  • this is amazing! what level is this for nyssma, from 1 to 6??

  • im playing this on a bassoon and its so fun

  • terrible!! this is your recordings really nervous and not in style!

  • Wow i thought level 4 was hard!

  • What level is this?

  • @bluehaze1029

This is at the Grade 8 level.

  • @haiyanwang68 Isn't the highest grade a level 6?

  • All i can say is WOW! I'm a seventh grade flute player and i don't take private lessons. My family says i have alot of natural talent for the flute. All i can say is i hope im as good as you one day cause your amazing!! please reply.

  • bravo!

    délicieux moment!

  • Nina -- would you happen to have any comments for maintaining full tone throughout the piece? I've been practicing it very slowly, and it sounds lovely when I played it in half time or so, but when I speed it up I feel like it comes out too breathy.

I really love your small variations on the piece, by the way -- the small trill or grace note here and there adds a lot of flavor.

  • You sound like a machine. For an excellent performance of the same song, look up iufiauto's performance.

  • I really enjoyed listening to this. I loved the embellishments as well as the contrast in dynamics.

  • Wooow. I love youre feeling

  • Ahh...Telemann. She must have worked hard on this piece. His timing is just so complicated!

  • Well done !

Your work has educated me !

I noticed I like a more percussive attack

    You're absolutely breath taking.

You helped me feel like there are angles among us !

  • Well done !

I am smirking because I didn't sense the bach hammering up front , which I learned from playing Violin Concerto in A minor on my ibanez electric.

While you get the luxury of reading it from papper we poor folk have to do it all by ear.

I sense the piece moves in 1-3-5 alot

    Your articulation isn't flawless but who's isn't.

Again my compliments for a job well done.

  • it sounds so great. why didnt you go allstate?

i love it how out of NYers dont know what NYSSMA is :D

  • And I thought I was playing it fast enough... ugh. Love the clarity in the tone and she seems to have a neverending breath.

  • Sounds great but not the type of style I was looking for. Could you play more of a dixieland/ new orleans jazz type of songs?

  • amazingg :D

  • It sounds so lovely :) I'm trying out for NYSSMA in... March, is it? Need to check...

  • @SoniaTheRandomizer No may 27! :)

  • Thnx 4 reminding me..

  • @SoniaTheRandomizer no problem! ;)

  • Woow, great!

  • Way awesome! I might be learning this piece with my applied flute teacher this semester.

  • One of the most beautiful performances on YouTube.

  • Oh you play this so well! I like your version~

  • People tell me that I play well for a high school flautist. When I heard this, I now tell them that they haven´t heard a professional play. You are amazing.

  • beautiful!!!

  • I just bought this song -- I will be playing it for NYSSMA in May.

I haven't started playing it yet, though I decided to hear it first.

I'm SO glad I found this! I also checked out your video for vibrato and sound production.

It helped a ton! This song is a bit intimidating for a 15 year old but I hope to 'master' it within these 8 months!

Thank you for taking the time to make the lesson videos and such. Great help!

  • dear softball: good luck learning this great piece. Remember to practice it slowly...VERY slowly....

  • Thank you. I'm deffinately starting out slow.

I'm starting off with two lines per week. (not measures)

It's just enough for me to handle. (:

  • Good work on promoting flute playing!

Honestly, very good technique and sound, although the way you play the Telemann is not my cup of tea.

As for real flute - well, IMO, in live situations it's often quite unimportant whether you slipped here or there - performance is everything! If you captivate your audiance, they'll forgive you such things.

    Thumbs up!

  • working on this, but this version is the best one i've ever heard

  • 0.0

  • wow! im working on this song!

    ...

its not going that well, lol

  • What flute do you use ^_^?

  • she uses a Sankyo 14kt gold flute I would LOVE to have one someday, but how much do they cost! o.o

  • you sick bastard!

  • Bravissimo

  • wuu whoot.

some one who understands the pie eating society of baroque society of baroque rich people eating pie and playing the flute out disdain for their inability to explain the reasons why the world keeps on turning.

so they continue laboring with their instruments to form a jet of birds doing a dance of tweets and crows. neeto.

  • Hi Nina, what kind of flute is that, how do you call it? is it expensive? is it hard to learn flute?

  • Absolutely stunning! You have a great sound!

  • wonderful !!!!

  • !! soo great!

i'm a beginner at flute and i have so much difficulty with retaining air! and you seem to never run out of breath!! wonderful! such skill!

  • Congrats on all this and of course your playing!!

  • this is one of my favorite recordings by you!

  • sorry. i love music, i live in music dont make sense aha. and i made it into that arts program =]

  • Very nice done.

Have you ever heard this piece on a steelstring guitar (no crossover). This is also very impressive. Search for Pal Paulikovics if you like to listen or check my videos.

  • Do you have a gold/silver/platinum flute?

  • is it flutist or floutist?

  • it's either, but I prefer flautist to flutist, it sound prettier.

  • Overall a great tone quality, but you have a tendency to go flat in the quieter sections.

  • excellent, sounds wonderful!

  • which fantasie is this?

  • The first one: Fantasia for flute without bass in A-major TWV 40:2.

  • thanks ofr the invite :)

  • awesome!!!

  • wow!!! you play beautifully. I wish I had the talent you did

  • haha this is the same solo as that in telemann fantasies for trombone. I'd love to see a trombone play this.

  • Wow!

  • Hello, my name is Aleesha and i am in the Tenth grade. I just wanted to tell you that you play beautifully and you are now one of my flute idols. I plan on playing this peice in February.

  • WOW. You are amazing. I'm familliar with Telemann's style... (I've played his viola concerto) but I really had no idea that he wrote anything for woodwind. But hey.. you learn something new everyday! haha.. but anyways... nice video. :D

  • Great Nina, Love your playing very much!!

    Best,

    Bulent Evcil

  • Lots of comments:

    Wonderful Dynamics

    Wonderful Phrasing

    Beautiful choice of articulation

And I loved the Tempo contrast you pushed into the song. This is a song I love to play, but just like all of Telemann's fantasies... so much is left to the interpretation of the flutist. Wonderfuly wonderful performance.

  • wooooooooooow

    you're great nina!

i want to play flute but i dont have one. i hope i'll buy one , one day.

    alex r , bucharest , ROMANIA

johannes aus Finland. Now in an attic flat in southern germany.

    peaceful xmas

  • Wow, that was incredible! I really enjoyed your performance.

  • i love it.

not something i can play at my level in flute playing x.x

  • Any chance, please, to hear the reality of ninaflute baroque by way of "authentic" flute or recorder?

  • Fippletest:

I dont play Baroque flute but I am thinking of playing some Telemann Fantasies on a wood flute with modern key system.

  • Was it always the metal tube with sundry accoutrement?

I'd thought that all flutey people started out by way of recorder.

  • I had to laugh at 'flutey people"!

I've never played a recorder, and I've been playing flute for nearly 16 years :)

  • o.o... wow... I never thought that people with such skill signed up here.. I've been playing for a little over a year now. xD

  • How do you tonge that fast? Because I can double tounge very well but my tounging just doesn't line up with my fingers and it sounds really sloppy.=/

  • WOW your amazing I hope to play as well as you someday!

  • I discover to my big surprise that I´ve been playin this piece of music before, but in C-major...

  • Nina, you are wonderfull. I know this music since i was 12, rearing in the doce flute. I reard it with Rampal, very fast, like a machine gun. I play this music too, but im G, and not with your brigthness. I like so much your interpretation, original. Put more vídeos, please. I am your fan.

  • Enrico: The Rampal recordings of these Fantasies are my inspiration, too!!

  • Absolutely wonderful! Your superior technique wonderfully matches with the perfect sound that you're capable to draw out of your flute.

  • you octave jumps are amazing.

  • well...i nvr learn flte or hold one but it feel interesting to learn! do you find it hard to learn in the starting??

  • dear figmassacre: like most things in this world worth doing, playing the flute is challenging and requires hard work and patience, but the rewards are worth it!

  • Very nice but what about the sound of a Baroque flute?

  • Thank you for posting such nice flute performance videos. Love your instructional videos also.

  • There are many excellent schools, teachers, and programs. Of course, I would love you to consider studying with me at NKU! You can read my bio on my channel. It depends a lot on your goals and learning style. I personally like to see undergraduates go to a University music school to get a college degree rather than a conservatory "degree."

  • that's great! realy like it.

  • I am practicing G.P. Telemann's fantasies these days. Your videos are very useful! Thank you very much!

  • Beautiful! I'm so happy to find you & the work you are doing -- & the music you are making! "What's it all about? Oh, yeah, the music..."

  • omg u rock, hey i am gonna play that song for my newtown scollarship would you recomend anything else coz you are great.

  • You might enjoy my flute teaching videos. Go to my channel then under my videos click VIEW ALL VIDEOS and you'll see my videos on sound, breathing and vibrato. I'll be uploading videos on articulation in the next week.

  • thank you thank you thank you thank you! i'm actually working on a recorder transcription of this piece...you're amazing!

  • I love this music!!!!

  • all i can say is..

    YOU R AMAZING

I'm in high school and i'm gonna play this for solo and ensemble, I wish I'd sound like you when the time comes

  • I think... you are amazing and so beyond me. Hahah great vids, what kind of flute do play on?

By the way, do you play piccolo? If so could you play the Concerto in C Major by Antonio Vivaldi? It's my newest solo to work on but I have no recording... that'd be super amazingly cool if you could do it!

  • I play a Burkart flute (and an older Haynes piccolo). I am not planning to record Vivaldi piccolo concerto right now but I'll put it on my "request list."

    Thanks for watching.

  • Thank you and you're welcome!

  • that was so amazing. do you think you could possibly put up a video of you playing the first movement Allegretto Malincolico of the Francis Poulenc flute sonata ?

  • Hi. Thanks for your comments. I'l put Poulenc on my request list and in the meantime I have an audio recording of me playing Poulenc and when I have some time I'll try to put it on my myspace page (user name ninaflute). I am busy this weekend because I have a recital tomorrow afternoon! Hopefully I'll record my recital and get some more videos to upload. Thanks for listening. Please subscribe to my videos.

    -Nina

  • Loved it

  • Wonderful playing. A real inspiration. Thanks for posting your videos. I like the idea of getting more classical musicians on here. I thought I'd start contributing too. :)

  • Hi Nina! Brilliant playing! Loved it!!

I have read your profile and I have to agree with you 100%!! Thanks for putting words on my thoughts!

    Respect,

    Peo

  • Wow. Beautiful sound.

  • Great fluting, Nina.

I'm learning to play the flute. You're a great inspiration. You seem to have the right spirit of musicianship, sharing and so on. I try to record myself, but get clumsy for fear of making blunders!

    Thanks for posting!!

  • you have such an amazing sound. I hope one day, I get to sound like that. Everything I've learned, I learned myself. I took a few lessons but they werent as often as I would've liked them to be. I never had the time. Congrats on being in the top 100. That's great!

  • wow. you are amazing. i am a sophmore, played the flute for 5 and a half years...and plan on continuing it. i absolutly LOVE playing the flute. do you have any advice?

  • Besides practicing a lot... :) Make sure you have the BEST possible teacher, and don't try to play repertoire that is too difficult. Work on sound sound sound, and learn to control vibrato. Good luck.

  • Hey, great job - great interpretation, tone, phrasing, execution - everything's fantastic! And congrats on being in the top 100. I ask the same question you do, though - why not more serious classical folks on here?

  • Let's try and recruit as many "serious" classical musicians as we can. I think there is the potential for a new audience -- the world is changing and we have to get out of our concert hall mentality! Thanks for the comments.

  • Oh by the way, I saw in your profile comment section that you were posting a message to get a classical musician into the top 20, well I was #6 All-Time subscribed last month, now i'm #21 all-time with almost 3300 subscribers, not too many other serious classical musicians respond to me though

  • WOW!!!! That is amazing and I am impressed that a classical musician is up there. I think youtube may be revealing a new audience for classical music, especially among a group who are not themselves classically trained. I am surprised how few serious classical musicians are on youtube. Check out the user Violinmasterclass (I posted those videos for an organization I used to run).

  • Hey wow, is this a college professor and great flutist posting a video response to my top 10?? Thanks Nina for your submission!

    -Cambry

  • Hi Cambry:

Yes, I am a college teacher and freelance performer and I'm getting hooked on youtube performing--I call these video jam sessions. Check out my channel and my statement on REAL FLUTE. I'm uploading more videos as we "speak." This week I was the top #48 for subscribers and I noticed I was the only classical musician in the top #100. I'm very impressed by your playing and your keen marketing sense!

  • Hey nice, that sounds very good! I'm collaborating with a few top YouTube musicians right now, let me know if you want to do a flute/piano collaboration, if you want an idea on how that would work, check out my Rach 2 where I collaborate with myself haha i'll go check out your statement now

  • LOVE THIS

  • Again

    It likes it very much.

  • This is lovely. What kind of microphone do you use, Nina? Do you have a stereo digital microphone plugged into your camera or just the camera microphone?

  • I used a Sony ECM-MS957 microphone for this recording and the b-minor Fantasie. The first recording I made (the a-minor Fantasie) I just used the camera's mic and there is a loud hum, so I learned I needed to plug in a better mic. I have no idea if Sony still makes the ECM-MS957-I bought this one years ago-but I am sure they have an equivalent product.

  • It liked it.

I hope all tunes by all means.
