Overdrive is a type of distortion. Digitally added distortion is not achieved with gain. Overdrive is the purest method of distorting your signal. It sounds the best. If you like to chug, you just need MORE overdrive. The distortion on a JCM200 is just very high voltage, low impedance overdrive, and you can crank the gain about 3/4 of the way up and it is adequate for hardcore and metal.
buy when you wan't a really dirty distortion, and like playing garage 60's rock then you go to ebay and search vintage fuzz, then your on youre own (i own a fuzz factory for it's variety of sounds, a dallas arbiter fuzz face and a shin-ei companion fuzz)
Overdrive basically means that the amplifier is pushed to over the line where it can produce a clean sound. Back in the day people cranked their amps so they could produce overdrive. Distortion has a lot more gain.
All, i am new to electric guitar. Can anyone say , what is the use of Overdrive in electric guitar ????? What exactly is Overdrive ???? Because i feel distortion same as Overdrive.. What exactly is the difference between Overdrive & distortion ??? PLease help. Thanks in advance.
Overdrive is some kind of distortion, but its not so strong like dist. Distortion u can hear in metal songs, overdrive in rock, for example Eric Clapton. Electric guitar is made to be distorted :P
hi Akumushadow. thanks for ur help. It really helped. But friend, what is compression ? Can u tell me how it is used in electric guitar ? wats the use of compression in electric guitar ? thanks in advance .
Really, overdrive is just the harmonic distortion that occurs when one gain stage is overloading the circuit in the next gain stage, whether these gain stages are tubes or transistors. The majority of OD pedals under 300 bucks are a transistor driving a transistor, and then there is the method of rolling back the gain but turning up the output level, and actually overdriving your amp. The other "distortion" is just digitally added simulation, usually achieved with clipping diodes, and that sucks
distortion pedals usualy give you a realy heavey metal sound and it kinda has a trash sound. overdrive is like distortion but it has more of a warm feeling and is not as agressive sounding
Youre like 40 and you wear a baseball cap on backwards like some fucking goober dumbfuck that is too stupid to know how absolutely stupid that looks. Also you are a bad guitar player you have the most boring style in the fucking world you like shit bands. Fuck you
dont get yourself in the mind et you need a brand new guitar, take the dosh you would of spent on a new guitar and you might be able to get a much better one second hand!
if you look, it still reads "standard" in the correct direction. His Les Paul is a "Limited Edition Standard", so Gibson makes several things on those kinds of guitars different than the regular standards. The inlays for instance, are far different.
isn't that really only 5 possibilites with a two channel amp? Clean channel with bypass ,dirty, then lead, or overdrive and then three options on the pedal, no bypass? I'm just wondering. Anyway, Nice pedal, good clip, Thanks David.I guess I'll have to go to their website to check out the price.
This is a music video, the music and what he's telling us is what matters not whether his shirt clashes with the background. Rock on Dave ! great video

Compression's functionality is to control the highs and lows that come out of your guitar for a more "controlled " sound.

htezerdi 3 years ago
I'd say get something that feels good to play, I would recommend a fender strat standard, or the epiphone les paul standard.
Both pretty cheap!
marius883 3 years ago
yah id say get a mexican made fender strat. I wouldnt recomend getting a really cheep epiphone but some epiphones are ok
crscdn 3 years ago
Yeh or a Yamaha Pacifica! Theyre really good for their price, around £100 ($200)
I started with a Squire Strat, and had a Les Paul Epiphone - which was very good but not that cheap.
Strats and Pacificas are a safe bet tho

100 euros is more like 145 american dollars actually.
