How cool are these guys! I listened to the first album when it came out (a few years ago) and immediately was negative to Geddy's voice but loved the music as it was very heavy for the time. When Fly By Night came out I realized how phenomenal Geddy is and never have had a complaint since. The are and always have been THE band!
Neil went through a major struggle in the late 90's where he lost his wife and daughter. It put Rush on a hiatus for a short while and Neil Peart experienced a long journey down a healing road (as he wrote in his book about it). Ever since, Neil hasn't felt comfortable in interviews. Many reasons could factor in there.
@rockston11 He was reclusive even before then. He made a point in the song Limelight, saying, "I can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend." He's not comfortable in the spotlight.
Yeah, you're right. I didn't really pay much attention to the Neil Peart from the past at the time I wrote that...However, Alex and Geddy both state that it's been since his family's loss that "he's been almost 100% behind the scenes".
@rockston11 and a little side note here does Neil always ride his motorcycle to gigs when they are touring a continent for awhile? cause it seemed that way when it got to that part of the documentary.
@LegendOfOldTrafford Neil used to actually travel around between gigs on bicycle(at least once they reached the city limits of course) until he started riding his motorcycle but I think he does it as often as he has the chance to really, like if there is good scenery, weather etc im not sure if its what he does all the time though
@rockston11 Masked Rider is Neil's first book. It's about his travels through Africa by bike. It's an interesting story, but it is his first book. The best book he's done is Ghost Rider. It's a very revealing account of his personal journey of healing. It's a travel book, but Neil is, I think) more incisive in his observations of the worlds he encounters on his journey. It's also, considering the reason for his journey, quite a funny tale of about people and places he encounters.
Yeah....It's a bit embarassing looking back at that comment I left 8 months ago...I have read 3 out of 4 of his books, 2 of which were the ones you have just mentioned. Thanks for the insight though, I'd have needed it, haha.
Bravado is one of their greatest songs, I know a lot of people talk about the old stuff being the best, but Bravado sends chills down my spine every time I hear it.
Thank you for posting this for guys and gals like me in Australia!!
in 1985 my brother delivered a pizza to Alex and family when they lived on Yonge St between Aurora and Newmarket! haha!

I'm so glad that they extended the doc's release in theatres to NY. Everyone there had Rush t's and they even rallied off a Rush guitar.

LMAO @Alex "I can't imagine what the next 40 years will be like." They would be around that long if they could!

Always. You should seriously pick up any of his 4 books. I recommend each of them equally.

I LOVE how he mentioned the lyric from BRAVADO, because I have always LOVED that song, it is perhaps my favorite Rush song. SO moving!
