  • i spend a lot of my chilhood there as my primary school was in wellpark area , such a shame to see the vandalism & the shoddy upkeep of such a spectacular place , (wonder if the ashes are still there , where smoke would rise out of the gound, near tennents brewery) , had loads of happy times in that place , thanks 4 the memories jimmy ;)

  • @nailzuk Nothing has changed.... You should take the "wee man" up there and have a wander... really nice and relaxing on a nice sunny day!

  • Sad thing is there's probably mo survivng relations to look after many of the monuments now, can't understand why yobs would want to wreck it though.Very nice peaceful spot.

  • @AG3304 I know that the Goth element hung around there for a while and caused no end of problems, more so with painting all over some of the grave stones. The complete lack of respect is what saddens me the most. I only hope that the people who do this, when they experience a loss of someone they love, never have to face any form of desecration to any monument they may put in place to remember their loved one. The Necropolis is an outstanding place with architecture that simply is irreplaceable.

  • @MrGordonian Oh dear.l too hope they don't get that happen eventually when,as will inevitably happen, the Grim Reaper calls for them. The Necropolis reminds me of the Garden Cemetery featured on the Beeb's "Restoration" some years back now. You're quite right about it being irreplaceable too.

  • Very Nice, so peaceful

  • @raydvd Have to say, the sunshine being out always makes the Necropolis a lovely place to visit.
