  • "Suspirable" de principio a fin

  • Great!!

  • La signora avevo del divino nella voce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a beautiful voice *.*

But..why there's a photo of Clark Gable and Carole Lombard?

  • amy winehouse sonds like her but she was a greastest talnt of 21 century and billie holiday time before

  • I was born in 1992, but when i listen this songs i would have been born long before!!

  • it reminds me of my parents listening to her on the radio and thinking i will always love her music

  • this is one beautiful song..... makes me think of my friend Wendell Johnson who taught it to me. RIP my friend

  • PRECIOSO

  • Lovely.

  • I have to admit. I'm in love with this song. Been listening to drum and bass all day then decided to kick back. First with Nina, now Billie. God what a voice. I am in a 1930's speakeasy. . .

  • @MulBerrie

Haha! I was listening to Joesphine Baker, Nina Simone, Shirley Bassey, and now Billie!

  • Masterful, Billie!

I do also enjoy the versions sung by Amy Winehouse (at student of

the great Billie Holiday without doubt) and by Nat King Cole.

  • Wow, makes anxious for Fall to arrive! To be all comfy and cozy on my couch, listening to Ms. Holiday... While sipping on my Bailey's and coffee! Can't wait!

  • This touches my heart. There is no other music as romantic as this era and Billie herself

  • ooo this old sound of music ...

  • ouch! it hurts bad! deep down there ...my stranded heart can recognize this as a sheer gem..

  • Billie will always be in our memories

  • I believe in love.

  • What does the evening breeze do? It caresses the trees, naturally. And in such a tender deeply soft way, of course. Holiday's carrying the torch with Peterson & C. One more masterpiece, gift of an angel dropped on earth or , better said, by a galaxy apart herself.

  • Billie just instincitvely knew what to do with a song. She always had time, and her phrasing was always true to the lyric. Her style is all her own. A one of a kind genius!

  • And people praise Amy Winehouse...

  • @mtsn they just don't know true talent do they.

  • @mtsn The fact that Billie be fantastic not to say that Amy may not be as well. Both artists are unique and subjective. My two favorite singers!

  • Heart-wrenching - I just listened to Amy Winehouse's version and came here to listen to the Queen. Made me cry before knew it.

  • Michael in San Antonio: I love you - have been so tender to me, yet you have rocked my world. Love, Carolyn

  • Most singers get near, Billie gets there!

  • @kevinastraw For damn sure!!!!

  • Her later recordings are very cool too. What a unique interpretation here.

  • It sounds like bambi's fist steps delicate as hell billie voice is like mighty mouse.Small but hits u hard.

  • @HERBLANDZ Hey, great "mighty mouse" image! Especially the early recordings. But this is the definitive edition of "Tenderly," as everything she sings becomes the definitive edition! I have a friend who once--after intimate acquaintance with this version--heard Sarah Vaughan's perfectly lovely rendition, and he laughed aloud at it's superficiality. Yes, Billie "hits you hard". Well said!

  • did SO much within that limited range

  • I love clacical standar Jazz number. From Tokyo.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=Uf6xrAC3ye0

  • 3 people!!!!!

  • @dragshoter...her father's name was clarence...you should read her biography

  • @68shamoa I don't remember anything about her taking her name from an actress. I'm too lazy to look for it right now, it's 5 in the morning. She did take Holiday from her father tho, so dragshoter isn't entirely wrong. I really don't remember her saying she got it the "Billie" from Billie Dove but you're probably right. I thought it was more of a play on gender roles and her fondness of the name itself.

  • Lady Day is incomparable. So glad to see that young folks love her instead of fawning over nobodies like Bieber and Paris Hilton.

    - Brilligant, age 75

  • @Brilligant A-MEN!!! (JSCRIPT--29 :-) LOL this IS beautiful!!! absolutely!!! man, i could listen to her, just this song even, all day ANY day!!! sad life, but WOW, at least things SEEMED classy back then...as times go forward, we seem to get more and more backward (just look at "music" these days...no modesty ANYwhere--it's WAY more fun to be clean than dirty...i wish kids knew that now, or could learn it b4 they're spent...fast living--ages/killz yaChristcancleaneverything that's dirty tho

  • i can totally get laid with her singing

  • Ah Sookie .. Sista Day .. A Gift you Where

  • Love it,Lucrezia!

  • Dá para viajar no tempo ouvindo Billie Holiday!

O vídeo está perfeito, lindo, com uma simples imagem em preto e branco.

  • SOULFUL CLASSIC

  • Billie will make a grown man cry.

  • She was the Innovator. All others followed her lead ..building their careers (even with their own unique talents and skills) upon the classics that she first brought forth to this world from above.

  • Indeed! Perfect!!!

  • rip

  • I love it so much.

  • This was way before my time; but when something is marked in EXCELLENCE even if time goes by it is still beautiful. Thank you for posting it.

  • Billy was the best, her vocal styling's and inflections are truly amazing !!

  • Why can't they write songs like this any more instead of some of the vulgar crap that's out there. This is romantic, slow, breath on my neck, velvet touch foreplay!

  • @qbingrl1 I agree with you , they are making the Negro nation into one of curruption, vulgarity instead of having such beautiful songs from Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan etc - Hats of to you

    Sheila

  • Sorry for that picture !

  • perfect!

  • love her

    who is the picture of?

  • @celi88

The picture is of Carole Lombard and Clark Gable, both actors and married to each other until her tragic death.

  • billie fills the room,always.

si',i'd also like to know where you picked the background pic from.

  • I would love to be able to sing like her.

What picture did you use for the background?

  • Think I've lived at this time in one on my previous lifes.

  • Jazz girls....las más hermosas, las más delicadas flores de la música, no hay comparación.

  • Sim, muito lindas, charmosas, flores delicadas, comparação... talvez Elis Regina! Não jazzistica, mas maravilhosa!

  • One of the giants in singing. A distinctive style that will never again be heard except on her recordings.

  • @lmargetich Billie Holiday's best stuff was cut before WW2. Madeleine Peyroux is Holiday copy cat .

  • @lmargetich I can only agree with you !!

  • @lmargetich Yes...and she sings like she`s singing just to you.

  • Music "Standard" na incrivel voz de Billie Holiday

  • Muito linda essa música!

  • I could listen to this forever, its absolutely wonderful!

  • Her voice is so beautifully distinctive. I love to hear when singers do not manhandle this song. To hear "Tenderly" sung forcefully just doesnt work. This is one of the beautiful versions.

  • This tender voice singing Tenderly...beautiful!

  • this is amazing....truly timeless

  • SUBLIME. the '50s were a dream and glamorous world.Great taste

  • Lord this woman could sing, she picked her name from the headlines of a newspaper. She rode busses on the tours, was spit on, ridiculed and laughed at. All part of what black entertainers had to take when Billie was coming up. These singers may be dead but their voices are preserved on some records and turn up on youtube sometimes like this song.

  • So true, but I hear Billie was of a different breed. They say she didn't take shit from anybody (except her abusive boyfriends). I read in her bio that a white man in a bar put his cigarette out on her fur coat and she took him outside and whooped his ass. Billie could throw down with any man she wasn't sleepin' with.

  • @stillgotit01 She picked her name from her fav actress Billie Dove

  • @68shamoa Actually she took her name from her missing father, Billie.

  • @68shamoa And she made the choice to take her father's last name, Clarence Halliday, who never married her mother. Billie Holiday was born with the name Eleanore Fagan.

  • What a 'Billie-Bridge' is being constructed - Tenderly...!

    Dziękuję = Thank you
