  • Always amazes me how the wonder years pairs FANTASTIC music with the really emotional parts of the episode. Neil Young's "long may you run" is dead-on perfect in the scene where the family car is being towed off.

If only cars could talk. They see alot of things though the years, and shouldn't be discarded so readily. I'm glad to say that at 24 i'm still driving the same car I inherited when I was 14....My beautiful black cutlass......Long may you run!

  • They could have actually had a '63 station wagon to be more believable instead of one that was only one year older than the new car

  • I applaud Jack for trying to get the most out of things, like the car and the television set. He wasn't rich and understood the value of quality and a dollar.

Personally I find it disturbing how quickly people go through things these days: computers, cellphones, digital cameras, etc.

  • Its all kinds of practical messages in this show ! Sometimes you have to let go and move on and it hurts !

  • When we got my new car we had to get rid of our 26 year old Tercel of 246,000 miles. I just cried and cried when it was taken away from our driveway. I now get teary eyed whenever I hear "Long May You Run." This episode really hits home

  • Jack's actually a cool guy

  • This is my fave TWY episode. Love the way Jack stalls on everything for all sorts of reasons, but the truth all along was that he just didn't want to part with the car he raised his family in. Felt the same way when we offloaded our first family car.

  • the ridiculous part of this is that the car is not a 9-yr old car or a 1963 car but a 1968 Dodge Polara, which would've been just A YEAR old at this time (1969)!

  • @firedup643 Recall??!

  • The car = the family...

  • Thats how I felt when my Lil poodle died yesterday, very hard to say goodbye, today would have been her fourth birthday :,(

  • I feel bad for Jack because the idea of losing a car after so long is so emotional.

  • Who takes their home videos? In most of them, the whole family is visible.

  • @firefairyangel7 /watch?v=yQredJp276A

  • Has anyone else noticed that the car they got rid of is all of 2 years older than the one they bought? They gave up a 1966 Dodge station wagon for a 1968 Ford sedan, that's quite the step up lol.

  • @merion1950 Actually the Ford sedan was a 1969 model

  • Normal is right, retire the damn thing, even though it is a nice classy car way better than shitbox cars they making today.

  • Wow, Its the first time I've ever seen Normal (Mom) snapped off like that, period. She's really HOT!!!

  • @qwandiddy its "Norma" not "Normal" lmao

  • damn hippie girl

  • I grew up in an old white Mitsubishi van. My family and all our friends loved it! When i was 14 it completely died, but it sat on my street for a whole year till my mom was ready to say goodbye. I definitely know what kevin was talking about in the end, and I think most people do too. I had so many good times in that van, and it was hard to accept the fact that I wouldn't have any more. At least i will always have the memories.

  • The old car is clearly a '68 Dodge Polara wagon...why do they say it's a '63?? So the new '69 Ford Galaxie or Custom he bought is really only one year newer.

  • i like when the car backfires. I thought it was so funny.

  • Wow, If I was a part of that family I would of slapped Karen's face off. lol I know their all frustrated because he's having trouble letting that car go but theirs certain things you don't say to your father and she said them. lol

  • @djgras25 - I'm surprised he didn't TBH. But then again, I didn't watch this show very often.

  • @djgras25 She suffers from a disease called "Liberalism". Damn tree hugging hippies!

  • @ejr23

I don't think her political ideology has anything to do with it. She just has a big ass mouth.

  • @ejr23 I'm not referring to her ideology in this situation. I'm referring to her character in general.

  • @ejr23 "LIberalism pretty much means sophisticated and educated nowadays. "Conservative" generally means crude, uneducated, and jihadist (Sarah Palin type).

  • @Robert111 So guess when liberals say that criminals (such as murderers, rapist, pedophiles, and child molesters) should be allowed to live and continue to infect our society.

  • @ejr23 You are asking me to guess when they say that, huh? OK... Never. As a group, and there are no doubt millions of "liberals", I'm sure that they do not take that position. If you have any other question, let me know.

  • @Robert111 the only thing liberals are educated about is how welfare works
