I know a kid that is a true sociopath/psychopath (the words actually ARE interchangeable, but "psychotic" can be treated w/ medication). He's only 8 & he stabbed his bunny rabbit to death. He's moved on to cats. He paralyzes them w/ a screwdriver into their skull so they can't move, then allows wild animals to rip them apart. It's scary shit. When I ask him why (he's a friend's son) he says "I just want to see what their insides look like." There's no help. He will kill a person/people one day.

I love this guy. "Dexter" helps me relate to the emptiness I feel around people and having to put on a show to appear normal, happy, funny, sad daily. Makes me feel out of place nearly wherever I go. We all have secrets but a specific dark one had secluded me from the beginning. I'll always be in a different world just like I was then. On my guard unable to loosen up, relate to normal things. For the most part I thought I conquered it and moved on but I feel lonely as ever and now accept it.

Emotional coldness is very common, but emotional /emptyness/ is only a characteristic found in depressive disorders.

You talk as if you're the first person to feign emotions, everyone does it, espescially males since they're naturally colder than women. Dexter is a textbook socialized psychopath, with some obvious non-psychopathic traits as he to some degree cares for his son and sister, which isn't possible in real psychopaths.

Having been sexually abused and undergoing years of sub human treatment which I don't want to get into all I can say is I don't look back on the past and luckily I'm happy and in good health. Although I'm forever feeling disconnected with the world and normal people alike. Sorry for coming off the wrong way.

Michael C Hall is the best actor on TV ...IMO he is ten times better than 99 percent of the A list hollywood actors. He doesnt just play Dexter. He IS DEXTER!!! Just like in Six Feet Under. He didnt play David Fisher. He WAS Davi Fisher. Absolutely amazing actor. The Showtime Execs have said that they think Dexter will go on for a long long time. They were surprised that the rating keep getting better and better and the audience is growing more and more and more. THE BEST SHOW ON TELEVISION.
