  • i know Liz Carroll!!!! she and my mom used to be room mates!!!! that was like 30 years ago and they still keep in touch... wow!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent performance

  • That is absolutely brilliant. :)

For those left confused by the guesses about the string instrument, just take the OP's word for it... it *is* a mandola - not a mandolin, octave mandolin or bouzouki. Mandola is CGDA like viola. Octave mandoin is a bit bigger and tuned GDAE (an octave below standard mando, hence the name). 'Zouk is bigger still and usually tuned GDAD or GDAE.

    Great playing, everyone.

  • Never mind, it's working now. Yay!

  • The video won't play right, and there's no sound ?!? Why won't it work for me... =(

  • this starts with a cittern, right?

I think i need to get one...

    Ted Green

  • No it actually starts with a Bouzouki which is basically just a mandolin with a longer neck, although the tuning is different. Good vid btw!

  • We need more young people like Quinn. Cudos to all involved in this performance.

  • Wow you played with John Doyle and Liz Carroll? How lucky you are :) Very good performance congratulations...

  • Excellent!!!!

  • lucky quinn!

  • Great stuff, Quinn. John and Liz are always a blast to play with! Cool to see John playing his new mandola. He'd told me about it, but I haven't seen him play it live yet. Keep on posting!

  • Hi, glad you liked the video, they are such great musicians! I thought John was playing a bazouki, is it a mandola? Perhaps I should change to video description...

  • Octave mandolin in the states.

  • Actually it is an honest-to-goodness mandola (at least as Gibson defined mandolas), Upkilt. He tunes it CGDA. I was surprised, too!

  • My friend has the first mandola Bob made. He's making them totally different now! They are much better than the old models. He still doesn't advertise these on his site, though. The afterparty this year at ICONS was great. I should have asked John then, but we were too concerned with the hotel bar closing! Mick Moloney did introduce it as a mandola when they did their set.

  • He has an older 10 string bouzouki and a new mandola, both by Bob Abrams. I know he's been playing the mandola a lot and by the short neck and high pitch (and only 8 strings) in this video it appears to be the mandola.

  • Wow Quinn! You're sure makiing your rounds! Great playing!

  • mint job! very well done!

  • I love how she ony uses like a inch of her bow

  • Wow,, how cool is that.
