I saw here some years ago at Ebeneezer Church in Ft. Washington MD, where she and Dorothy Norwood appeared at a service to honor Donald Vails.

She had this young lady open for her who was, shall we say, a little deficient. She encouraged her. The lady got better with each song.

Albertina has not forgotten her roots, when she was given a chance. She mentors others to follow in her footsteps.

I think it important to know your music and to know your artist and their particular gifts and contributions, BUT who says there HAS to be just ONE king or ONE queen? Its divisive and doesn't assume that there is room in the sacred for circle for all to praise the ONE who sent us here. Sure they call Albertina the Queen of Gospel but most people think of Mahalia Jackson as the gospel queen. When Mahalia died peeps didn't call Albertina queen, that started with Bobby Jones and his crew and it just made sense that she would be called that, but really Mahalia made more contributions to gospel and achieved more than Albertina will.
