This is a powerful song. Even though I am not Christian, or religious, this song has a lot to say on several levels if you are not pedantic about the exact meaning of words like prayer, lord, devil and such, but are able to take it as a parable of life in general.
@mortalisk I couldn't agree more! Though I am a believer now, I was not when I first learned this song, and it actually was a bit of a leap for me to think of it as a gospel song after I became a believer. But, as you say, it is a very powerful song, and I believe a powerful message to everyone, professed believers, and non-believers alike. What is the message? You can't hide from who you are forever.
@samwisegamgeese That's important, because we don't know what we like. We like what we know! I like this version, because it makes more sense than many of the other versions.
@guitmartiman well i like more the version of threelegoman because his lyrics are more folkloric. When I'll manage to learn this song I'll mix his lyrics with yours and les baxters.
Something very special about that rendition, Jack. Thanks for sharing. Very effective video effects, too. And a good reminder that the time to pray and commit is now. Again ... thanks.
