The Amstrad Plus was a missed oportunity by Sir Alan. He still had enough Loyal CPC users to make the system a success had it been a slightly higer specification. But the third party programmers were as much to blame for it's failure as Amstrad were. Too lazy to take advantage f the machines special features.
Everyone's got his own personal taste, but I guess, "the" best PSG tunes have been composed by Scavenger /Synergy (Atari ST) :)... well, at least his tunes well deserve to give them a try :-D, if the subject is an overall outlook about what the PSG is capable to do.
Also, technically-wise, I could listen to the most modern YM tricks probably from Frank Seemann (TAO/Cream, Atari ST).
(Five stars awarded to the compilation, if I haven't mentioned already ;-))) ).
unless i'm mistaken , the spectrum +3 had some kind of fault that caused the sound to be distorted and nasty - can't believe that was never recalled and fixed.
I don't remeber that :-/ I know there were some compatibility problems with the +2 and +3 not playing older spectru and spectrum 128 games properly. Maybe that was the problem. Will look into it.
Anyone can tell me from what game comes the tune played from 00:00 to 01:21??? Is because I like it :)

The Sega Master System didn't use an AY-3-8910 for sound, it used a Texas Instruments chip called the SN76489.

I always wondered...
Was the speccy a bit inferior to Amstrad CPC despite having the same soundchip ?
Some music seems slowler on those.
Also the CPC was stereo, not the AtarI ST if I remember well ?
Too bad the Amstrad Plus didn't get more RAM and a second Z80...would have been Awesome.
Atari ST was superior because of the great RAM and superior processor.
But Amstrad Plus did have sweet stereo DMA.

I will have a listen to these. I sometimes forget that the ST used the AY38910 too.

It didn't exactly use the AY-3-8910, but a very similar chip from Yamaha called the YM2149.

Can you tell me the games and/or demos from those PSG songs were taken?
