@Brendon00000 Hehe, well what about good old cremation? Did you know that cremated remains aren't actually ashes, like most people think, but they are in fact calcified powder? In other words, your body is reduced back to the elements you're made of by the extreme heat, not burned or directly changed like fire chemically changes things. BTW, after being frozen by liquid nitrogen, your body would thaw into a gnarly mess.
What about the "downwinders" do the wind currents carry that awful smell all over the area? What happens if kids try to trespass in there around Halloween?? How do you control the smell so that the neighbors dont complain?
At least the bodies arent buried underground where it's dark and spooky. The body stays with nature and remains with nature. I fear this stage in my life but after seeing this, it isnt as bad. I would like to donate my body to TBF.
I vividly remember the body farm when I attended the National Forensic Academy. This place is amazing! They are totally professional there and I learned a great deal about the decomp process. Hope they keep up the good work!
This is science. People also freaked out the first time someone cut open a corpse to see how it is inside. But you know what? If we want to understand human bodies, this needs to be done.
And the families of these people should be proud. These experiments and observations helps to solve crimes!
These people are dead. Having their body rot in the ground or on it, won't change anything.
It's not the body that we mourn, but the spirit and soul.
@umkalzu it depends on the enviroment. in a casquet it could last for alot of decades, but in a bodyfarm because of the enviromental factors like, dirt, water, and animals it could be a couple of years or even months.
If it weren't for the hardworking scientists and the forward-thinking people who donate their bodies to this cause, law enforcement would never be able to trace crimes to the people who committed them in the ways that they can today.
@Puppatoons I always have that philosophical apprach as well. People never want to think about the necessity of something like this. However, when a crime occurs, they always want it solved - yesterday.
in southeast FL, where i live, we experience small isolated showers not lasting more than 4 or 5 minutes. cloud floats on, sun shines with vigor. INTENSE evaporation. starting to see where i'm going with this? this arena fascinates me but I A M
P U K E Y S M U R F F !!!!!!! i might choke on my own technicolor yawn. hail to the farmers.
My husband used to say that cremation would be fine but donating for medecine or just propping him up under a tree would be better. He's gone now and cremated...if only we had known! I'm sure he would have approved.
@nokomarie1963 the fuck, srsly the fuck, donating your body to science CAN be laudable but, after seeing decaying bodies having wished the ability to donate their body to that fate is just macabre. srsly the fuck?
@GiggleHz quite a few Forensic Scientists (mainly Doctors and proffesors) have donated their bodies to the farm. Must admit, it's not how I wanna be remembered. But hey, whatever floats your boat I guess
@Doinkatron dont get me wrong, i totally get donating your body to science, but the persons comment about wishing they had donated a love ones body after watching this, to me seems a bit off. I understand its a just a corpse but still.
@GiggleHz I see what your getting at now, sorry didn't read everything. Yeah, it does seem a bit odd I must admit. Would have though seeing this would have made them have second thoughts. As they say, ignorance is bliss.
@nokomarie1963 well no shit but i wouldnt find joy in knowing a loved ones corpse is just lying around out in the open decomposing for science or not. I guess thats why its a choice eh?
If this is the Body farm in Kn, Tennessee then I went past it for the first time today.... Its near UT and I was with a friend and my mom while im here visiting my grandparetns that my mom told me its a Body Farm...Its gross and creepy but its whatever people want to do I guess..
i realy dont care what happens to my body after im dead. heck i wont needed no more anyways. i told my family i prefer cremation but is what ever they want to do. heck for all i care they can save my bones and hang them up on the door for halloween.
One day, many years from now I hope, I will be some grad students experiment. I think the reason he kicked the bone back is because he didn't have gloves
one thing i didn't like, if I was the prof. there I would pick up that bone by hand - with gloves - and place where it needs be, kickin it about like that is a bit disrespectful to the remains of the person. Even in scientific research there is room for emotional ethics ..
I believe that they are bodies that are donated to science. Why wouldn't you want a loved one to contribute to the knowledge of human decomposition? They will rot either way. At the body farm, they're doing real good!
idk? i mean i guess its a good thing, i know we r all gonna rot. but its just the thought about thinking that we were once in a great figure and then suddenly just eaten by magets and stuff idk....no disrespect though thats my opinion
Yeah, but there ARE way to ensure you that your dead body doesn't become host to an army of maggots! I absolutely HATE maggots! They are the lowest, most-disgusting for of life out there!
I got traumatized by maggots at an early age.Ever since then, just the thought of them makes me sick to my stomach. So, I want to make sure that when I die, I'm recovered immediately.
Re: bcabmac, the dead voluteered their bodies to scientific research (i.e. this) to help solve problems of the future. I find this to be very respectful on the part of deceased.
people donate their own body to the Body Farm, so it really isnt disrespectful. And they cant just use animals because they can decompose differently. Its science, if you dont like it dont watch it
this man is a legend. this work is amazing, im training to be a forensic pathologist and we benefit . from the work he does. id love to go and work for him.
