  • @sikokiller12 1979-1980 season. Also ChrisFord was the first to shoot one

  • If the 3 point was introduce, it was a Lakers victory :o

    Amazing Moment :3

  • this should be nba's greatest moments#1

  • Damn, if there is 3 point he could've won.

  • This doesn't work on 2K12 :W

  • I think this should be #1 maybe IMO

  • Great play, but ranked a little too high IMO.

  • and the Lakers still lost..Oh the pain..JW was my "all" wen I was a kid

  • @Powerules amen my friend

  • West is truly one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

  • Jerry West is in every one of these videos.

  • HOLY SHIT this dude was clutch!

  • @dantheman9758 Now u know why hes the NBA Logo

  • When did the NBA bring in the 3 point line?

  • @sikokiller12 1980

  • Wow that sucks. No three point line to tie the game!

  • That barely even touched the rim. And Jerry West just walks back to the bench like it was nothing after he made it.

  • ¡¡¡ CANASTON DEL GRAN JERRY WEST !!!!

  • como diria el gran grandísimo ANDRES MONTES ¡¡¡¡ DIIIIIIIIN - DOOOOOOOON !!!!!

  • so the logo was made off of jerry west?

  • @mclean2010 Yup... the figure of the NBA logo is Jerry West

  • its things like this that make me proud to be a lakers fan

  • My favourite player of all time and I never even saw the man play live.

    JERRY WEST <3

  • on 3 seconds omg

  • thats a fucking 4 point to me

  • @watchmen715 more like 10 pts

  • lakers still lost in overtime

  • @erbanez 1979 is when the 3 point line started.

  • i don't even know those guys

  • @DJHarmony70 Even people who don't follow basketball know who Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain are.

  • @CoolerKing37 tbh, i didnt know jerry west but thats because i live in europe:x

  • west threw it up and makes it.

  • @Fallenkidxx2909 In 30 years they will forget jordan or claim jordan is overrated. Its a cycle, but saying russell's time isn't nba is pretty gay , you need to quit hating

  • These greatest moments would be a whole lot better if they had a five second, one sentence slide telling the situation. Game 7 etc.

  • @Fallenkidxx2909 its because Chamberlain scored those 100 against white guys who would of been the size of a point guard or SG total. Its like Lebron scoring 100 against a high school team, he was just ahead of his time

  • @Fallenkidxx2909 because ESPN has no memory before 1980.

  • @Fallenkidxx2909 true.... on the other hand, they talked about Wilt last night, several times..... Kobe torched the East for 37 but he didn't break Chamberlain's 42 point record.... what about LeBron mess around got a triple double? him and mj the only guys to do that

I thought that was a great All-Star game a good deal on the 60th one

  • @Fallenkidxx2909 it's impossible to do what Chamberlain did, huh? Check out NBA dot com for some of his records and the rules that were changed to try & stop him.

Jerry is the Logo because of what he did for basketball, not because he sold shoes & hamburgers in a marketing blitz. MJ was a great player all right, but being famous from selling shoes in commercials isn't why

Jerry West created milions & millions of basketball fans at a time when the league was selling 5 or 7,000 tickets to a game

  • @Fallenkidxx2909 oh I'm sorry my friend. I thought you were calling MJ the best of all time because you knew some hoops history so you could know how to compare him with the greatest players of all time.

There WAS an ABA, and it had some great players all right, Connie Hawkins, Dan Issel, Artis Gilmore, and MJ's hero David Skywalker Thompson, plenty more.

The guys I'm talking about were never in the NBA.

How can you call MJ the greatest of all time when you don't know basic stuff like that?

  • @Fallenkidxx2909 Havlicek won 8 rings, Russell won 11.

Chamberlain dunked from the FT line, but he didn't run to do it - just 1 step & dunk. Did Jordan score 100? How about 70? Did he average 50, or 44, or 38 for a season? Does he rate 4th all time in triple doubles, both regular season & playoffs? Did they change the rules to make it harder for him? Or did they move the 3pt line IN 2 feet so he could get his average out of the gutter & change the rule about handchecks so he could push off?

  • You can't really say that it would've won the Lakers the game had the three-pointer been invented back then, because there were probably other shots behind the "three point line" (in quotes as it didn't exist at the time) during the game

  • Mr. Cluth Kobe learned something

  • you got me with it but there are players that are way better than him

Did Jordan score 8 3 Pointers in an NBA Finals game Ray Allen did

Did He Ever score 81 Points in a Game Kobe Bryant did'

Did He Ever Score 8 points in 9 seconds Reggie Miller did

Also In a Crucial Game Nick Anderson stole the ball out of his hands

Did He Ever Block and Dunk on Patrick Ewing Muggsy Bogues and Scottie Pippen

  • @Angelslover9 Did any of those players win 6 championships and 6 Finals MVPs? It's pointless to bring up random statistics by other players under different circumstances. Did any of those players make the most free throws in a game? No. So by your logic, Adrian Dantley is the greatest basketball player of all-time.

  • lol they lost that game

  • you know the saying goes that the nba invented the three point line to give white guys a chance to score more...but jerry west and larry bird (and maybe even dirk) or the only exceptions

  • is that chick hearn?

  • @MrReggie31Miller

screw you Jordan sucks and I don't get it you using Reggie Miller username and say Jordan is the best. Jordan never hit a buzzer beater from half court

  • if the 3 point line was there lakers would have won that game then the willis reed return to the garden never occured and the lakers won have won the series in 6 but new york later won that game and the series here is how the series went

    Game 1: NY

    Game 2: LA

    Game 3: NY

    Game 4: LA

    Game 5: NY

    Game 6: LA

    Game 7: NY

  • I love you, Jerry West.

  • I'm a give you credit Jerrry West but Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time, the greatest of all time. (Michael Jordan should be the NBA logo)

  • @MrReggie31miller But the most famous image of Jordan is already a logo for Nike!

  • @MrReggie31miller Jerry West is the logo because he made the NBA a reality west of the Mississippi.

He made the game into what it is today, the Lakers created millions & millions of basketball fans in the midwest & west. To this day the Lakers are the most popular team in the world thanks to Jerry West.

He did it by playing basketball not by selling shoes & hamburgers and he didn't have the league make it easier for him and he didn't "retire" for two years to avoid gambling scandals

    LOGO

  • A shame that people don't recognize this amazing shot. If only it was 3 points....

  • ABA was using the 3 from 1967 on, NBA adopted it in 79, College didn't adopt it until 1986

  • This one is my favorite from the top ten.

  • not so much the three point wasnt invented its just they didnt use it only college teams used it. wich is GAY!!

  • Thank you for posting these videos, theehibachi!

  • Wow, what an incredible shot. The Knicks/Lakers rivalry of the 1960s-1970s is one of the most underrated match-ups in all of sports. GREAT players on both teams, some of the best to ever play this game, and almost every match-up was a pairing of hall-of-famers. Both sides won against each other in the finals, and both sides had players aging and battered and injured going into those deciding games, but both teams played their asses off. What a great moment in sports history!

  • true, but there were other jumpshots in that game that were over the 3 point line

  • It's insane thinking about how were it done today, it wouldve won him the game.

  • u guys say if only it was a three if there was threes, at that time the knicks were a great shooting teams and this situation would not have happened

  • lol @ jack nicholson

  • that should be like 10 points.lol

  • man i wish i could swish like dat everytime

  • J.West-aka-The Clutch

  • inbounder never went behind the line to inbound the ball! should not have counted! referees cant ref for shit

  • @baconboyy u r wrong, look at it and stop it the inbounder is behind the line still

  • At that time, the 3point line was already introduced to the ABA, but NBA hadn't followed yet, unfortunately for Mr. West and co

  • If only that was a three, than as the info says, that series probably WOULD have turned out differently

  • Unbelievable...

  • shame that wasn't 3 points

  • Can't really see it in this cut, because of editing, but Wilt thought the Lakers were down by 1 point when West hit the shot, and you can see him congratulating West after the shot goes in. But they cut away before they show Wilt heading to the locker room. For those few seconds, Wilt thought that West's shot won the game. If you ever see the full clip of this, you can see Wilt patting West on the back before turning and heading AWAY from the bench (because he was going to locker room)

  • sinjackal stop hating on the lakers just shut up n watch the next video

  • Again, if you took out all the Lakers vids, there wouldn't even be 20 "top moments". It's gotten to the point I just skip all the Lakers videos because I don't feel they have 2/3rds of the top moments in history.

Next time they compile moments, they need to limit how many times they put the same team in there. half of their moments were boring, and worse than every video before it, besides the other Lakers videos which were equally boring besides maybe 3 of them.

  • MR Clutch livin up to his Nickname.

  • Should be # 1, # 2 maybe Gar Heard shot that game was incredible, Michaels #1 should not be #1

  • Exactly, Micheal may be the best player ever....but West beat him in this one. What the Fuck?

  • ALL HAIL THE LOGO!!!

  • best play ever...it only count 2 points...it would be a 3point shot that would give them the championship...

  • it did not really matter because the knicks won that game

  • you are right. that was a great knick team. it was so different back then. did you noticed that the camera was so far away that we barely see the ball go in ? technology was different. w. reed did a risky thing by challenging west. luckily he wasn't fouled. ****

  • that was one of the best shots of the 1970s

  • Announcer sucked though, wasn't very enthusiastic haha. I got major goosebumps though, whoa man what an incredible shot.

  • This should be #1.

WAY better than MJ's 2 pointer

  • um no not number 1 although MJs 2 pointer wasnt that good

  • that was amazing

  • To me this shot should be rated #1 It caused such excitment of an unbelievable shot. Look at the reactions on the people. Even at over half court it was Mr. Clutch Jerry West making the shot.

  • jerry west is awesome thats just crazy

  • wtf!

  • 3 in a row.... wheres he gone?

  • Too bad they didn't count that as a 3 pointer.

  • ...And they can't even count that as 3 points

  • The "Three Point Line" was not invented by that time, sucks huh?

  • sure does cause that would've won the game

  • @ryuhadoken1221 Actually it was only that the ABA was using it in 1970.

  • lemme guess,ur a kobe fan hahaha they lost i nthe 2008 finals dumb shit

  • that doesn't mean they suck asshole their way better than the boston celtics. the celtics r like competitors in the special olympics, even if they win, their still retarded. jerry west, magic johnson, kareem abduhl-jabar, kobe bryant, lamar odom, derreck fisher, and pau gasol 4 life!!!

  • yea thats wut i said isn't it? and im jewish blood and if u make fun of big noses again im gonna kick ur motha fuckin ass

  • its been 6 months...

  • shithead laker fans are kobe fans. so what? they lost get over it.

  • jerry west, is one of the 3 greatest clutch players in nba history with the other 2 being michael jordan and larry bird. period. case closed, as archie bunker used to say back in the 70's, back when jerry west nailed this 63 footer. if u think otherwise, u r just an idiot. what do u take---stupid pills for breakfast??????

  • Bird hit more buzzer beaters than anybody including more than Jordan

  • negative

  • Positive

  • u tard!

  • mr clutch
