Hi, thanks for posting this. I left a link in a post on my blog about jumping spider ecology to this video and used a still from it. Please contact me if this is a problem or I have inappropriately credited you. I can't seem to post a link in here, but google EvoEcoLab jumping spider :)
a Phidippus Audax rode on my (motorcycle) instrument cluster as i drove down the S Fla turnpike- i was frightened as i admired its beauty and i think i would've wiped out if it jumped on my face-shield- it didn't -but i have loved this species of spider since!
You know, I absolutely cannot STAND spiders, but for some reason this little tyke is kinda cute, and doesn't bother me at all. He looks...well....a bit like one of my cats, and I love cats. Weird, eh? And those eyes are just brimming with personality - he's curious about you :)
Your work with Jumping Spiders is FAN-TAST-ic! With Respect I bow to The King of Macro... Thank you to share your Videos and Photography with the World! JS's are great! I have 4 Plexippus paykulli-1 M 3 F. :-)
lol just yesterday i was flying my rc plane and when i landed and removed the canopy their was a huge jumping spider inside! he must have hung on the whole flight! but very cute!!!
Jumping spiders are sooooo cute! ^^ l was playing with one today l found in my yard. l put my finger up to him and he jumped back, looking at it curiously, and l kept following him and he jumped on my hand, and crawled around.
I love jumping spiders. Did you ever play with them? They look right at you, and will jump from hand to hand for you. Lovely eyes. Extremely intelligent (for arthropods).
The first time I encountered one I immediately knew what it was, and it was neat to lean over it to stare at it and it just looked back up at me like "..What?" Then instead of running away it just turned to look at something else.
i fell exactly the same way, this is an amazing spider. You can follow it's path of sight, by its head-movements. I was lucky to catch one in my livingroom, busy with stalking a house flie. It was truly amazing to watch how it hunted down the flie !!! when it got close to the pray, it sort of moved in small zips. dont know how to explain it. it looked awesome. i wan't one as a pet !!! :-)
wouldnt it be cool if we could mutate one (egg of course) to grow bigger? fuck id have a dog sized spider guard my backyard and id feed it corpses from the morgue so it will have a taste for humans lol
Very Awesome! Do you know of any reason for the fangs to be so brightly green? A warning maybe? Spiders are so cool. How did you get such great photography?
I looked down into the eyes of a jumping spider, and I could see it waving its anterior median eyes around beneath the cornea. I did not realize until then that they moved that stuff under there like that. Amazing! I like your videos and photos!
They sure do, though the rear ayes are not completely "on the back of the head" but towards the back/sides more or less. They have eight eyes in total.
Glad you like my macrophotography!

Isn't it strange how even people who hate spiders can sometimes find jumping spiders cute? Maybe its the big eyes or the funky hairdo
DONTTOUCHITdamn 2 years ago
It's the big eyes and the fact that they're so tiny.

i luv jumpers (abernatus orbus) i might have spelled it wrong
staffxsarge 3 years ago
There is a Habronattus orbus if that is the species you are referring too...
The Habronattus genus as a whole is fascinating! Just do a google search for "tolweb Habronattus" and fully explore the first link that pops up.
