid. What are you going to do, appoint a health car tsar and cut the fat like the automotive industry. Please! Reduce government spending now! Who really thinks we should be borrowing trillions, funding everything, and paying for everyone?

  • Copy the Canadian system. A comment of the culture of "fear of socialism": I don't see why Americans fear socialized Medicine when most of the countries with this system have a higher quality of care and higher life expectancy than Americans.

    Basic points:

    - Universal coverage; the phrase "you are sick you will be treated, no discussion" should be applied.

    - For-Profit Medicine should head the way of the dinosaur, health care is a service for the people so they live better, not a business.

  • Look at scandinavia...

  • Jesus, three words, UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE

hey, doctors many not make as much, but they'll still have an amazingly decent paycheck, plus, you get the people that want to help people instead of a bunch of greedy egotistical bastards,

worried about people without coverage? then give it to them

i feel it makes a better society as well, you could not be sick a day in your life but pay for it, but, you'r helping out your fellow Americans, it helps the people that cant pay for the needed treatment

  • Buddah, three words, LOWER HEALTHCARE STANDARDS.

Just look at our Government ran Veterans Hospitals to get an idea of how Universal Healthcare would be.......

  • As a Canadian...the health care system here is terrible. Don't believe the hype. People go the emerg and end up walking out because of the wait.

  • Americans have that same problem now, yet we are paying more money than any country in the world for our health care.

  • dude, a lot of people go to emergency rooms because they're pussies. Broken thumb? You can wait.

  • Hai, no thnx.

  • Dont copy the canadian system. If u copy their system u will have 2 copy their tax system 2 pay 4 it. With Social Security being on the verge of bank ruptcy, the worst thing we need 2 do now is start another system we will have 2 pay out the ass 4. I have been paying SS 4 35 yrs. I want 2 start getting my money back on that system before I consider another. Besides, if people cant manage their finances & health, why should someone else pay 4 it?

  • You've made a stupid point.

You type horribly. I'm sorry, but you know nothing of whatever you're speaking about.

  • Leave us alone! Let me take care of mine! Keep your hands out of my pocket! You have screwed us enough! Find anothert crook and have a beer. I WANT THE CZAR'S OUT! Sorry i voted as i did.

  • We need free vaccines for everybody and free Viagra also. And free Tamiflu. Thank you in advance.

  • Don't limit pay on any healthcare practitioners. Don't limit pay on Doctors,Nurses, Physical Therapists etc... None of that, they go to school, get their degrees and they have tough jobs. I dont think in healthcare reform, they should get their salary lowered. I think we gotta do something about the insurance companies, maybe lowering their pay and profits? We gotta make the health care system more efficient, but we have to do it without limiting or lowering healthcare practitioner's pay.

  • maybe they should let ppl die, like the animal kingdom does......and it would reduce the population problem too....man, im a genius....

  • I agree copy the canadian system!! Iam a Canadian and i have multiple heath problems, and all my hospital visits and surgery cost me nothing!!! thats right not a dime. if i lived in the states I would be bankrupt literaly. I dont understand why (USA) cannot or will not adopt this type of system there aparently the riches country on earth right?? well anyway im glad to be Canadian and lucky.

  • As a Canadian I would have to suggest to copy our healthcare plan. Its great, no direct fees, and the doctors are some of the best in the world. The one problem I would say that needed to be improved is the wait for treatment, but when it is free, all I ask is that you not let me die in the waiting room.

  • why dont you make every american 18 yrs and older pay 300-400 dollars a year, and they get all the healthcare they need. I am glad we dont have your kind of healthcare system. You should start to walk the talk :) Americans need a huge change in that area.

  • Copy the Canadian healthcare system.

  • I live in Canada, and I agree.

Canadian health care is really good, people say we have really long waiting lists, but I've never really waited that long for anything.

  • Go two Tier.

    I'm a canadian,

Our system is good, but it is VERY slow.

  • How is that healthcare system?

  • I am uninsured but I know what will happen if health care was turned into the DMV. I'd rather pay for good immediate treatment instead of being given terrible treatment that I'll wait an eternity for.

  • Exactly

  • Try saying that after you lose your house because your medical bills are too high. A healthcare system that revolves around "pay and get service" is not a healthcare system, but an Enterprise that is only liked by those who have not lived through the cons of this process.

"You can always tell the quality of something by how it treats the worst off." How well off are those who die because they can't pay? I'm glad I live in Canada, and I'm glad reform has come to the US.

  • In America, you can still keep your home, (provided you can pay your mortage). If medical bills are too overwhelming, due to the fact that you had no insurance or limited insurance, you can still fill Bankruptcy and keep your home.

  • My idea: Leave us alone. Please. We are begging you. Also, leave my money alone. Get a job or a hobby like stamp collecting. Just quit spending money. Let Americans get by on our own. We can. Individualism is what made this country great. Quit trying to make us all dependent on the state. Collectivism has never worked anywhere in the world, and it won't work here either. So, Chris Dodd, enough with the calls for quick action, except to quickly act to start minding your own business.

  • On the contrary here in Canada Public health care works. Some aspects of collectivism work only some though. Just like certain parts of Captilism.

  • Cut costs and decrease profits in certain sectors.

    1) Why should insurances profit that much from patients and make a huge business out of it?

    2) Why do nurses need to get paid so much? I know it's a hard job, but the fact is that they get paid way more than anywhere else.

    3) Physical therapy is another profession that earns too much. Both the degree as well as the so called "Dr." status is a joke. Ever saw how little they do all day?

    4) Profits should stay for the real doctors

  • what are you talking about?

physical therapists go to grad school for 3 years and earn around 60-70k. This is not much.

if anyone in the medical field needs to get less money, it's chiropractors. PT actually works, where chiropractors are more often than not complete frauds.

I agree with your point #1, but not with point #2 and #3.

Yes, MD's are underpaid, but they still make a good living.

It's the business assholes on wall street that need a paycut, not PT's and Nurses.

    just my opinion.

  • Well at least it works. At least we don't have to wait six months on a brain tumor analysis or have to have shit doctors operating on our bodies. That's why so many Canadians go over here and pay the money to be treated because it currently works. The hospital shouldn't be like the DMV. Maybe if you weren't so passionate about a certain people who do not deserve what we give them because they broke the law, you would understand how much of a bad idea "free" "healthcare" is.

  • i'm not from US but i dont think physiotherapists do much to earn big money.

  • wow

  • Dear Americans: Don´t let socialists and liberals socialize your healthcare, because it sucks. I`m a physical therapist working in Argentina, where healthcare is available for everybody including foreigners, and I earn less than 400 dollars a month. I get paid 120 days after having given attention to patients (private healthcare) and public healthcare usually pays with a six month delay. We study like assholes for over six years, and we are almost below the minimum wage.

  • Physical therapists are a joke. In a lot of countries you do not need a university degree for that at all. And why should you? They do absolutely nothing and get paid so much. I know since I am currently volunteering as I am in med school. There is absolutely no difference between physical therapists that went to university and have a Dr title and the ones in the countries in which no university degree is necessary. It's a disgrace to the real Dr.'s that they even get to carry the Dr title

  • somehow even though canada's doctors all go to the US for money, we still get better healthcare with understaffed hospitals

  • Here is a novel idea. Why don't we stick to the constitution and have the government stay out of the private industry. The fact is every government run healthcare system is going bankrupt, is bankrupt or only serves a few.

@supablackman - if your healthcare system is so great why do I meet Canadians in United States doctor offices because they would rather pay out of pocket than wait or end up with an inferior doctor

PsychoticusRex - thats not even true at all....

  • I think you should look at the Canadian system. You should also transfer part of the military budget to the health system. Simple as that (in theory)

  • Here's a novel ideal. Why not stop federal funding for dangerous psyche meds that CPS gives foster kids to dumb them down, numb their minds while state scum lies to thepublic in hiding the gay agenda trafficking in children? This is a holocaust of children and families that deserves a new Nuremberg trial...coming soon to the USA.

  • i thank god i live in australia , our heath care is'nt perfect but i dont have to worry about going bankrupt or getting a bed in a hospital if i need it.

  • In Europe healthcare is free, Healthcare is a sovereign right of every human being.

  • i'm a candian but i'll say this ILLIGAL IMIGARANT's should not get health care

our health care here is Flawed doctors can only work for 3 days out of the week (vecause thats all they will be paid for) and often will only preform 2 of a scertan procedure a day

allso we will spend three time's the cost to preform certan opperations ion canadsa to send someone to michigan with travel and hotel expensses paid by tax payer dollars to avoid paying usign canadian operating rooms

    thanks

  • i think the doctors in canada suck cuz they are overworked there isnt enough doctors here

    and thats another problem....

would you become a doctor ya sure get your phd how much is that 40 grand that just encourages ppl to throw them selves at such a career when in europel school is practically free doctors everywhere wohooo!

ask yourself this would you become a docotor knowing youll be 100 grand in debt?

  • A good chunk people get their masters/phd degrees paid (or most of it) through scholorships/ sponsers.

  • Perhaps it has something to do when the conservative government at the time cut funding towards healthcare in order to put towards the military. Just a thought, for you, because it seems as if you can't connect the simple together.

  • Be In Shape !!!

  • you wonder why education is expensive?

you wonder why health care is expensive?

you wonder why energy price are expensive?

    Answer = The Government.

The more they "help" the worse it gets.

  • Amen, government needs to get it's hand out of the cookie jar, and leave it for the common people to use at will.

  • The population of the

    United States

    is 307,212,123

And you are complaing about 50,000,00 people not haveing coverage?

  • How are you going to pay for this.

  • Sorry i have to say this... but after watching the film "Sicko" (by Michael Moore) I am really glad to live in a bad "socialist" country in Europe... the problem is u american are always more interested in making money and not in helping each other (as we in europe call it "solidarity") maybe you will learn some day...

  • If there was no national debt, there would be no money in circulation.

  • As a Canadian I am very satisfied with our healthcare system. If you get sick all you do is go to the hospital and show your health card and you are covered. My best advice to my America friends is lobby your senators and congressmen to get our former health ministers, prime ministers and provincial premiers to explain to you all how they have managed our healthcare system. Our healthcare system is cost efficient and cheap to run compared to the American health system.

  • Please keep your health care system exactly as it is. I can't think of a better way to kill more Americans. I'd donate to the Republican party if I could.

  • no thanks- there is a reason the rest of the world comes here for healthcare

  • state run Healthcare - no thanks. That is way Canadians and Caribbean and UK residents come here for their healthcare. Please don't make that mistake.

  • Do it like in Austria!!!!!

The health system belongs to the state. This means the state covers at least 80% of the operations, medicaments and doctors. Still you have to pay monthly money but this is far less than in the USA. Now you may think that the hospitals are totally occupied and one has to wait years for operations- NO! To have a special plastic surgery you have to wait 7 months but for regular operat. you wait 3 weeks at max.

  • Improve health care by removing federal government involvement as much as possible. It's not constitutional anyway, and you'll only make things worse. It is incorrect, and arrogant to think that you know better what people should spend their money on than they do.

  • NO nationalized healthcare! I grew up going on medical mission trips (my mother is a doctor) to countries that have socialized medicine. It wasn't pretty! Where are Americans supposed to go, when nationalized healthcare fails?!

Anytime the govt gets involved we are stuck with corrupt politicians that swindle our tax dollars away to their own "tax havens" - like ACORN.

    Govt Owned/Operated:

    DMV, USPS, FannieMae, Medicare/Medicaid...

Are any of these programs finanically stable? NO!!

  • Get the government out of healthcare so costs can go down

The best way to distribute any good or service is through the free market.

  • Thanks for the opportunity to comment. I want "Single Payer" but would settle for s "Public Option" to start with. This option becomes much more tenable with increased support for Rural Health Clinics and Federally Qualified Health Centers. The greatest support would be a program to allow new Nurse Practitioners to work off student loans by working in a shortage area. Look at Oregon Community Health Information Network as a model to make EHR practical for small clinics

  • Senator Dodd,

It is not the Federal Government's responsibility to administer health care. Those powers are clearly delegated to the states in the 10th Amendment. Please do not enact any new federal legislation to this point and work towards eliminating all federal health care programs.

    Thank you.

  • Regardless of the public method used, the private health care model will be destroyed. Why not place a cost ceiling on all health care? Short term, this would allow those that want health care and can't afford it to do so. Next, flood the market with doctors. This is the slowest method of intervention to platform the eventual government control of health care. Governmental incremental strategies would work well within such a model IMO, and set the stage for annexation of pharmaceuticals.

  • Profit should not be part of taking care on citizens medical needs. Capitalism has no place in Health Insurance. Pay the physicians and medical staff more, retain better caregivers, cut out the Insurance company profits, and still employ the same number of people. This is about being free to make choices in America without being teathered to an employers health plan, and the result will be more small business owners who can create even more jobs. Win Win.

  • socialized medicine has failed miserably in every country in Europe that enacted it! proof enough for this tax payer that government any bodys government has no business reinventing another bottomless pit in the name of reform.

Retired Veteran still waiting for the free medical and dental for life promised at enlistment if I made it to retirement.

  • For those Americans retired, laid-off, disabled, vets, failed pension fund, kids, these good people deserve our help. It's a no brainer.

Those of us who pay taxes are simply tired of paying for those who are on lifetime welfare, illegal, to lazy to work, on drugs, in jail, etc. Give these folks a work for healthcare option collecting taxes to pay their share.

  • I'm gonna go with you on that, for those who think the canadian system of health care is so great theyre sadly mistaken, theres people that will come to american and pay surgury fees out of pocket because theyre not fast enough here, even if im wrong on that look at the population of canada compared to here, socialized health care would never work, when has socialized anything ever worked

  • Consider a no-blame complete coverage program. Resources are far better spent on health than lawsuits.

  • single payer

  • Single-payer, public option is the ONLY way to solve this problem.

  • conservativeinexile,

Your a moron. It's not free, it's paid for with tax dollars. And, it'll cost a lot less, no advertising, no multi-million dollar salaries for executives. Health insurance companies are a parasite on our economy.

    Ass.

  • Single Payer for all, including congress. Higher progressive income taxes. Higher gas taxes. Higher vehicle registration fees. Low taxes on Real Estate and stocks and bonds sales. Insurance co-ops for anyone who wants them. Lobbying allowed but NO donations to anyone. A free media, licensed and monitored to tell the truth.

  • the 46 million people could have it if they stopped leasing cars they cant afford

  • How about the Federal Gov't follow the Constitution and stay out of the health care biz? How about we show some fiscal responsibility for once? How about you name me one well ran gov't enterprise? How about we talk about how well the current gov't run healthcare is doing? Medicare is about to go belly up and you want to take on more spending?

  • Effective health care is impossible in the current political environment. Profit has to be removed from medicine before a viable solution can be found. The profit will never be removed from medicine because your fellow senators pockets are being lined with money from it.

  • WATCH THE WORLD ON THE TOP OF THE PG!!!! CLICK IT THN CLICK ME!!!! Global Family is the solution and we need to network all of our time and minds! lets do this!

  • As a Canadian I gotta say that the American system just seems... evil. HMOs do whatever they can to prevent paying for your surguries. I would say you need either a system where you pay for Healthcare via your taxes (divert money from military maybe?) or keep the HMOs but make it impossible to be rejected and impossible to refuse payment. If 5 million people pay for health care and only 100,000 need payment, thats a huge amount of profit.

  • We need a single payer option

  • I dont want any changes. Americans have had enough of "change" for awhile.

  • Americans should ask Ron Paul on this issue. I'm sure he could fix many proplems Americans are waiting for. Don't believe me? Well, just wait till the Country is bankrupt and more jobs are lost. What happened to the country of hope and of the future for those residing in the USA?

Federal Reserve has every American by their throat... wake up ppl. Let me sum it up...you, yes you... you are the government of the USA. You are in control and you are in power to take down any government official.
