This man saved my childcare's life while he served as commissioner of HHS by forcing MA DSS to reopen charges that they were be housed in an attic on visitation weekends; which they were. MA made a phone call to the parent and lied. A phone call! Commissioner Stephen demanded they reopen, INVESTIGATE, and report findings. In other words, he demanded that they do their job for the sake of the children. He has my vote and the deportment of HHS has my support.

How about doing something with the Marital Masters program. Its federally funded under a cooperative agreement with the NH DHHS, which you were the Commissioner. MM's are supposed to act in an advisory role to the judge, but have been illegally allowed to make decision affecting the fundamental constitutional rights of parents. Federal funds are not supposed to be used to discriminate, yet they have routinely engaged in racial and gender bias in their custody decisions.

Sounds like his biggest objection to the REAL ID is that it is a "hidden tax." There are bigger objections to REAL ID than that! Isn't there a Ron Paul Republican running against this guy?

I agree with margomaps. He sounds good. I'm not gifted with much but I am gifted with the ability to see through steel. Fool the many, but not the few. I do like what he says, but with the DHHS background & training the police in the 4th/5th amendments, he's just been around too much corruption for me. It has been my experience that cops often play a very dirty game under the guise of "hero". They are NOT heroes to me. Notice the blink after he says certain things? Look & listen closely.

I don't think he sounded good. Here's why. He said bills a) had to be constitutional to get his vote, then he said a bill should b) be tested as to whether or not the federal government should do it. But that's exactly what the constitutional test means. So he's going to a) test it once by the constitution then b) again by another copy of the constitution? That, or he doesn't know what he's really saying.

He talked a decent talk. He didn't promise to vote against "a lot of bills" in Congress, but instead gave a softer answer about trying to make sure legislation passes constitutional muster.

It's nice that he pays lip service to limited government, lower taxes, more freedom. But I've heard similar constitution soundbites from Obama and Hillary. The answer to "Is it constitutional?" varies widely depending on the politician. Obama would "constitutionally" ban most firearms. 'nuff said.

Now there's a department that needs to be eliminated. And what does he do, touts the successes of the department. We simply don't need a department of health and human services, especially at the national level. I don't believe this guy.

I agree. DHHS is just another welfare promoting, corrupt, government group that create problems for families. This guy is typical for most politicians today. He also mentions working for Homeland Security, another red flag though I wouldn't automatically disqualify anyone based on the jobs they've held. I began typing this before the clip was over but the last minute kinda sealed it for me.

In his defense, I was an IT contractor at DHHS in the previous millennium (actually working on Y2K at the time). Commissioner John Stephen canceled all contracts effective 1/1/2000 to save money. He started to try to defend it when we chatted before the "response video" I posted above, but I assured him I had no problem with it. MANY DHHS employees had BIG problems with him. Take that for what it's worth. If the entrenched statists don't like their leader... Hey, SOMEBODY's gonna win the seat.

Jon Tester from Montana stated his goal was to repeal the Real ID Act. Once elected, I emailed him and asked what he was doing to repeal RID. His reply, that we had to balance our need security with our civil liberties. What makes you think this guy would be any different? What kind of record does he have on the issue? Beware of those making false promises.
