We have to move forward, so companies need to open their eyes and invest and steer their business models towards the future and not the past.

it would be about time that cars like that are supposed to be "COOOL" instead of anachronisms with v8 engines.. id prefer an electric bullet like that one anyway..
the problam is only.. where is the electric power coming from ?!
Teasing us for 100 years, they should have let Chysler/Dodge die like they deserved to. They build fantastic vaporware, never put it into production. To bad they got bailed out. With just half that cash loaned to Tesla we'd see cars like this hit the streets.
This would have been nice to see in a showroom ! However ! Those Italians that took control of Chrysler KILLED the electric car ! Well they Killed the Chrysler electric cars anyway ! And they were So close to marketing those four prototypes too !
not only is the fox garding the hens but they wanting us to pay more for a car that has 4000 less parts is easer tomake and cheper to make the whole drivetrain is just batterys, speedcontrol, moter
Cool as hell. But probably just vaporware. I don't see Dodge investing development money on anything other than big V8 trucks for a long time. It's been their bread and butter for years. Hard to change a business model that works, unfortunately...
@tsport100 Even though they ran out of money in 08 and got bailed out, GM's top 7 execs were paid over 66 million dollars in combined salary and bonuses.... Figure that one out, cuz i cant!
I would heartily agree. I'd love to see electric drive technology make it to mass market. But, that is the excuse they'll use to keep making big trucks. It's the same "business as usual" mentality that made Ford take a nose dive. At least Ford is attempting to edge into the market with the Volt. We'll see how it does.
@nephil1977 big trucks and high liter super cars are awesome....we hand imports their asses back to em in shards... hence CTS-V Hennessey, Jeep Hennessey, ZR1 Vette, and Viper TT Hennessey... these hold the records and smoked EVERY import that came against them. The electric idea is cool.. but gas engines forever!
Yeah I'm sure the Oil Companies and Congressmen take the auto exec's golfing on a regular basis. I did some math and 20% fuel increase = roughly $15 Billion in lost tax revenues yearly. and roughly $150 Billion dollars in lost gasoline sales. Oh and Exxon Mobil and Chevron own some of the hybrid Battery Companies. I think the Fox is Guarding the Hen house.
for me....the point of a dodge car is to have alot of power. think about it. this car is working with electriity.i think dodge will aim for hydrogen cars. So..... i don't know if it will go in production.
I can understand the leasing that Mini is doing, but people are ready to PURCHASE electric vehicles now. Any doubters will have their minds changed (as though they loved electric vehicles all along) once the performance and advantages are clear to them. Those of us who have looked into it are wanting one now.
This is the 1st time I've seen this concept car-- love it, just hope it goes N2 production w/out lots of changes. Don't concern yrself w/ all the glass-- EVs R inherently more stable w/ a lower center of gravity since the batteries sit low N frame-- far less inclined 2 roll over N an accident as any SUV today is inclined 2 do-- roll-overs almost unheard of 25 yrs ago since cars back then all sat low 2 the ground & more stable. This is the one thing that really piss me off, the 3 detroit auto companies tease us the public with this awesome looking prototype cars and such. but never EVER MAKE THEM!, they just redesign the whole thing at the last minute and make them boring with 14" rims and 3 boring colors!
Dodge announced this week that they will roll out an electric vehicle for the masses. They further identified the manufacturer of the lithium ion batteries that will power the vehicle.
Interior seems a bit too "science fiction" for my taste, but the body-work is very appealing. Still, wouldn't want to get that in a wreck... a lot of glass on that thing...

Don't wait for these big manufacturers. They had their chance long ago. Anybody can build their own electric car, cheaply. You can modify a golf cart for a few hundred dollars and it's street legal. EV's are popping up everywhere with lots of very nice "garage built" ev's. America has woke up to this oil grip. (And down the stretch they come. The big boy's have stumbled and Typical American takes command on the outside and is in a sprint to the finish. It's all Typical American at the wire.)
Neither GM nor any other legacy auto manufacturer will build an EV. Legacy auto companies won't build them because EVs never need service. Look how big the service department is at every car dealer, and your out-of-wallet experience there. Much revenue at risk. They don't make money selling cars. They make money on service, like a printer company that makes money selling ink cartridges. Expect American Car Company EV's to run on the energy of greenwashing press releases for a long time to come
Getting back at the oil companies, the Rav4 electric suv that was built for California a few years ago, what happened. It used a special battery system made in the US by a GM subsidery, which ended up in the hands of Chevron, who promptly closed the plant and demantled the equipment ensuring the battery was dead and buried. So today we have batteries made up of many AA sized batteries doing the job. You can be sure the oil companies, with their deep pockets will fight back.
The only unfortunate business of electric cars is sure, we're not paying oil companies, but who do you think invested lots of money in this technology? Yes, the oil companies because they knew oil may go dry or people may get sick and tired of being fucked in the ass, so they need something to keep them going.
So, buy up car makers' stocks which aren't worth dick, build battery factories and electric cars, and charge people a shitload of cash for batteries, electric motors, and charging.
Now instead of getting a large barbed wired dick up our ass from using oil, we get an artificial barbed wired dick up our ass with high electric bills since not many people have solar powered homes.
And if you want to upgrade, be prepared for Dick #3 because the oil companies probably bought up solar panel facilities to charge an assload for those panels, or charge a high rate on your electric bill since you didn't upgrade. If u didn't upgrade, basically ur house is worthless on the market.
One way or another, companies and/or corporations will have you pay for the rest of your life for simple, remedial shit that you need and if you don't, anything you own will be worthless.
And when we shift resources to conserve, remember as we are saving, something else is lost. At first, it may be high fuel costs and pollution to get efficiency, clean air, and better performance cars, but we also lose our freedom of choice or resistance to defy companies or corporations.
If the cost of fuel collapses like it did in 1985 but the car makers all produce EVs and electric companies are charging a shitload of cash for EV charging, we can't switch back to gas powered cars.
Also, since it no longer doesn't take as much energy to provide service to a great amount of people- i.e.: electric company workers and coal miners, can be out of a job because they may end up using solar panel farms to create electricity.
And lastly, since EVs maybe more reliable than gas powered cars, say goodbye to many UAW jobs and auto dealerships since there isn't a need to service them much. Also garages and mechanics may lose their jobs since the technology is too advanced and everyone's been working on gas powered cars.
Not that I'm against alternative fuel technology electric cars or solar panels, but keep in mind with a lot of people, we can change the world, but our corporate masters will do ANYTHING to keep the status quo, regardless of our actions.
neat car.. but.. no sound in this video kinda sucked, i was tired and fell asleep 3 times watching this, needless to say i didnt watch he whole thing as it caused me to doze off. Yep! sound really matters that much, no sound and a person can be bored to sleep! =]
Nice piece of shit, reminds me of the Chevy Volt. Do they seriously think that wierd body shapes has any thing to do with electricity? Who are they fooling? What about showing some drive train development?
Fact: People Want the same Cars as they drive Today, minus engine and fuel tank, plus electric motor and good battery's. Simple as that.
Scenario:

we should spread the news to as many people as posibile because consumer awarness to create demand will make it happen. We must fight these greedy oil companies to death because they will that's for sure.
AMEN!! and if they don't get them in the showroom soon enough, I'm going to get sick of waiting and take my Jetta to get a EV conversion done. So, F*** Y** GM, Toyota, Honda, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford and all the others who keep making the public wait!!!
I dont like dodge, but if they make this car i will have a new respect for them.

we should spread the news to as many people as posibile because consumer awarness to create demand will make it happen. We must fight these greedy oil companies to death because they will that's for sure.

This looks very promissing and not clumsy like the GM Electric Car.
Right on Dodge !!! It has a sexy look to it. This is a great design.

AMEN!! and if they don't get them in the showroom soon enough, I'm going to get sick of waiting and take my Jetta to get a EV conversion done. So, F*** Y** GM, Toyota, Honda, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford and all the others who keep making the public wait!!!
